Halo: Tales Of A Hitman

Halo: Tales Of A Hitman

By Londyn Lenz

Halo Stone

I hate everyone! Mommy, daddy, Principal Webbs and my teacher Ms. Tacker.

All of them agreed to separate me and my brothers Golden and Greek.

They claimed that when we are in the same classroom together that we ‘goof off’ and do not listen.

Now, I am in Ms. Tacker stupid class with these stupid kids who all say stupid things.

Then to make this day suck even more Ms. Tacker gave us a match quiz today. If you did not finish the eight problems, then you could not go outside for recess after lunch. That was the best part about school. I had one more problem left and I was trying to finish before Terry Mitchell.

He and I had the same crush on Anna. If he goes outside before me then he will go under the jungle gym with her. That’s where two people went and when they came out that meant they ‘go together. I wanted it to be me and Anna not her and Terry and his bad breath.

“I’m finish Ms. Tacker.” I announced with a raised hand and a giant smile on my face.

“Okay Halo, bring up your work and leave your pencil on your desk.” She instructed me.

When I got up, Terry looked like he wanted to punch me. I covered my mouth in a laugh when I saw he was only on the second problem. He always had a hard time with multiplication problems.

Ms. Tracker had her big, black round glasses on that she let rest on the end of her nose. Me and my brother made fun of her hairy mole on the right side of her cheek all the time. She wore only ruffle dresses with stockings that had a run in them all the time with white shoes.

The wig she wore was black and looked like it should be on a clown. I knew it was a wig because it moved when she scratched it. She looked at my quiz then to me and spoke.

“When you apply yourself, the results are good. Go ahead and eat lunch then enjoy recess.”

I left the classroom very happy that I beat Terry. The steel door closed behind me, and I did a little dance before I noticed my shoes were untied. I bent down to tie my new black and red Air Force ones. They matched my black and red Sixers Allen Iverson jersey.

My dad surprised me and my brothers were jerseys of our favorite basketball player. Once I tied my shoes, I took off running down the long hall towards the cafeteria.

“Young man you need to slow down.”

I heard a voice behind me speak and I stopped. If we were caught running in the halls then detention was issued. That meant staying after school and cleaning homeroom with Ms. Tracker. My brother Golden knows that punishment very well. I have never been in trouble and do not want to be.

I turned around and the woman in front of me looked like Megara from my favorite movie Hercules Except this lady had lighter skin complexion. All the teachers were a fat old man whose pants were high. They had terrible wigs, hairy moles or reminded me of my grandma.

No way could this lady be a teacher. She wore a long skirt with a soft looking shirt that buttoned up to her neck and tied in the front.

The skirt was not big on her, it was tight and she wore heels.

Heels that I saw my mommy wearing when her and daddy go out on dates.

Her hair was straight, black, and very long.

The smile on her face, the way she looked at me made me feel just like I was Hercules and she was for sure Megara.

“Sorry. I finished my quiz and its pizza day in the cafeteria.” I nervously answered.

“Pizza day, well, wouldn’t want you to miss that. But your safety is more important, Wouldn’t you say?”

“Y-yes Megara. I-I mean mam.” Oh God I called her Megara! I am so stupid! Like Terry when he does multiplication.

Her slanted, grey eyes stayed on me, and she let out a laugh that almost made my eyes cross together.

“Megara. I see, so that makes you my Hercules. And as my Hercules I need you not to run in the halls. We do not want you to get in trouble or worse, hurt. Can you do that for me, can you use that smart brain of yours and be good?”

I nodded my head and when her smile got bigger, I matched it.

“Great. Have a good lunch.”

I turned around and walked towards the cafeteria.

“See you later Hercules.”

She said as I walked and I felt like I floated to my destination.

“Halo, forget playing freeze tag! Terry is going under the jungle gym with Anna!” Greek ran over from across the playground warning me.

“I don’t care.” I told him then finished the ‘Enney Meeny Miny Moe’ song around everyone’s foot who was in.

“You don’t care! Halo, you not about to let Terry and his stank ass breath steal your girl! Not my brother!”

Greek yanked me by my shirt so fast that I thought I was flying. I was the youngest of a triplet set. Greek was the oldest, ten minutes later Golden came then I came fifteen minutes after. Me and my brothers sometimes move like one person. Our parents tell us that it’s a good and bad thing.

