Chapter 4
CHAPTER FOUR
Ciara
All week I thought of nothing but the bouncer at the club. I didn’t know his name, couldn’t do any type of social media stalking, and drove myself and my friends nuts trying to find out any information about him.
So, the following Friday evening, I couldn’t stand it any longer.
I dressed myself up to the nines and headed to the club.
Maybe I could keep trying to ignore whatever was between us. Maybe it was a bad idea and nothing good would come from it.
But life was about excitement. Adventure. And new possibilities. I spent years with Jack, loveless years I couldn’t get back.
I wanted to have fun, to feel explosive passion with someone, to fall madly in love.
We don’t get many chances.
And that’s what pushed me to end things with Jack. I thought my parents would be so disappointed, or my younger sister wouldn’t have a good role model, but I was wrong. All they cared about was my happiness. The same with my friends. My happiness wasn’t with Jack.
Maybe it’s with him.
As soon as our eyes connected from across the room, my stomach flipped upside down.
I wanted him so badly.
So fucking bad…
Squeezing my legs together, I lifted my hand, pointed at him, and motioned for him to come here.
He didn’t hesitate. Not for a second.
As he marched towards me, through the crowd on the dance floor, straight and direct to me.
Before I could say a word, his hands were on my waist, and he was pulling me onto the dance floor.
He began to dance, and I followed his lead, our hips swaying as we moved to the beat. He dropped his hands from my waist and we danced, getting into the song together. I turned and pushed my back into him, bending over at the waist to rub my ass against him.
I snuck a look at his face behind me, his eyes dark and hazy, as he watched my ass move, his hands landing on my waist once more. When I straightened my back and leaned against him, I turned my head to the side bringing our lips closer together.
He moved his lips to my ear, tickling me with his breath, sending shivers down my spine. “I hoped you’d come back, Ciara.”
“I can’t stop thinking about you, and I don’t even know your name.”
“It’s Blaze.” He growled before kissing my neck. “We need to get out of here.”
“I kind of enjoy dancing with you.” I said as I spun myself around and wrapped my arms around his neck. Our hips moved in sync, and I pressed myself against him, wanting to feel his sexy rock-hard body against mine.
“So, do I. But I’m supposed to be working.” Blaze buried his face in my neck and nipped at the sensitive, tender skin there.
“Kiss me and I’ll go.”
“No, I’m not letting you get away for a second time. Let me see what I can do.” Blaze said before taking my hand and leading me off the dance floor. “Wait here.” He pulled out a bar stool and pointed to it. “Alex, make sure she’s good, okay?”
The pretty bartender walked over, a big smile on her face. “Will do, Blaze. Can I get you anything to drink, sweetheart?”
“Water would be great.” I said. I wanted to stay sober tonight. Not only did I drive here, but I also wanted to make clear decisions. Though I already made up my mind. I was spending the night with Blaze.
After Alex brought me a glass of water, I sipped on it while waiting for Blaze to return.
Less than ten minutes later, he was back. “I need to stay for another hour or so. Are you cool with that?”
I nodded. “I don’t mind.”
As he got back to work, I people watched, the time passing by quickly.
Blaze didn’t keep me far from sight though, shooting me winks and little grins, often walking by so he could brush a hand over my leg.
He made sure I was comfortable and that they topped my drink off, even bringing me out a snack from the vending machines in the employee break room.
“I’ve never seen Blaze act this way towards a woman before. Hell, I had no idea he even had a girlfriend. Have you guys been dating a while?”
“Oh no, I’m not his girlfriend. We’re not dating. I’m just hanging out until he gets off his shift.”
“Interesting.”
“Oh God, don’t tell me he does this all the time. Picks up girls from here and takes them home?” I covered my face with my hands and peeked between my fingers.
Alex laughed. “Girl, I’ve never even seen him talk to a woman, never mind bring one home. That’s why I was so surprised when he brought you over to sit, asked to leave early…like what? This isn’t the Blaze I know.”
My cheeks flamed red hot. Oh, my God…
I wanted to say something, but no words formed. Is she telling the truth?
“Really?”
“Yes, really. How did you two meet?”
“Actually, here. Last weekend I came in with my friends. I came here tonight because I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him.” I confessed, unsure why I was to a girl I hardly knew but somehow felt comfortable sharing with.
“Can’t say I blame you. He’s a fine-looking man. But honestly, I’ve never seen him so much as look at a girl. We all assumed he had a girlfriend. I’d say he likes you.” Alex winked and walked away as Blaze came up beside me.
“Anything good you two are gossiping about?” Blaze asked as he leaned down and kissed my ear and then my cheek, only brushing his lips near my mouth.
I whimpered, the sound pathetic, but I didn’t care. The teasing was killing me. “Of course it’s good.” I stood up and smoothed my skirt down, pretending like I didn’t just actually whimper at him.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close against him. “One dance before we go?”
I nodded, excitement buzzing through me. “I thought you’d never ask.”
