Ch44 First Date
(Y/N POV - 3 days later - School - Modern Era)
Alright just need to speak with my teacher and hand off these assignments and I can get out of here.
It has been three days since we had returned into the modern era, and a late arrival into school that very same day as well.
Me and Kagome came to school the next day.
After an entire night dealing with a Kumogashira swarm and the trip back to Kaede's village by the time we arrived back at the Higurashi Shrine it would have been halfway through the school day.
That and we had to calm down Grandpa from nearly fainting after finding out we had to burn down a Buddhist temple.
Not helped by the fact that we were dealing Kumogashira or what happened with the Ne no Kubi.
Anyway it had been two days since we reentered school, and the gossip at school starting to grow crazy about us. Especially with the both of us disappearing shortly after my birthday and gone for a few days and returning at the same time.
While they were partially right, most of those rumors where blown out of preparation and quickly dwindled down. Yet both me and Kagome would prefer for those rumors not to be ignited once again.
We were already dealing with enough balancing life here and looking for the Shikon Jewel shards. So me and Kagome would prefer to enjoy what time we have together
I had been waiting for this date for a while...and honestly I am a bit nervous given this is our first date. But it should be alright with what we had planned.
Clearing my heads of those thought as I arrived to my teachers door and knocked on it.
"Come in." I heard my teacher said through the door before opening it to see him grading papers at his desk before looking up at me. "Yukinokouji right on time, I take it that you have brought everything then?"
"I brought everything from this week Kirin-sensei and half of the worksheets that you assigned for the upcoming week." I said, placing the assignments on his desk and getting Kirin-sensei to sigh. Although his smile betrayed his true feelings.
"Yukinokouji while I can not stop you from reading ahead especially while during your treatments, next time if you finish an assignment early turn it in as soon as you finished and not all at once." He said, getting me to nod.
"I will keep that in mind." I said with a smile.
Kirin-sensei was my favorite teacher this year, and perhaps in the last few years of school. And a lot of students shared a similar sentiment.
Despite only applying to our school last year when the previous English teacher retired, Osamu Kirin became a respected member of the faculty and by most of the students.
He was reasonable with both teaching and grading his students, willing to help his students if they were struggling and truly wishing to improve in class.
Although he didn't approve of students fighting, he heard both sides reason for it if it occurred on school grounds and punished accordingly.
He was so effective that had cut down on fighting in the school to near nothing.
That and Grandpa liked him as well, considering from what I have seen and heard Kirin-sensei was a devout Shintoist and has been praying at the Higurashi Shrine and a few other shrines located in our portion of Tokyo.
Guess that kind of helped with our cover of being sick while in the Sengoku Jidai since Kagome wasn't there at the shrine.
Although how Grandpa kept fooling him and the school is something I don't know. And probably something I do not want to know anyway.
"Good, anyway Yukinokouji how is Mr. Higurashi doing?" Kirin-sensei asked, getting me to nod.
"Grandpa is doing better, he has almost fully recovered but it will take another week or two until the storehouse is fully repaired." I said, getting Kirin-sensei to nod with a smile.
"That is good to hear, I will give him my regards the next time I visit the shrine. Any I wish you luck on your continued treatments Yukinokouji." Kirin-sense I said as he went back to grading his papers.
"Thank you Kirin-sensei, hopefully I will see you next week." I said, waving him goodbye before walking out of his office and down the hallway.
As I walked towards the entrance I was soon joined by Kagome.
"So I take it that you have turned everything in?" She asked, getting me to nod.
"That I have, so are you still going to walk home with your friends?" I asked back.
"I promised them as much, you were going to bring Shippō back to the shrine so that he could play with Sōta." She said, getting me to nod before getting Kagome to grin. "Besides I need some time to change out."
That's the first I'm hearing of this.
"I can't wait to see what you wear Kagome. Although I think that you would look good no matter what you wore" I said, saying the later part quietly to myself.
Although the way she smiled before hugging me showed I wasn't quiet enough.
"That's good to hear Y/N, although I don't feel like going to the movies in a school uniform." Kagome said before separating from me.
"Fair enough." I said before looking down at my school uniform. "Might as well make a quick stop home myself before getting Shippō."
"And I can wait to see it as well." Kagome said, before she looking down a hallway.
Following her gaze I saw that she was seeing her friend Ayumi waving at her.
"Looks like I have got to go, I'll see you later Y/N." Kagome said as she walked off towards her friend.
"I'll see you later." I called out to her before continuing my walk towards the entrance.
