Story
“I like the way those jeans look with the top better than the other pair.” I told Siren when we both came out to the dressing rooms to show each other what we tried on.
“Me too. You should get that yellow top and the blue one. This one you have on is cute, but I don’t like the bottom.” Siren protested.
I looked down at it. “Me neither, it looks odd and gives my waist a square shape.”
We both went back to the dressing rooms to put on our regular clothes. Siren and I were off today so we decided to go to Southland Mall. I tied my top in the back then put my floral Nike slides on.
Today I was simple in a pair of black jeggings with a backless top that tied in the back and around my neck. My hair was in a messy side bun and a few pieces hanging in the back. Siren was simple but cute too, she wore a strapless two-piece set with a pair of pretty wedges.
“Thank you so much ladies, please come again.” The cashier said goodbye to us after we paid for our clothes.
“Have a good day.” Me and Siren smiled and said the same thing to her.
We walked out of the store and went to the next.
“How are you and Blake? I saw her IG story last night, you two are freaky.” I asked and teased her.
Blake posted a video of her laying between Siren’s legs. She did not have any panties on. You couldn’t see her pussy because the back of Blake’s head covered it. The smile on her face when she held the camera was seductive. She used my girl’s pussy as a pillow.
Siren blushed and laughed, “I wanted to kill her for posting that. But it was so hot and her DMs blew up with girls mad. Blake and I always read her DMs, mine too.”
“Oooo, I know y’all be having them girls hating!”
We stopped at the phone booth in the middle of the mall because I wanted a new bedazzled phone case. I told the Indian man what kind of Android I had, and he showed me which side of his booth had the cases that fit it.
“Girl! You have no idea! They be big mad! It’s so humorous to us. But we are doing very good, that’s my wife. Our only problem is when because we spend a lot of time together. Our periods have synced together. We have been coming on at the same time for three months now.”
I found an adorable phone case that was pink and silver. The man took my old one off and put the new one on. I took some cash out of my purse so I could pay him. Halo gave me money like he did anytime I went out or had plans.
“I know that must be hell. Who asks the worst?”
“Me! I am nothing nice the first two days and she’s sensitive. One time she cried because she said I did not love her anymore. I asked her why she thought that. Blake told me it’s because I turned my back on her when I laid down.”
I tried not to laugh but it couldn’t hold it.
“Then her last three days she’s mean and I’m sensitive! I called her phone when she answered she normally says What’s up buttercup. But she answered Yeah Siren when I called her. Story, I cried an hour straight!” Siren cracked up along with me.
“I would be cuckoo! Y’all are so funny but I am glad you two are doing good. Blake does not play about you. I can tell when we all are together and when she calls to check on you. I adore that.”
“Let’s not act like Halo isn’t the same with you. That man went from quiet and hidden to loud, seen and Story’s walking property.”
I smiled and stuck my tongue out as we walked to the food court. “That’s my babe, I love him so much.”
She stopped walking then screamed like we were not out in public.
“Siren.” I shamefully looked around and tried to calm down the situation.
“Sorry but you did not tell me that you told Halo you love him! When and what did he say!?”
It had been a week since I told Halo that I loved him, and I say it a few times a day. It was either in person, over the phone or in a text message. I may have been scared to say it but now I couldn’t wait to say those words.
I started telling Siren what happened from our argument, me not going to his aunt and uncle’s anniversary party.
Then how and when we made up. Siren already knew how I felt about him and Dallas’s new friendship from the second I found out about it.
But I did not tell her when Dallas called Halo’s phone and I answered.
“Let’s start with Dallas first. I told you from the beginning that you were not wrong to be cautious. Before you moved here everybody knew she was on Halo bad. It was embarrassing because the rumors of him being gay.
Now that we all were clearly wrong, she wants to turn around and be his friend. No. I would not be easy like Sunday morning if she tried to be my man’s friend either.”
“True but the way Halo acts about it makes me believe that nothing ever was going on. He leaves his phone around without care, I have his password. If I’m near his phone and he’s not, he tells me to check it or sometimes answers it.”
We went inside of Macy’s.
“I think Halo’s intentions are friendship but Dallas. Mmhm. I side eye that bitch.” Siren turned her nose up.
