Chapter 31
Ican’t believe the turn of events.
That drunk woman in her skinny high heels slipped and fell into the pool. Her fruity drink went flying and crashed against the concrete.
Who wore shoes like that by the pool? Good thing that one did. She hit her head on the way into the deep end. Blood filled the pool quickly, turning the water a scary purple. Women screamed. A few men jumped into action, leaping in with all their clothes on, trying to pull her out. Waste of time.
When Storm’s big bad bodyguard boyfriend barreled through the crowd, I knew it was time to act. I had seconds. He had jumped in and pushed the others aside. I guess all that training kicked in, and he couldn’t help himself. The water hero. The other big guy jumped in too and helped the ever-faithful bodyguard haul the dead woman out of the water. Their movements were so in sync, it was almost like water ballet.
Storm was so caught up in the hubbub, she didn’t notice me.
And no one noticed her.
Lucky break.
