Chapter 10
The knocking on the door roused them. Every nerve in her body still felt electrified, like she’d stuck her finger in a socket and was suffering the aftereffects.
Ghost kissed her shoulder before getting out of the bed.
It was a small action, but just one other way that he differed from the other men she’d been with.
And what was the saying about the little things mattering more? Whatever it was, it was right.
Ghost hadn’t just fucked her within an inch of her life, puffed on a cigarette, and then called it a night. He’d cleaned her up, removed her bindings and checked her over for irritation, took off her heels, lifted her under the covers, and then held her close as he whispered praises in her ear.
It was incredible, and yet even that didn’t seem a sufficient word to describe how she was feeling.
Becks was reluctant to sit up, but the voices from the door reminded her about the food Ghost had ordered when they’d checked in.
She kept the sheet tight to her chest, though she didn’t have a clear view of the door.
Ghost was instructing whoever was out there that they were not allowed inside the room, which she appreciated.
She hoped he’d at least put pants on. A quick glance at the floor confirmed that his jeans were missing.
Ghost thanked the server and closed the door.
Becks’ nostrils flared, and she started salivating. “Mm, is that steak?”
Her nearly naked husband pushed the cart into the room and right up to her side of the bed. When he pulled the silver food domes off the plates, Becks honestly didn’t know which looked more delicious: him or the steak.
“There was never a doubt in my mind that we were going to work up an appetite.” He smiled at her, and Becks decided it was definitely him.
As she worked her way over to the side of the bed by him, Ghost paused to help her pull the sheet over with her.
She kissed his shoulder, just as he had done to her.
Straightening to turn her attention to their lunch, Becks was caught off guard when he bent to capture her lips. It was a short, but deep kiss.
“What was that for?” she asked when he pulled away.
“You’re my wife. I don’t need a reason.”
Oh, fuck… There went her ovaries again. Why was his possessiveness so fucking hot?
There was no possible way this man wasn’t getting her pregnant.
She’d never had unprotected sex before, and while she had understood in theory that fluids were supposed to mix during sex because that was the point, she had no concept of just how messy unprotected sex was.
The fact that he’d washed her up afterwards was more than just his mess too.
Becks had come three times. That had never happened before, even when she was on her own.
She’d always been a one-and-done kind of orgasmer.
And given that she’d just come three times, she should not be wanting to go again so soon.
His eyes darkened as he looked her slowly up and down.
There was something different about Ghost, like he’d been carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and it had just been lifted free.
She liked the way his lips lifted in a partial smirk.
It was cocky, but then after what he’d just done to her body, she supposed he had a right to be that confident. The man knew he could deliver.
“Eat first,” he instructed her. “Then I’ll fulfill whatever fantasies just popped into your head.”
Yeah, her uterus was definitely in trouble.
The steak was good, the sex was better. Becks’ experiences had been a bit lacking, and she mostly attributed that to being a bigger girl.
The two positions she’d had sex in were either missionary or doggy.
She’d never had shower sex before, and that was also something she’d never asked for because she’d been afraid to hear the rejection.
Ghost had been the one to initiate it, though!
When she’d tried to express caution, he’d literally picked her up, pressed her against the wall, and stopped her verbal protests with his tongue.
Becks had never considered herself the kind of girl who could be picked up and tossed around like small women. And damn, did she like it.
“What has you smiling like that?”
Becks lifted her chin. She was laying between Ghost’s legs with her arms crossed over his abdomen. “Just thinking about how easily you pick me up and move me around. Like I weigh nothing to you.”
Ghost raised an eyebrow. He was lying on two pillows with one arm tucked behind his head in that position guys did. Becks had tried it once, and did not understand why they found it comfortable. “How much do you weigh? And be honest.”
Becks’ cheeks flamed. “You should know better than to ask a woman that!”
He didn’t back down. “Baby, we’re married and there’s a very good chance that my kid is, or will be, growing inside you very, very soon.
I didn’t have any good role models growing up to know what a good marriage is, but I knew enough to know what it wasn’t.
