Healer witch Milo Pembrooke and his handsome Chimera mate, Grievance, have little warning when a new pest appears in Pumpkin Hollow just days before the annual Pumpkin Festival.

The pair volunteer to catch it before frightened townsfolk try to deal with the problem themselves.

What they find is not a true menace, but a mischievous baby dragon far more interested in smashing pumpkins than causing real harm.

Shop traffic swells, a potion goes unexpectedly wrong, and one tiny ice-breathing rascal refuses to stay out of trouble.
