Igroaned, unhooking my limbs from Hades. Staying in bed and fucking her again until the sun rose would be divine, but I already knew Cinder was going to have a goddamn coronary if I didn’t get back soon. If it wasn’t for my cell phone being on airplane mode, she’d know my location and start a war.
The bright light from my phone blinded me as I looked. Sleep evaded me ‘cause I only slept for an hour after a glorious night. I peeled myself away from Hades, already missing her touch. This would be a night I’d never forget, because good lord, this woman was sent to me specifically.
Slipping into my leather pants and halter top, I scribbled a note and left it for her.
I was scared last night wouldn’t be good for either of us, but Hades took her time with my body.
One day, I’d come back for another night, so I wanted her to be ready and not shoot me.
I also needed to make sure my body wasn’t in survival mode and confusing comfort with connection.
It might’ve been the best night of my life, but I also knew how my brain worked.
Sex was easy. Quick, rough, and simple. Feelings and relationships? Not so much. This was one night; so why was my chest feeling odd? I’d had sex with strangers before, but none of them made me feel like Hades did—and it wasn’t just because of the orgasms she gave me. She made me feel grounded.
Absolutely not. My brain didn’t understand the difference between safe and temporary. This was one of the many problems I had. I was not falling for a hookup, but damn did it feel good to forget for a moment and be seen.
I gathered my shit and pocketed my phone before walking out to my bike. My Ducati was gorgeous in the midnight glow, and no one had touched her while I was getting railed into the next century. I pulled my helmet on and glanced around the street to see a blacked-out black Jeep Wrangler facing me.
Cinder wouldn’t have someone follow me, would she?
She said she trusted me, but I knew for a fact someone wouldn’t be randomly staking out as I fucked Hades.
Unless they were creeps. Crestview had a handful of those.
I didn’t think a Viper had a Jeep. Vesper had her Escalade, and we had a spare Suburban we used if we had group grocery shopping to do.
Did she send Melisa to see what I was doing?
Did Melisa have a Jeep? She would totally rat me out to my sister.
I revved my bike and stormed out of the driveway.
The Jeep followed behind me, confirming my suspicions.
Cinder had someone watching me. She didn’t trust me enough to let me do things on my own.
I turned sharply, my body leaning low as I hit the gas.
Any other day, this would give me a rush of adrenaline I didn’t know I needed, but tonight, I was pissed.
I took sharp turns, dancing in the road with Pink Betty moving gracefully like a bird.
The person behind the wheel acted as if they were driving a race car and not an all-terrain vehicle.
The Jeep revved and gunned for me. Did someone here know who I was?
Did I actually sleep with the enemy, and now someone wanted me dead?
The Jeep got dangerously close, the mirror hitting me and causing me to lose control.
Normally, I could handle it and get my control back, but Pink Betty tilted a little too far right before I could balance my body as I skidded across the asphalt.
Fuck me, that would leave a bruise. My bike better be okay, or I would kill this asshole—unless he ran me over with his car, that is.
Running me off the road seemed to be enough for him, because the Jeep vanished into the night.
Okay, maybe that wasn’t Melisa stalking my hookup.
I lay in the ditch for a moment, trying to catch my breath.
This was one hell of a Friday night, cause what the fuck was that?
I kicked myself up, thankful for armored leggings.
My leather jacket was already old, and the road rash on my back and shoulder blade stung like a bitch.
The Vipers always preached to me about proper biking attire, and while I kept my legs protected, I hated things on my arms. I couldn’t explain the feeling fully, but it made my skin crawl.
I sucked it up and wore my leather jacket, but when I was off the road, I took it off immediately.
If I went home like this, they would have a field day…
but I knew one Viper who wouldn’t ask questions.
The Vexxed Vipers were a woman and nonbinary-only motorcycle club who saved women and dealt in drugs, to an extent.
Cinder mainly catered to marijuana and rarely ecstasy, save for the rave season, if the opportunity arose and she received a shipment.
My sister was finicky when it came to certain drugs because of me.
I loved her, but goddamn, I would not break nor shatter because she sold cocaine.
As for the vigilante hustle, it was like hot women coming to save the day.
Fuck, if that wasn’t my fantasy growing up.
I pulled my phone out and hit Vesper’s contact. This would also give me an excuse to have her all to myself for a moment after she bitched at me, but honestly, I liked when she yelled. It was hot.
