Halo 19yrs old #2
Here my brother was, pleading with me to tell him what was truly wrong. To tell him why I jump out of my sleep every night. How could I tell him what happened for two months in the fifth grade?
What kind of bitch ass man would that make me if I’m still traumatized by something that probably most boys shouldn’t complain about. How in my sleep, the smell of cigarettes and Burberry Britt would invade my nose.
As soon as it did my nose felt like it was bleeding, I couldn’t breathe and I’d jump up. It was not in me to tell it, even though Greek just admitted that he and Golden knew my change came before our parents died. I looked down at my folded hands and I talked.
“I’m just not like you and Golden. I thought I was but I’m not and sometimes it bothers me. On top of that I miss dad and mama, that’s all Greek. Nothing more nothing less.”
“A’ight, when you say different what do you mean?”
I had no way to answer that because it meant saying it out loud and I never have. I never even said it to myself.
My shoulders shrugged and I said, “Just different, that’s all I got for you now.”
Greek pressed his lips together and he gave me a hug then he stood up. When he kissed the top of my head I wanted to break down because again, he did what our dad used to.
“I’ll take that for now but remember what I said. The best of me is you and Golden. Love you brother.”
“I love you too.”
When he closed the door, I put the towel on the nightstand and laid back down. His words meant everything to me, and it got me emotional. As my tears fell, I wanted to go out and admit to him and Golden my secrets.
But I just cried and swallowed my truth, I put my childhood blanket on top of my face, and the smell helped me fall back to sleep.

Madrid, Spain Sixteen hours later
“We should have asked for more money.” I said while I flew the drone way over the Perez’s mansion.
We had the best high-end technology that we got from overseas. This drone was small and had a very good body heat camera on it. That way we could count how many people were on the property. The three of us were wearing all-black, hiding on the grass covered hill behind the mansion.
“I count six guards, the house in the back must be where the help stays because I see five people entered it at the same time. The siblings are in their bedrooms. Don Bacallao was right. Their kids are not at home.” Greek alerted us while he looked at the mini screen that showed the drone’s camera footage.
“Good because I wasn’t in the mood to kill any kids. At least not this trip.” Golden added. He unzipped the black duffle bag and started assembling our guns.
Unfortunately, our job has consisted of us going on a killing spree and kids have been involved. Golden was more open to doing that, so we gladly let him do the honors. Any job that requires that always had something to do with the mob/mafia.
Or revenge from a person whose child was killed by someone else. Those hired hits are heavy on me sometimes but it’s what happens in this twisted world. It had to make sense to us for us to take the job.
Involving kids was the only job that we did not take lightly. It took time for us to investigate the reason and make sure no lies were told.
“A’ight, we all set, let’s get to it.” Greek put the mini screen in the duffle bag.
I got the drone back in my possession and disassembled it. Once that was done it was time for us to put our silencers on our guns and make sure they were in our waist. Me and Golden put our book bags on. Greek put the duffle bag on his back.
Then Golden handed us the dart guns. Each carried two cartilages full of high dosages of botulinum toxin. When injected death comes within two minutes.
“We all good?” Greek checked on me and Golden.
After we gave him the ‘okay’ it was time for us to move in. The good thing about this job was the grounds had no cameras. That was going to make the entry easier. There was a guard at the gate. Greek gave the signal for me to take the first out of six out.
I aimed at my dart gun and waited for the guard to get in perfect sight. Once he did, I pulled the trigger and he went down like a drunk horse. In seconds, he started shaking and foam came out of his mouth.
Golden knew how to manage tech, so he manipulated the keypad and got us in. We moved around the property like the wind in the night. The dark spots were the ones we stayed in so we could remain invisible.
Greek took out two other guards, and their reaction was the same as the first one. There were four more and they were inside the home. The side door was open for the guards that were outside to enter. We went in that way and as soon as we entered, a guard spotted us.
Golden then shot him before he could make noise. I went and moved his body from the hallway so he wouldn’t be seen. The last three guards were somewhere in the house, but we agreed not to separate until we got all six.
“You hear that?” Golden whispered to us.
There were footsteps coming then the guard Greek just killed walkie talkie was going off.
“?Está todo claro? (Everything clear)” The guard asked in the walkie talkie.
The footsteps got closer, Golden aimed his gun and was ready to shoot. As soon as the man turned the corner, he shot him. When he hit the floor dead, we moved slowly down the hall. The last guard was somewhere, and we did not need to run into him openly.
There was Spanish being spoken further down the hall.
It was the last guard calling someone’s name in the walkie talkie.
It was one of the guards I shot outside.
Greek pointed to his ear then to the room on the left.
I went in closer and the talking became clear.
Once I turned past the wall the guard was in my sight.
I shot him with a dart in his head and he fell forward. His gun hit the floor, and it made a noise, but I was glad it did not go off. The guards were all dead, so we moved up the long stairs and approached the first bedroom.
Because of the drone we knew where (Perez’s siblings) Valeria, Martina and Rodrigo’s rooms were. Now it was time for us to separate, Greek took the brother room, Golden got one sister and I got Martina.
In a few minutes we had the three were bound to a chair.
Rodrigo tried to fight Greek, but he was no match.
His face showed that my big brother got the best of him.
He was in front of his sisters with his arms, chest, feet, and legs taped behind them.
The girls were crying badly and Rodrigo was begging us.
Golden walked back into the living room, and he put his silencer back on his side. “Lights out.” He told me and Greek. That meant he went to the back house where the help was and shot them in the head.
“Please! Greek, you’re the oldest and wisest! Whatever they are paying you we can double it! Tripple it! Noooo! No!!!” He shouted louder when Greek picked up a huge knife from the duffle bag and stabbed him on his right side. He pulled it out then stabbed his left side the same way.
“Now, you know once we are on a job there is no negation talk. This isn’t personal, just business. Your kids will be fine, know that and take peace with that.”
Greek informed Rodrigo then he held his head back and slit his throat. He did not stop there. Greek cut his throat deep to the point that Rodrigo’s head hung back by the skin. His sisters screamed and started begging us to spare them. When they saw it wasn’t working then the insults came.
“You are nothing but minions! Cowards hired you coons to---” I grabbed Martina by her jaws shutting her up.
“You talk way to fucking much but I know how to make you eat them words.” With my hand still holding her jaw I took the bottle of bleach out of my book bag, and I took the top off.
She tried to wiggle in her chair, but the duct tape and my weight held her still. I made her mouth open and in the middle of her screaming the bleach was poured down her throat. Martina choked, the gurgling sounds were loud.
Then the sizzling sounds were heard, bubbles came out of her mouth, and they turned red from her blood. I smiled at my handy work and the sight of her insides cooking from the bleach.
I could see the life slip away from her eyes and they filled with red blood too. Then, she stopped moving and was dead as a door nail. Her sister, Valeria, was crying softly and praying in Spanish. Golden laughed then told her in Spanish that he would leave her alive.
Me and Greek looked at each other and chuckled because we knew what he was doing. Valeria believed him and started thanking him. He took his knife out and made it seem like he was about to cut her loose.
Instead, he stuck the knife in the side of her neck. Pulled it out and her blood spilled out. Then he cut both of her eyes out and shot her in the head. Our way seemed gruesome, but we had to make it look like a torture kill instead of a straight execution.
That way when the rest of the Perez family see it, they’ll think it was a mafia kill.
Once we were done, we left and made sure to keep the front door open.
Me and my brothers were out of sight, $150,000 richer and on our private jet in the morning.
A hot shower and My Big Fat Greek Wedding movie was calling my name.