“Well, the friendship is over from what he told me. He said that he does not want to do anything that I’m not comfortable with. But now…I don’t know I could be nitpicking.”
I picked up a pair of Jessica Simpson heels that I liked.
“You’re not. What is it?” Siren wanted to know.
“Halo is a little different now, nothing bad. But he’s more attentive, if I miss his call or don’t text back right away, he panics. He doesn’t get angry, but he thinks I’m mad at him. It’s as if he is trying to be this perfect boyfriend with no flaws.
We were at his place last night. I woke up before him and went to make breakfast for us. Halo ran in the kitchen calling my name. he hugged me and said he thought I left. There is some…trauma he had when he was little. So, I am guessing that it plays apart of this new behavior.”
Siren listened and looked so concerned, “That could be a factor. The way the tragic way The Stone brother’s parents died is very traumatic. He feels at any moment life would take you from him.”
“Yeah, you might be right.” I agreed.
I did not want to tell Siren that Halo is glued to his phone now.
He’s not always on it but he takes it everywhere he goes now.
He may not have noticed that I noticed it, but I did I also did not and would never tell Siren about Halo’s childhood trauma.
It was no secret about how their parents died so I let her think that’s the trauma I was speaking on.
But Siren did make me think about some stuff. Like when she told me that he also could be acting like that because I finally told him that I love him. Now he’s scared that he’d wake up and his happiness wasn’t real.
It may sound far fetch but it made sense to me. Regardless, I might have to bring this up to Halo just so I can understand where mind is at. I decided not to get the heels, but Siren bought Guess sandals. Then we both went to the MAC counter and got some makeup.
“Story?”
Me and Siren turned around when someone called my name. It was Dallas, she was with her cousin Aspen. Golden had her around lately and I learned her name. I do not see how she delt with him. Golden was a first-class man whore.
“I knew that was you. Hi Siren.” Dallas spoke.
Siren waved but the expression on her face was a phony smile.
“I’m not coming to cause any trouble. I wanted to just say that I am sorry if I caused problems for you and Halo.
I know when we first met, I was a but much.
But clearly, he made his choice about who he wanted.
Although it was hard for me to understand why I was not picked.
I’ve moved on and we are just friends now. ”
Even though her energy was nothing like the way it was in the club. There was something about the tone in her voice that did not sit well with me. It was composed but the was some condescending level underneath it. I knew if I turned up and acted ghetto all it would do was make me look insecure.
I just smiled and spoke, “There is no need to apologize but I still accept because you seem to have made yourself believe you’re being true.
You were just a tiny part of the problem.
Me and Halo had other things bigger than that to handle.
But it’s all fine now and I think you meant to say you and Halo were friends. As in past tense.”
Dallas’s lips poked out and she looked confused.
“Oh, I did not know that I lost him as such. I called him earlier today and he did not give off that impression.” She held her hands up.
“But he was busy so maybe he did not get around to letting me know that. Still, I don’t want any tension between you and me.
That’s what my goal was for coming over to you. ”
It took some restraint for me to keep my poker face and not show her that I was annoyed by what she said.
“No need for him to tell you. I’ll do it since I’m free right now.
Dallas.” I narrowed my eyes on her. “Dallas, you, and Halo’s friendship is over.
It is something that I am not comfortable with.
You’re a lovely girl and I’m sure making friends comes easy for you.
But that man will not be one of them.” I smiled big as me and Siren walked past them.
“I hate that bitch and if you ever need to run down on her. You better call me and I mean it.”
I laughed at Siren. Her face did not leave any room for a joke to be told. Dallas was trying to get a reaction out of me by telling me she talked to Halo. It almost worked but I don’t fuck her, I fuck him and he’s who I would check first before her.
All I knew was the only way Dallas would become a real issue between me and Halo. He’d have to think he could satisfy both sides by lying. If that is so, then he had another thing coming.

“You cool boo?” Halo asked me when he drove off from his apartment complex.
I came over last night after work and stayed the night. It only made sense because today I was meeting his auntie and uncle. She was cooking brunch and invited me, this time I was not missing it. I packed the outfit I bought from the mall with Siren.
