Chapter 25 Peace Graham

. . .
My body ached as I turned over, but I had never felt better.
Last night with Dreaux wasn’t planned, but there were no regrets on my end.
I checked my phone and noticed a bunch of notifications.
I hadn’t posted anything recently, which made me wonder what was going on.
I got my answer the moment I clicked the first link Janae posed in the group chat.
I almost had to laugh because I seemed to have bad luck with the men I chose to allow in my life.
The link leads me to a post from a girl named LavishBarbie. The post was a photo of Kavello asleep with a newborn baby lying on his chest. He was sleeping, so I was sure he wasn’t aware his photo had been taken. The caption read, “Kavello and KJ. We’re so obsessed with our little boy.”
I would be lying if I said my feelings weren’t hurt.
After my birthday, he became distant, but he assured me that his schedule was the reason for his absence.
Kavello never gave me a reason not to believe him, but I guess I should have pressed a little harder.
Instead of going off on him, I simply sent him the photo and congratulated him on his new addition and then blocked him.
At the end of the day, I was in my baby daddy’s bed, dressed in one of his t-shirts after he fucked me through the mattress.
There was no use in crying over spilled milk.
The smell of breakfast wafted through the air, so I decided to see what Dreaux was up to. Plus, I was certain my little diva was somewhere watching her favorite shows. I threw on a pair of Dreaux’s shorts and made my way down the stairs.
As soon as I stepped into the kitchen, I couldn’t contain the smile on my face as I watched Promise stirring a bowl of pancake mix as Dreaux guided her. Her little tongue hung out as she tried her best to move the whisk as fast as she could.
“Good morning,” I greeted, taking a seat at one of the stools at the island.
“Good morning, sleepy head.”
“Good moaning, momma!” Promise squealed.
“She definitely did a lot of that,” Dreaux mumbled under his breath. His eyes lingered on me for a moment before they focused on Promise. My pussy throbbed in response as my body shuddered from the flashbacks of last night.
“Alright, are you ready to pour?”
“Yes, daddy! I ready!”
I watched him turn on the griddle as the two of them made pancakes together. Dreaux showed her how to flip them, and she giggled every time she tried to turn them over. Her laughter made me smile because she was so full of innocence and joy.
“Do you need me to do anything? I kind of feel bad sitting here and watching.” I voiced.
“Naw, we’ve got it. All you need to do is sit there and look pretty. Let the real cooks handle it. Ain’t that right, pretty?” He asked Promise, kissing the top of her head. Dominique braided her hair, and she looked so cute with her beads on the end.
“Yes!”
I responded to a few messages on my phone, then put it down.
Old-school R I don’t even think twice about it. I don’t know whether to take it as a sign or be afraid. I don’t have the best track record when it comes to picking men.” I snickered, reflecting on the news about Kavello.
The announcement made it onto all of the tea pages and blogs. Everyone wanted to know who the mystery woman was and how long they had been together. What shocked me the most was that I wasn’t interested in finding any of the answers. The only man I couldn’t get off my mind was the one I was with.
“It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. There are a lot of things I haven’t told you, but none of them really matter now. The only thing I’m concerned about is you and our daughter.”
“What does that mean?” I probed, seeking clarity.
“It means, you might want to tell that nigga I’m taking my family back. I would hate to end his career early when I was only allowing him to borrow you,” Dreaux declared, with a sly grin on his face.
“You’re a fool. I don’t think you’ll have anything to worry about. I’m okay with that, but I’m not sure how your daughter will feel about having to share you with me.”
“Yeah, I’m gonna have to sit down and have a talk with her about it. I don’t want her to think you’re taking her place. Nobody comes before my baby girl.”
I scoffed, attempting to pull my hand away from his. His strong ass wasn’t having it, though, and tightened his grip on my hand.
“How are you gonna be jealous of my princess? You’re the reason she’s here in the first place.” He chuckled, then leaned down to kiss me. My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard, but I never felt so content in my life.
“Yeah, whatever. Wait until we have a son. I need you to keep the same energy.”
“You gon’ give me a son, lil’ mama?”
“I might. I’ve always wanted to have at least two to three kids.”
He nodded his head, but the smile on his face couldn’t be missed. Dreaux was my person, and nothing could convince me otherwise. It took us a moment to get it right, but I had a good feeling about the future.
