Songs: “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” by Georgia Satellites, “Be Your Man” by Jackson Dean, and “Intoxicated” by Warren Zeiders

After Luke paid our admission fee to Midnight Rodeo, he smiled at me, reached for my hand, and the two of us headed to the bar. I was so excited to be on our official first date. Being with Luke felt magical, as if the sky were the limit for us.

Once the bartender had set us up with our glasses of Buffalo Trace, Luke and I continued sitting at the bar, taking sips and talking. Our lips were having a conversation, but our eyes were having another. We wanted each other sexually.

Still looking at Luke, my attention was drawn to the flat mole beside his left eye that I’d noticed before but hadn’t said anything about. I had to now. “Is that your birthmark?” I asked, lightly touching it.

“Yep.”

“It’s unique since it’s heart-shaped.”

“My mom says it’s where an angel kissed me after she got pregnant with me.”

“I love that! Does Hayden have a birthmark anywhere?”

“Not that I know of.”

“You’re the special one.”

He smiled, his dimples so damn cute. “Do you have a birthmark?”

“I do. It’s a light brown spot about two inches long on the underside of my right bicep. My sister has teased me about it, saying that I was a witch in a past lifetime and that the mark came from my being tied to a stake before being burned.”

“You never know,” Luke chuckled.

“Do you believe we’ve lived other lifetimes?”

“I’ve never given it much thought. Have you?”

“Not really.”

“Ready to go have some fun on the dance floor with me?”

“I’m already having a ball right here.”

“Then up the ante with me, beautiful goddess.”

“Goddess?”

“Yep. Have you never heard that a redheaded woman with green eyes is considered a true goddess?”

“Not until now.”

“It’s an ancient Celtic belief.”

“How do you know that, country boy?”

“I read a lot,” he said, grinning.

“Is that so?”

“It is. Dance with me, Madison.”

“Lead the way.

The moment we reached the dance floor, Georgia Satellites’ “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” began playing.

Luke and I didn’t keep our hands to ourselves, though.

His fingers were laced through mine as he walked backward, pulling me toward him, his dimples deepening in his cheeks from smiling so big.

Then he started moving his shoulders and singing the lyrics, “My honey, my baby, don’t put my love upon no shelf.

She said, ‘Don’t hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself. ”

As I laughed, Luke started leading us across the sawdust-covered floor, our bodies in perfect sync.

Seconds later, I gave him a teasing taste of my womanly attitude according to the song’s current lyrics: “That’s when she told me a story ‘bout free milk and a cow and said, ‘No huggee, no kissee until I get a wedding vow.” I flicked my ring finger at Luke, making him grin and cock an eyebrow as if asking me if a wedding vow from him would be what it would take for me to be with him all the way.

I shook my head, loving our playfulness.

The song continued as Luke kept dancing with me.

I couldn’t remember his smooth moves to this degree from the last time, but I was taking notice of them now.

After spinning me twice, he pulled me back toward him, guiding me to go around him from behind.

I ran my hand across his waist and back, Luke grabbing it again and spinning me twice more.

We were both facing forward now, taking like steps as I leaned against my sexy dance partner still guiding me.

Then we faced each other, no longer touching, with about a yard between us, still dancing to the upbeat, fun song.

Luke reached up and grasped the brim of his hat, started shimmying his shoulders and snapping his fingers, looking me up and down.

I shimmied my shoulders back at him and went toward him.

He stopped dancing and said, “Come on, now, Madison!” motioning for me to dance around him.

As I did, I ran my hand across his muscled chest and broad shoulders.

In front of him again, with my back to him and his hands holding mine, I swayed my hips seductively, going down to the floor and back up.

Moving across the floor with Luke once more, he spun me here and there, the two of us laughing and having a blast.

When the song ended, I hugged Luke’s neck as he hugged my waist tight, our bodies pressed together. Then another song came on. Luke pulled his head back and looked at me.

“Keep dancing with me,” he said.

“Okay.”

I had never heard the song before, but between the lyrics—“Take me places I don’t know.

Take me deeper than your soul. Take me under, take me on.

Take me ‘til all of me’s gone. Take me now just as I am ‘cause all I wanna do is be your man,”—and the flicker of desire in Luke’s hazel eyes for me, my heart was beating fast. I was also aching between my thighs to be touched.

The next song that came on, I knew: “Intoxicated” by Warren Zeiders.

It was even slower than the previous and sultry as hell, arousing me even more as I listened to it, gazed up at Luke, and felt his strong arms around me as we swayed back and forth.

Then he sang the lyrics, “Little thief in the night, got me so gone. So paralyzed, hypnotized by your eyes, can’t come down from this high that I’m on.

Intoxicated, out of my mind. Strung out and naked, your body on mine.

Sweet sin sedated, in your control. I can still taste it.

You got me so intoxicated,” to me, keeping his eyes steady on mine and sounding so damn good.

“Kiss me, Luke,” I said, running my fingers through the back of his hair.

Still swaying together, he leaned his head down and brushed his warm lips across mine, covering me in goosebumps. We parted our lips at the same time, our tongues entangling and our breathing growing faster and faster. Our kiss ended when the song did, both of us searching each other’s eyes.

“What are you thinking?” Luke asked.

“I want us to get out of here.”

“And go where?”

“To your cabin.”

“And do what?”

“You know what.”

He swallowed hard. “Are you sure about that, Madison?”

“Yep.”