Honestly while I might still be a little nervous for our first date, I am excited as well. Just an ordinary date between me and Kagome. Considering we spend a majority of our time in the Sengoku Jidai lately, so it will be nice to enjoy sometime here in the present.
This time without worrying about being attacked by anything.
But first it would probably be for the best to change into something more casual.
(Kagome POV - Higurashi Shrine - An hour later)
Let's see...no this won't work out.
This shirt won't go well with this skirt I chose.
This one won't do either.
Already wore that one earlier this week.
Perfect!
Grabbing the shirt off my hanger I immediately put everything on and went to check how I looked in the bathroom mirror to see how I would look.
Only to jump slightly as I heard something slam against my window.
You have got to be kidding me. Looking out my window I saw that it was a temuri ball that Sōta caught before tossing it to Shippō. Looks like one of them just threw it too hard.
"Shippō, Sōta what have we said about being careful where you throw that temari around the house like that." I said to them while poking me head out the window.
"My bad." Shippo said before throwing the ball to Sōta.
"We will be more careful Sis." Sōta said as the two of them rang back towards the shrine.
I just shook me head at them with a small smile before closing my window back up.
The two of them just seem to become closer and closer to each other every single time they play with each other. It is nice to see Shippō bond with some his age...physically.
None of us know just how out Shippō is. Y/N said that kitsune age varies differently depending on parentage, power, and future potential.
With any tails they gain adding another century or two depending on such factors.
Meaning that Shippō could range from a year younger than us to being as old as Gramps in human years.
Something that I still have trouble thinking about.
Anyway, shaking my head clear of those thoughts I walked to the bathroom and double checked my look.
A medium length green skirt and a long sleeved dark red shirt with a violet collar and white seems. Perfect.
But now that I think about it mom does have a green jacket that could compliment this well. Still didn't she get it sometime in the 90's?
Maybe I should ask if I can borrow it on a colder day...or if Y/N continues to lose his humanity...
I shook my head to clear my thoughts about that.
Today is a day just for me and Y/N! I can save worrying about everything else and what we are going to do after my date!
I have waited a long time for this, so I am not going to any of those thoughts from enjoying myself!
Alright Y/N should be down by the shrine by now.
I walked out of the house to see Sōta and Shippō were continuing to playing with the temari ball with Gramps keeping and eye on them. Though he was startled when the ball nearly smacked him in the head by Shippō.
Holding back I laugh I saw Inuko sitting by the well house, scratching Buyo behind the ear as he purring contently. Honestly I never saw him like that unless he was eating something...
"Master are you certain that I can't come." I could hear Yura saying, getting me to sigh.
Honestly I should have figured she would at least try something besides what we agreed upon...and what I am still coming to terms with agreeing with her or not.
As I thought Y/N, Yura, and Mom were by the shrine's entrance.
From there I can see that Y/N was wearing a blue shirt with the area around the collar and shoulders that was several shades lighter.
I have got to say it contemplated his whitening hair alongside his scarf and necklace.
He still wore the same pants from school.
Yet he looked good, he looked good.
"I am certain Yura, besides I will let you know if anything happens. Besides are you really going to pass up the chance to collect hair freely with your usual limitations uninterrupted for several hours." Y/N said, getting Yura to pause before she could say something.
Before a grin spread across her face.
"Fair enough master." Yura said before she took off out of the shrine.
Amaterasu help those unlucky enough to cross her path. They were just going to join the ever growing rumors that surround her in the present. Heck I am pretty sure that in just a week or two she could become a full blown urban legend.
Clearing my head of the matter I approached Y/N as he sighed at Yura's actions. Before he looked looked a little surprised when he saw me.
Perfect.
"So I guess you were right about me looking good in anything." I said to Y/N with a smile as he looked to compose himself.
"Well it's the truth." He said with a smile, before the two of winced at a flash of light.
You have got to be kidding me.
"Mom did you really have to use the flash!" I said to my mom as she put her phone alway,
"I have no idea what you are talking about Kagome, now come on. The sooner the quicker we get to the car, the more alone time you get to have with Y/N." Mom said with a smile before she began to walk down the stairs. While the two of us briefly flushed from what she said.
Really Mom...
"Anyway, so where did you pick for our first date." I asked Y/N as we followed after my mom.
"I figured that we would just go to the movies, it has been awhile since we had gone. And I figured that you would like something a bit normal after everything that happened." He said.
It has been a few weeks since I have seen a movie in theaters, seems like forever ago since I was first dragged into the Sengoku Jidai. So the chance to relax with Y/N and do something a normal couple would do for a date was a fantastic idea.
