Song: “Sunset in Your Eyes” by Auspris Country Music
As my parents headed back to the ranch house, I looked over my shoulder at Luke.
The sun’s light was dancing across his face, making his hazel eyes sparkle even more.
I didn’t have to say a word. He knew what I needed, leaned in, and kissed me.
After he pulled his lips away from mine, he asked me if I’d eaten lunch.
“Nope, I wasn’t hungry,” I said.
“Are you now?”
“Getting there.”
“Alright, I’m taking you for a ride that way then,” he said, pointing west.
“Out of the corral?”
“Yep.”
“How far?”
“You’ll see.”
He got off Casper, opened the gate, and led him through it. Once Luke had secured the gate again, he hopped back up onto his buddy like it was nothing and began riding us toward the horizon with his arm secure around my waist again.
As we made our way across his ancestors’ land, I imagined what it was like for them to live on it and work it a hundred years ago.
It couldn’t have been easy in comparison to today’s advancements.
They still did it, though, no doubt, out of their love for this land and what it provided them and also what it stood for.
It was theirs and no one else’s. I would’ve been so proud.
I knew Luke once was. My heart broke all over again, thinking about him and Hayden having to sell the ranch.
Luke and I were approaching some mesquite trees when I spotted something lying on the ground beneath them, but I couldn’t make out what it was. When we reached the trees, I realized it was a blanket with an Igloo cooler sitting on it. I looked at Luke.
“Did you put that there?” I asked.
He grinned. “Yep.”
“Are we having a picnic?”
“We are.”
“You are such a stinker!”
“I enjoy surprising you.”
“Well, you did.”
Luke got off Casper, tied his reins to one of the trees, and helped me get down by holding me under my arms as I held onto his broad shoulders. Standing in front of him, I shook my head.
“What is it?” he asked, his eyes happy like mine.
“It’s just you.”
“Come on.”
We went over to the blanket and sat down. Luke began unpacking Tupperware containers from the cooler as I watched.
“We have Eckrich sausage to eat, plus cubed cheddar cheese, deviled eggs, strawberries and grapes, brownies for dessert, and sweet iced tea to drink,” he said.
“When did you have time to do all of this?”
“After you left my cabin this morning. It was early, so I had plenty of time to throw this together and bring it out here.”
I looked at the spread of food, then back at Luke. “You keep blowing me away with the thoughtful things you do.”
He took off his hat and set it down beside him, running his fingers through the top of his hair. “You bring it out of me, Madison. I want our time together to be as special as it can be.”
“What you’ve done here is very special to me. The last picnic I went on was with my parents and sister when she and I were little girls.”
“You won’t ever have to wait that long again to go on one. You can plan on us doing this again soon.”
I took off my hat and stretched out my legs in front of me, continuing to watch Luke as he fixed a plate of food and handed it to me along with a cold bottle of tea.
“Thank you,” I said.
“It’s my pleasure.”
I waited for him to fix his plate. Once he had, we began eating, enjoying each other, and this sunny May day.
“Tell me what you like about city-living,” Luke said, taking a bite of a deviled egg. They were delicious.
“The main thing is the shopping conveniences. Everything is close by.”
“What do you dislike about city-living?”
“The noise. There’s so much traffic in Dallas, too many people. The older I get, the less I enjoy living there. Could you ever live in a big city?”
“Nope. I’d end up choking some city slicker who thinks his shit doesn’t stink.”
I chuckled, nodding. “I understand. There are plenty of snooty women like that, too.”
“Even though you were raised in Dallas, there’s nothing snooty about you.”
“It’s because of how I was raised. My mom and dad kept my feet and Meredith’s planted firmly on the ground. They kept us humble.”
“How?”
“For starters, we helped at food drives with my parents. We also served meals to the homeless in shelters through our church. It made me realize how blessed I am. I’ve never worried about where I would get my next meal or having a roof over my head. I can’t imagine going through that.”
“Whenever you’re home in Dallas, do you still go to church?”
“Not anymore. Sometimes, I feel guilty for not taking Bella, but the church I grew up attending is so far from what it used to be. Several pastors have come and gone. There’ve been scandals.
One pastor was caught having an affair with the church secretary, while another was in the closet with his homosexuality until he was caught being way too friendly with a teenage boy in the youth group.
The boy’s father threatened to kill the pastor.
Needless to say, the Methodist conference got rid of him fast, but the damage was done to the congregation. ”
‘I’ll bet it was.”
“What about you? Did you go to church while you were growing up? Do you still?”
“Yep, I go right out here,” Luke said, waving his arm all around us.
I smiled. “I can’t get over how much more spiritual I’ve felt since being at the ranch. It’s like I’m sitting in a church pew in this very spot.”
Luke nodded, his adorable dimples flirting with me.
After we finished eating, I helped him pack all the leftovers into the Tupperware and put them back in the cooler.
Then Luke stretched out on his back on the blanket, resting his head in his hands, and looking up at the sky. I couldn’t stop looking at him.
He cut his eyes at me. “Come here.”
I scooted toward him. “I’m here.”
“But you’re not on me.”
“On you, how?”
“Riding me.”
“Get those blue jeans off, and I will be.”
“Get yours off, too. Race you.”
We hurried to beat each other, getting our lower halves naked, and finished at the same time.
“Nope, I need you to be totally naked,” Luke said, looking me up and down.
“I need you also to be.”
As soon as we finished taking our clothes off, Luke lay down on his back again, and I straddled him. After he angled his hard dick at my pussy’s entrance, I lowered myself, taking all of his inches into me once again, making him groan while I sighed.
“Giddy up,” I said, grinning down at him.
He started pumping his hips while holding onto mine.
I moved with him, going back and forth, watching the fire flicker in his eyes and the flex of his abs as he thrust himself into me.
I was still sore from the sex we had last night, but the longer I rode Luke, the less discomfort I felt until it disappeared.
“Give me your hands,” he breathed, reaching for them, lacing his long fingers through mine.
“You feel so good.”
“So do you. Are you going to cum for me again?”
“Getting there. How about you?”
“I could now, but I’m waiting for you.”
“Then fuck me faster.”
He did, still holding my hands between us as I kept moving my body in rhythm with his.
“I feel you tightening up,” he said, gazing up at me.
I couldn’t speak, only nod.
“Let go, baby. I love watching and hearing you.”
A few seconds later, I began falling from the edge, losing control.
I closed my eyes, tightened my fingers around Luke’s, and rode him faster and faster, moaning his name as I came.
He was right behind me, groaning deep within himself and filling my pussy with his semen again.
Afterward, I looked down at him. His eyes were hooded with a post-orgasm haze like I knew mine were.
“We’re so damn good together,” my handsome cowboy said.
“I know.”
“I can’t get enough of you, Madison. I’m addicted to you.”
I bit down on my bottom lip, smiling.
“What are you thinking?”
“About staying in Amarillo until I don’t know when.”
Luke froze, the expression on his face turning serious as he searched my eyes. Then he pulled me down to him by my hands and crashed his lips against mine.
