Story Macallister #4
I rinsed the shampoo out and the water gave his hair an extra sleek look. It was so fascinating to me. Then I grabbed the avocado conditioner and put a lot of it in his hair. My fingers worked their way through his scalp and his ends. His eyes closed and Halo looked relaxed and fine as ever.
“Nope, my best friend came with me.” I answered as my fingers went under his hair to the back of his neck. I could feel his small curls forming from the water and products.
“That’s dope. Do that again.”
“Do what?” I asked him.
“What’chu just did in the back of my hair.”
I repeated what I did, his eyes closed again. This time his bottom lip went in his mouth, and it aroused me.
“Damn that shit feels good.” He confessed with his eyes still closed.
Ooo Lord this man! My mind was screaming repeatedly about him. It was time to do his aloe vera treatment. I grabbed a knife to cut the plant open. Instantly, the gel started falling on his head. I turned the steamer on as I massaged the plant’s gel all over his scalp and ends.
We continued talking and I told him how I got into doing hair. There were some laughs we shared when I talked about my childhood and memories.
After I had his hair cleaned and cleansed. I sectioned it, added some Boom conditioner, stuffed it in a plastic cap, and put him under the dryer for twenty minutes.
“What kind of braids do you want?” I asked him.
Halo took his phone out then went to a video of his style he just had. They were braided to his scalp then turned into individuals. I was pleased to show him how I could do exactly what Regan did. I took his cap off, then started taking down his jumbo twist and blow drying it.
His hair was luxurious, shiny, and very healthy, it grew as I blow dried. When I was done it was time to section it and begin. We chatted for a few then he took his phone out, put one ear bud in his ear, and went to watch a movie.
I was surprised to see him play the movie, My Best Friend’s Wedding. That was a movie I had on my list to watch and here he was watching it. Halo does not look like the kind of guy to watch rom com movies at all. I know most would think What the hell is the look but for those who get does.
He just did not fit the aesthetic, but I guess I shouldn’t judge. Two and a half hours passed, and I was pitting mousse on top of his head. Then I handed him my oval shaped hand mirror so he could see.
I held my breath while he examined. Those unique color eyes looked at me as he held the mirror. He had a half smile on his face and then spoke.
“You hooked me the fuck up boo. I clocked you wrong.” His smile grew as he handed me in the mirror.
I smiled bright too, “Thank you! Told you I had it!”
Giselle and Wren were happy and shouting how good I did. I took Halo’s cape off and he got out of my chair.
“I can book with you next month?” He surprised me even more when he turned and asked me.
“Yeah, of course. Sailor will get you in.” I answered, Sailor was the receptionist at checkout.
I tried my best to play it cool while he walked towards Sailor. I cleaned up and my eyes kept going in his direction. Thank God I was sweeping when he came back over to me.
“Here you go.” He said and handed me a hundred-dollar bill.
“Oh no no, this is way too much.” I shook my head.
Halo got wrinkles in his forehead and said, “Naw, it’s not. Take it boo, you earned this shit for real.”
I hesitated until I saw Wren behind Halo gesturing for me to take it.
“Thank you so much.” I told him with a small smile.
“No problem, I’ll see you next 17th.” After that, he left out of the salon.
“You did that shit girl!” Marley was the first to get excited for me.
“Yes, you did! Wait until Regan finds out!” Giselle added.
“I was so nervous, but I could not let him leave this salon. Why is he so fine!” I admitted.
As soon as I did, they all had face expressions like if I came out of the bathroom with tissue stuck to my shoe.
“Oh, sweets that’s not a road you want to go down.” Marley talked first.
I looked confused and Wren snickered then continued doing her client’s hair. Even the clients were snickering, like a joke that went over my head.
“Can someone fill me in please?” I asked in an annoying way because I hate it when people act like that.
“Halo Stone is fine. We all know that. Him and his brothers are. But Halo is uh, well he’s just different.” Giselle said.
“Different how?” I questioned further.
Giselle kept beating around the bush then Wren blurted out.
“He’s gay pumpkin!”
My eyes bucked open wide and my heart cracked. Then I thought about Hendrix, I was not one to say I knew the signs. Immediately, I swallowed my real feelings and laughed it off.
“Damn, I would have never guessed. Well, I guess I gotta pick one of his brothers!” My joke made them crack up and the subject changed after a while.
As I finished cleaning my area I could not get out of my own head. Halo was not the first gay guy I’ve seen that was attractive. But he was the first that I felt slightly hurt over. It wasn’t even like that when Hendrix came out to me.
But what could I do, Halo was who he was. I could hook him up with Hendrix. A slight wave of jealousy hit me but only a bit. Halo was not for me, on to the next.