"I would love to Y/N." I said with a smile. "So what movie are we going to watch than?"
"Honestly I kind of figured we could both pick something once we get to the theater." Y/N said, getting me to nod
"Then let's make sure that it is a long one than." I said with a grin as we both continued to walk down the stairs to the shrine's entrance.
Honestly it might have been more practical to have Mom to have parked the car back at the house. But this was the same path Mom and Dad took on the way to their first date. Although when they did it was in the autumn according to Mom. The scenery would must've looked amazing than.
Minus the different seasons and there was a massive gash in the surrounding foliage caused by the Nikuzuki no Men when it drove a fire truck through there. It was going to take months of landscaping to fix there according to Gramps...
Still I at least chose this part of the date...well I suppose I wanted to be a little more connected to Mom and Dad. That and something to make this perfect.
With a grin I latched my arm to his and pulled Y/N closer to me. He was surprised for a second, but quickly composed himself and smiled as he started to match my steps arm in arm.
Alright now it was perfect. It might only be for another minute or two, but I will take and enjoy any time I could get.
(Y/N POV - 35 minutes later)
Alright what to pick, what to pick.
The whole reason I chose this theater was it's wide selection of movies. They usually show a mix of movies from this year and the last few years. Sometimes showing movies from years earlier weekly. They always mix it up each week to keep costumers coming.
The only other theaters like it open to the public in Tokyo where in the Nerima Ward and Akihabara. The price for the one in Akihabara was even more than this one and I would prefer to not be in the Nerima ward if I could help it. Mainly for the greed sociopath who lives there.
Still this week they had quite interesting line up.
"Looks like they have a lot of tokusatsu movies here." Kagome said as we looked over the display.
She's right, there was a bunch of them to select from.
Kamen Rider Heisei vs Showa, Super Sentai x Kamen Rider x Metal Heroes, Space Sheriff Gavan the movie, and Ultraman Taiga: New Generation Climax.
While I might enjoy some tokusatsu, Kagome isn't that much of a fan. So any of them weren't an option.
"I haven't even heard of some of these Bubble Fiction: Boom or Burst and Drive my Car? Have you Y/N?" Kagome asked, getting me to nod.
"The first one is a time travel comedy about preventing the end of the bubble economy while the second is a drama based on a short story by Haruki Marukami.
I believe that one came out when we were first stuck in the Sengoku Jidai.
" I said with a small smile. "I heard a lot of good things about that one. "
Kind of expected given that author of the story the movie is based upon. Marukami was a genius when it comes to storytelling.
"Really, I take it that want to see that one?" Kagome asked me.
"I do, but I think we have enough drama in our lives for now." I said with a smile, getting her to shake her head.
"I suppose you have a point there." Kagome said as we went back to looking at the suggestions.
Let's see what else was here...
A Writer's Odyssey, I think that was from the mainland. Might look into it later.
Shinobi no Kubi, I liked the original novel and the manga. Yet given when I think we are exactly in the Sengoku Jidai, that is a little bit too close to home for use. So possibly a maybe.
Didn't expect a movie from the United States here, Snake Eyes G.I. Joe Origins. I think that might have been dubbed recently. So a pass on that.
The rest of the selection were anime movies.
But I doubted Kagome would want to watch Nanatsu no Taizai or Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Okay the later was a maybe, partially due to the art style.
No wonder it got to be so popular in the West besides it's story telling.
Maybe I should tell Inuko about the manga.
There was also Wolf Children, we both went to the theaters when that came out. So that was also a maybe. Possibly one that could also interest Inuko...not sure how she would react though. So that was a no then.
Mononoke-hime and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi from Studio Ghibli, both are classics and the later has seen a general resurgence due to being rereleased in the mainland recently. Heck I hear that it will relieve a screen to stage adaption.
Speaking of Ghibli...
"Hey Y/N doesn't Gramps still have those film reels of several Ghibli movies? Don't you think we should set them up for Shippō to see?" Kagome asked, voicing what I was about to say.
"He does, thankfully none were damaged in the storehouse fire.
Though I think the only one's he would like are Castle in the Sky, Tonari no Totoro, and Majo no Takkyubin.
I doubt he would be interested in Omoide Poro Poro.
Although I think it will be another week or two until the projector is repaired.
" I said to Kagome, getting her to nod.
In the early 90's Grandpa had received about 15 reels of film from a friend who used to own a theater, all of them were of movies that premiered during the time of bubble economy before it popped in 1992.
