Chapter Four #2

She went to slap him around the face, but he caught her hand and shook his head. “Don’t do that,” he said. “I don’t deserve to be hit.”

She glared at him. “I am not using you. How dare you even imply that!”

“What do you expect me to think? You get your period and you, what, vanish on me?”

Her face had gone a delightful shade of red. She looked so cute when she was angry. It made him want to make her angry more, but right now he was the one that was pissed and he wanted answers.

“I don’t know what you want to think. What I don’t think is a good idea is talking about it now when my sister is about to arrive, and your ex-wife and daughter are in the house.”

“You’re worried about Nancy?”

“I’m worried about a lot of things. I’m worried about Eden, and I’m worried about Charlotte.

And yes, I am worried about your ex-wife feeling hurt or betrayed because of us.

There is a lot at stake here, and not only that, are we both, like, completely insane?

We had unprotected sex, and it was hot, and I loved every second of it, but do you have any idea the risks that are involved, and you’re not exactly known for being in relationships, and I make a lot of bad choices, like right now, I am still talking, and you’re smiling at me, and you need to get me to stop freaking talking! ” She stopped and took a deep breath.

“I liked my dick being inside you as well.” He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to the corner of her lips.

“This is not helping,” she said. “I don’t fall into bed with a man after just one date. I don’t have unprotected sex.”

He kissed down to her neck and sucked on her pulse.

“But do you like sneaking around?” he asked.

She moaned. “I don’t know. I don’t know what this is, and I don’t want Eden worrying. She’s pregnant and a new wife, and I don’t know what this is.”

Doc knew exactly what this was, but he was happy to work at Maeve’s pace. He had already fallen for her. She was everything he had ever wanted and didn’t even realize he needed. He couldn’t get enough of her. This is what he never got from Nancy.

“So, before we come clean to everyone, why don’t we explore this ourselves? No one has to know. We keep it between us, but that does mean you don’t fucking ghost me. You don’t ignore me, and when you’ve got worries or concerns, you come to me.”

“Is that what you want to do?”

“It’s our only choice right now, unless you want to go in there, the two of us, together?”

She nibbled her lip, and she looked so ... scared. He had no idea about her previous relationships, but he was going to find out.

“Okay, we keep this between us. I won’t ignore you, and we can make this work, and that way it doesn’t cause any trouble for anyone else.”

He smiled. “You got to kiss me, though.”

“Doc?”

“I’m not leaving until you kiss me.”

She cupped his face, and he was sure she was just going to peck him on the lips, but there was no way he was going to allow that. He pulled her in close, kissed her hard, and he heard her soft moan. It sounded so good, even to him.

That one kiss was not enough, though. He had to restrain himself, and he let her go, smacking her ass so she could make her way inside.

He stayed outside, getting his dick under control, because all he wanted to do was fuck her, but that was not allowed, not yet.

No one came outside, and he heard the cheers as Razor and Eden arrived, so he stepped inside and made his way toward the front door.

Maeve and Eden were embracing. There was more to Maeve than met the eye. She was a confident, strong woman, but something had happened to her. Her parents’ death deeply affected her, but there was more to her than that.

She cupped Eden’s face, and he saw the tears in Maeve’s eyes. The two sisters were close, but he also knew there was a time limit right now.

Razor was Eden’s husband, and they were going to have a baby. Were they going to move in here, or the clubhouse, and find a new place to live? Those were the questions, and only time, along with Eden and Razor, could answer them.

He looked around the room as most of the club were in their home. They could have had this at the clubhouse, but Maeve had insisted on having it here. What was so important about having it here? He didn’t know for certain, but he was going to find out.

Razor came toward him and held his hand out, which he shook.

“It’s good to have you back,” Doc said.

“It’s good to be back.”

Doc chuckled. “You’re not an Italian man?”

Razor laughed. Eden and Razor went to Italy for their honeymoon. It was a fully paid experience, but he knew Razor was not the kind of traveling man to leave the country. He loved to travel on his bike, roaming the country he was born in, not flying on a plane to a different one.

“It was an experience. One I hope Eden loved and I never have to do again.”

Doc looked toward Maeve. She traveled a lot for work. He wondered if that was something she wanted to continue experiencing.

Glancing across the room, he saw Nancy staring at him, and he knew he’d upset her. He moved across the room and waited. “Go on, what is it?”

“It’s nothing. You’re right. I can’t make Charlotte do something she doesn’t want to do. She is her own person and if I keep trying to do something like that, I am just going to push her away. That is not my intention,” she said. “I don’t want her to make the wrong choices. You know, like me.”

Doc had gotten over Nancys bluntness years ago. They both knew neither of them wanted the other. It was a fucked-up situation that had kept them together.

“She’s not going to make the same mistakes,” he said.

“You don’t know that. She looks at everything with stars in her eyes.” Nancy sighed. “Look, I don’t want to argue. Let’s not.”

He was good with that.

It was a miracle Nancy hadn’t taken offense with him. This was a win-win in his book.