Greek was more like daddy. He kept me and Golden in line sometimes. We had each other’s back like our parents always taught us. If anyone messes with one, then they have three to deal with. Sometimes, Greek can take his duty as the oldest very serious, this was one of those times.

“You are a Stone. Nobody takes what we want. Daddy tells us that all the time. Why don’t you care?

” Greek had me and him on the side of the school in private of everyone playing.

He had on high top Air Force One’s like I did.

Except his were red and white. His basketball jersey was Ben Wallace from the Pistons.

“I care what daddy told us and I do care about Terry going with Anna under the jungle gym.”

“A’ight so go break that shit up Halo. Terry is not about to tell everyone that he took a Stone’s girl.”

Greek had a way about him, we were the same age, same height, same long hair and we both had heterochromia.

That means we have different colored eyes.

Mommy passed that down to us, our left eye is light hazel, and our right eye was green.

Although my brothers and I were similar, we had different ways too.

Greek was more intimidating and normally me and Golden did not argue with him. Instead of telling him about my new crush, I decided to go over to the jungle gym and break up whatever Terry and Anna were about to do.

“Eww! Your break smells like old milk!” Anna screamed and pushed Terry away from her.

It was so funny, the ones around who heard it laughed and so did I. Greek and Golden even laugh. Anna wiped her cheek where Terry must have kissed her. I went and grabbed her hand then we walked under the jungle gym. Everyone started making fun of Terry and telling him how he lost.

“I don’t like Terry. He smells like rotten milk.” Anna told me. Her long ponytails were my favorite thing about her. The color braces and how she smelled like bubble gum were the other things.

“Good because he’s a lame who doesn’t know what ten times thirty is. It’s three hundred.”

Anna giggled at what I said then she gave me a kiss on the lips. It was fast but to me it was slow and my first kiss. I looked at her and thought about how daddy kisses mommy. He grabs her booty then kisses her. So, I did it like he did. Anna was shocked but she let me kiss her.

“We go together now.” I told her.

“Okay.” Anna said nicely.

“I’ll get your chips for you on Friday and make sure you have pencils for English class. My daddy says a man takes care of his woman.”

The bell rang after I let her know that. We all ran towards the doors of the school so we could resume with the rest of the day. Greek and Golden were happy that I had a girlfriend just like they did. We had to separate, I went to art class, Golden went to science and Greek went to math.

“Halo, I heard you and Anna go together.” Mark said then he sat at the desk next to me.

“She is so if Terry tries to kiss her again me and my brothers will beat his ass.” I unzipped my bookbag and took my folder out.

“Can you hook me up with her sister?”

“No Mark. If you get a girlfriend that means you will have to hold her hand and buy her chips on Fridays.” I reminded him.

“Yeah, so?”

“Dude, you have ashy hands and never have money for chips on Friday. My daddy says a man takes care of his woman. You can’t buy her chips or lotion for your hands.”

“Can to! I can get lotion from home, and I can steal the chips. Mr. Benton falls asleep because he’s old and fat. Jerome and his friends do it all the time.”

He made me laugh so hard that I did not hear Mr. Markle enter the room until the door closed.

“Hello class, I am Mrs. Toll.”

The voice wasn’t Mr. Benton at all but it was one I heard before lunch.

It was Megara. She walked over to the desk and placed the things in her hand down.

Then she walked around and leaned in front of the desk.

Her eyes scanned the room and stopped when she got to me for a few seconds then she started speaking again.

“I know you all are confused, so let me explain. Mr. Benton has decided to put in early for his retirement. I know it is hard when someone leaves and does not say goodbye. But he told me many good things about his students. If you all will have me, I would be honored to be your new art teacher.”

All of us clapped and told her that it was ok. That made her happy, she had each of us stand. We told our names, our favorite things about art and one fun fact about ourselves.

“My name is Halo Stone. My favorite thing about art is the color pencils. My parents got me a color pencil set and it has so many shades and their sharp. A fun fact about me is I am a triplet.”

“And he has a girlfriend who is so fine!” Darius was blurted out from the back of the room, and it cracked everyone up including Mrs. Toll.

“A girlfriend is a fun fact. Thank you for adding that, Darius. I see you are someone I’ll have to keep an eye on. My little motor mouth.” Mrs. Toll looked at him with the same smile she had given me earlier.