They collected dust as the theater closed and in the shrine's store house before Grandpa found them again when Kagome was about two or three from what he said.
From there he had the idea to get a projector and set up a makeshift theater on the shrine during the summer festival that year.
Turned out it was a big hit and Grandpa had been running the theater during the week of the summer festival when weather permitting, never playing the same film twice in a row.
Those were some good summers, and well the festival might be far off from now. It would be fun to at least set something up for Shippō for both him and Sōta to experience.
"Then I suppose we have an idea for him then, now if only we can pick a movie for us now." Kagome said with a grin, getting me to chuckle a bit as we looked over the options.
Although the only other option left was...
"They are playing Summer Wars here?" Kagome said, her eyes seem to be sparkling a little.
"It would seem so, I take it that you like that movie?" I asked her.
"Ayumi introduced me to it, although my favorite part of the movie might be the entire Jinnouichi Family in general. " Kagome said with a smile.
"Wouldn't really know, never watched it before." I said, before I felt Kagome grabbing my wrist. Getting me to shake my head with a smile. "It seems like we have made our decision then."
"I think that you would like it, besides the next showing for it is in 20 minutes. Plenty of time to find good seats in the theater." Kagome said, half dragging me to the ticket counter before matching my pace with hers.
"Alright then, let's go." I said as we walked to the ticket counter.
From there I paid in full for both of our tickets, although Kagome said that I didn't have to. I was the one who picked this theater, but we decided to just split the cost of popcorn and drinks.
While I was getting my drink, an idea came to me. Before Kagome could fill her own cup I let the barest wisps of mist to trail from my fingers for a moment.
And a small shake of my cup confirmed my suspicions.
"Did you just make your own ice?" Kagome said, getting me to nod.
"Just needed a lid and room for condensation. Never tried so before. Would you like some?" I offered, getting Kagome to nod as she quickly filled her drink.
"Yes please." Kagome said with a smile as she handed me her drink. "I think that would help you a little on a hot day."
"You might be right." I said before handing Kagome her now iced drink and hefted the popcorn bucket with one arm. "They said that Summer Wars was in theater 8 correct."
"That is right, now come on!" Kagome said eagerly as she started to walk towards the theater, while I just chuckled at her enthusiasm.
Still it was pretty nice just to do this. Just the two of us, no worrying about the Sengoku Jidai and no worrying about the Shikon Jewel shards and what trouble they could bring. Just me and Kagome enjoying each other's company and doing something we like or trying something new together.
And the both of us loving every minute of it together.

Hey guys Mukuro7 here and I hoped that you all enjoyed this chapter and my attempts to make a good first date. Honestly I do not have that much of a track record for romance, but I think I gave it a pretty good shot.
Sorry I couldn't upload this chapter last year in December, just got too busy and just needed a break.
Anyway a few things to clarify before we end this chapter and start the next arc.
First off thank you all for the support. Seriously I can not do this without you guys and look how far this story has become thanks to everyone.
Secondly I would like to thank VinciusRomeroMoura, Skyryder, ReCode097, LegoBuilderBB, YodaTheWise, arcaneultima, and Koga939 for their suggestions for movies for this chapter.
Honestly it made things a whole lot easier to complete this chapter and make a decision.
Couldn't have done it without your support.
Thirdly but none of you to expect to see Osamu Kirin in this chapter did you, he has quickly gained prominence in Yashahime and I can not wait to see where this goes.
Finally onto the matter of the final harem update poll. As of this chapter we will be closing the poll and the top five will be picked. Now onto the results.
Janis: 5
Izanami: 17
Sara Asano: 11
Kaguya: 11
Female Magastuchi: 4
Kyūki: 6
Zero: 7
And these are the final votes and I said I would be taking the top 5 for the extension and it seemed one of the results is a tie...I'll take it.
Meaning the final harem extension will have everyone but the Female Magastuchi option, so thank you all for voting. Seriously didn't expect for nearly everyone to pick Izanami for an option though. 17 votes, 17 votes...
If someone can please find me a good picture of representing Izanami in anime that would be great thank you.
I'll post the harem extension tomorrow, so I hope you all will enjoy that.
Anyway next chapter will begin the Kikiyō Resurrection arc.
Next chapter will just be a prelude and an update on Nazuna, but for this arc will shake things up for both Inuko and Y/N.
The next chapter should be up by either next month or spring as I have a bit of a backlog to clear up, but I hope you all will enjoy it.
Anyway that is all for now.
So until next time, ciao!
