Chapter 7 #3
“All that and it wasn’t what’s on yer…” His gaze dipped down and Daisy froze as she caught him clearly drifting his big, brown eyes over her chest. She finally defrosted enough to glance down and remember—ship tank top.
Right. Easy breezy. Nipples hard as rocks.
She cleared her throat, rushing to cross her arms over her chest. He sputtered, shaking his head like he was entranced.
“What was on yer chest—er not, chest. Yer…you know what? Never mind that. What were you wantin’ to say? ”
She laughed nervously. What did I want to say? That you’re really pretty when you work? That I like this weird tension between us? That I want you? Licking her lips, she shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
“No, it’s not. Go on, speak it.” He dropped the sandpaper into the white bucket of other tools he brought with him. When his gaze raked back up her body, the words bubbled up in her chest. This is a bad idea.
And yet, the confession spilled out her mouth. “I think you’re really pretty.”
Ryzer’s eyebrows shot up to his horns. “I’m? Pretty?”
“What? Like no one’s ever called you pretty?
” She hugged the blanket to her chest and tried to ignore the instant zing that went to her cunt.
The abrasive fabric against her nipples wasn’t what she wanted against them.
She craved his big, broad hands wrapped around them.
Just to see if they’re have as rough as they seem.
“No,” he stated point blank.
“Bullshit.”
“Ah!” He waggled a finger at her. “Good one.”
“Oh, I wasn’t,” she flushed harder, slapping a hand to her mouth. Daisy wasn’t trying to be punny. But the giggles filled her chest and her shoulders trembled. He cocked a singular brow at her.
Ryzer ducked his head, raking a hand through his hair.
Daisy took her cue to bow out. She’d flown too close to his gravity and was close to being ripped down to the surface.
If she didn’t pull back now, she might do worse than confess he was pretty.
Daisy turned in her slippers, remembering not to shuffle and to take full steps, when a hand shot out.
She gasped as it cupped around her shoulder and spun her back.
Her back hit the wall as Ryzer stood directly in front of her.
He engulfed her in his shadow, the small lamp he was using unable to help her.
Not as his other arm caged her in, nor as he leaned in toward her.
It all happened in a split second. She didn’t hear his words till after their lips were crashed together. “Oh, fuck it.”
The hand on her shoulder was in her hair, foisting her chin upwards.
Her fingers lost their grip on the blanket.
She raced them up the front of his shirt to his shoulders, then around the back of his head.
The groan trapped between their mouths, she couldn’t recall if it came from her or him, but it was shared.
His tongue came for hers first and she melted.
Daisy fell forward into him only to be pressed backward, their bodies meeting.
Unfortunately, he was much taller. Fortunately, he knew his strength.
Ryzer dropped both hands to her thighs and dragged her back up the wall till her ankles were thrown around his waist like a loose belt.
He pressed back into her and she gasped.
Lips only apart for a moment, the world was a dizzy haze.
Daisy sucked down a pocket of air before he dove back in for more.
Her stomach filled with giddy, nervous butterflies as his hands explored her.
Up and down her thighs, around her hips, up the sides of her torso, he worked around all her curves like he did the door frame.
When the pads of his thumbs flicked across her nipples, however, her body trembled.
She dug her fingernails into his scalp. Ryzer moaned into her mouth and she remembered he wasn’t good at keeping quiet.
“Shh,” she giggled softly, breaking the seal they’re made with their mouths. “You’ll wake up the farm.”
As if to accentuate her point, a rooster sang out into the morning. They both sighed, hanging their heads back. So much for going back to bed. Ryzer slid her back down to her feet. Then, he bent down and plucked the blanket off the floor.
“I think it goes without sayin’, but I find you rather pretty too.” Ryzer handed the fabric back to her with a grunt.
“I’d hope so, or else that would have been really awkward,” she snorted, unable to even look him in the eye.
Instead, she focused on worrying the blanket in her hands.
Then he cupped her chin, and her gaze drifted up his chest to his face.
The smile returned to her lips as he spent a long moment memorizing every feature.
“Get dressed, Sweets. I’ll meet you on the porch.” Ryzer left her with a wink. He scooped up his bucket and wood filler and disappeared into his bedroom. As the chickens began up their usual cacophony, Daisy wandered back to her room.
For the first time in a long time, she felt like she was floating out in space.