And now that I’m an adult and I’ve seen my brothers falling for their women and being stable in their relationships, I know exactly what I want.
Which means there is nothing too personal or that will be private between us.
No secrets, no lies, and no stretching the truth. So answer the fucking question.”
“Two-twenty-five, give or take a pound.” The words came flying out of her mouth before she made the decision to speak.
Holy crap, how did he keep doing that? But what he’d said, she wanted that too.
It sounded amazing and fantastic, and yeah, they’d gone about this relationship completely the wrong way, but she wanted exactly what he’d just described. She wanted it so badly.
He didn’t blink, didn’t scrunch his nose, didn’t even twitch a lip.
“I regularly rep three hundred. I’ll go down to two-seventy if I want to do more reps.
I can deadlift closer to four on a bad day and over four on a good day.
” Ghost traced a finger around the curve of her face.
“I’m not telling you this because I want you to gain or lose weight, baby.
I’m telling you this, so you don’t think you have to for me.
I only care about your health and happiness. ”
Becks felt heat rise within her chest. Why was it so hot that he was so strong?
“I told you before, I don’t have a bad outlook about myself.
Yes, I’m a bigger girl, but I came to terms with never wearing a bikini in public a long time ago.
I love salads because I love salads. I’m not always chasing the next fad diet.
” She bent to kiss his toned abs above his belly button.
“But my body will change, Ghost. Especially because we just had unprotected sex multiple times. You can’t switch out my breakfast every time you think I’m eating for one reason or another. ”
“The fuck I can’t,” he argued back. “Unless you’re dealing with an illness or morning sickness, I never want to see you drinking that green shit again.
Completely unnecessary. You want to exercise more?
Great! I go running daily, but I will happily walk with you, if you would rather do that.
Or come to the club’s gym with me, and we’ll work out together.
But torturing yourself with drinking forest diarrhea is completely unnecessary. ”
Becks licked her lips, unable to keep the smile off her face. “The club has a gym?”
“Not a public one, but we converted half of our garage into one for the members to use.”
“And you’d really let me workout with you?”
Now Ghost reacted. “Of course!”
“And you’re not going to make fun of me or go all macho he-man on me just because you’re more physically fit than I am?”
Ghost growled low, “Fuck no! And if any of my brothers try that shit on you, you tell me and I’ll kick their ass.”
Becks sat up. Careful to not knee him in the groin again, because it was quickly becoming her favorite part of his anatomy, Becks crawled over him to straddle his abdomen. “Or you could teach me to kick their ass myself.”
Their fingers laced as if magnetized towards each other.
“You’d want to learn?” Ghost sounded excited by this concept.
“I can’t guarantee I’ll be any good at it, and there is the fact that I’m likely going to get pregnant by you very soon, but yeah, I’d like to learn. At least basic stuff. I doubt I’ll ever be able to go all Po on their asses.”
“Really?” Ghost’s lips tipped up into the start of a smile. “All the martial arts movies out there, and Kung Fu Panda is the best reference you’ve got?”
She smiled down at him. “The fact that you even knew who I was talking about says that you and I are going to get along swimmingly.”
“We better,” he declared. “We’re stuck with each other.
Forever. There’s no such thing as divorce in my world, Rebel.
You’re stuck with me for eternity.” That certainly wasn’t the threat he tried to make it sound like in her mind.
It actually sounded amazing. “And I’ve been helping out with the club kids recently, babysitting and whatnot.
So my children’s movie references have gone way up.
I even know the lyrics now to Let It Go and have my own tiara for tea parties. ”
Becks laughed before using their joined hands to cover her mouth. “I love that so much.” She lowered their hands back down to his chest. More seriously, she asked, “Liam said you’ve been really stressed recently. Is that because you’re president now?”
Ghost shrugged. “Part of it. There’s just never enough time in the day. He thought coming here would destress me.” Lifting a finger, he gestured between the two of them. “Pretty sure this weekend didn’t go how any of us anticipated.”
