89. Hades
Eighty-Nine
Hades
Rory sent me a story of her night with Vesper, and a quiet ache bloomed in my chest. Not only because Vesper had my girl, but also because of what Vesper was into.
Now I wasn’t one who enjoyed the Daddy kink, but Vesper seemed like my type of woman with her various interests in certain kinks.
I had a feeling we would be able to drive Rory mad if we had her together.
It was a slow day at the clinic, so I decided to FaceTime Rory, and she answered immediately. “Hi baby,” she beamed.
“Hi, gorgeous. What are you doing?”
“I’m at my shop. Ariel will be coming in tomorrow for a long tattoo, so I am doing little ones today.”
I arched my brow. “Did you answer the phone with a client?”
“No. I’m eating right now. My next appointment is in fifteen minutes.”
I grinned. I had a surprise for her, but I didn’t know how she would enjoy being teased before she had to tattoo.
Propping my phone up, I removed my jacket.
My office door was locked, and I had a monitor for the front door if I had any walk-ins.
I looked at Rory as I slowly unbuttoned my shirt and laughed as I saw her squirm.
My girl didn’t enjoy being teased, even if it was a virtual strip tease.
I unbuttoned my terracotta slacks, pulling them down my hips until they pooled on the ground.
Rory was practically drooling, watching me strip for her.
I turned so she could see my ass, but what I wanted her to see most was my thong.
It was a custom order where the band of the panty had Rory's name on them, and in pink. Glancing over my shoulder, I laughed.
“Hades, Jesus good goddamn, baby.”
“I’d thought you’d like them. I have three pairs. One in pink, black, and red.”
“Oh, I am in loveeee,” she sang. “Now I feel like I have to tattoo your name on my tits or something.”
“Or you could just do a daisy and a sunflower. I think it will be enough. You already have my initial.”
She smiled, looking over her shoulder. “Bet. I gotta go, baby. I’ll talk to you tonight.”
“Bye.”
I got dressed like nothing happened. This was one reason I enjoyed having my own clinic with maybe two other people who worked here.
It was a slow day, so I sent my nurse and secretary home.
My clinic catered to the lower-income families in Crestview who didn’t have insurance or were too scared to go to the hospital.
Sometimes it could get hectic and I would call in reinforcements, but normally we could handle it.
I stepped into the foyer of my clinic and checked my roster.
I had no more appointments for the day. There were no last-minute call-ins, or by the looks of it, walk-ins so I might call it and close early.
My number was on the front and my house wasn’t far from here if I needed to come in for an unexpected emergency.
As I stepped out, a car pulled up and Martha Price stumbled out of her car with her youngest daughter in her arms and tears streaming down her face. I dropped my bag and rushed to her side. “What happened?”
“She had an asthma attack and the inhaler wasn’t working!” she sobbed. “She passed out and I didn’t know what else to do. I would have called, but my phone was dead.”
“Breathe for me. Let’s get her inside.”
She walked with her daughter to the door and I unlocked it, grabbing my bag and taking her to an exam room.
I did my normal exam on Morgan. It wasn’t my first time helping Martha or her children.
Martha was a sweet woman, stuck in Crestview until she could leave.
Her husband worked for Luke, but he’d accused him of stealing and shot him in the head.
Martha did her best to avoid everyone; she was terrified Luke would take her children.
I gave Morgan a breathing treatment and Martha brushed her hair back. “How close are you to getting away from Crestview?”
“I have four thousand saved up,” she said, kissing Morgan’s forehead. “I just…it’s hard. Without Jason I feel like everything is falling apart.”
I excused myself for a moment, walking into my office and opening my safe, pulling out another six thousand dollars.
Martha needed to get out of Crestview, I knew it was only a matter of time before Luke would hurt her and her children.
I quickly returned to the treatment room and handed Martha the money.
She looked at me with teary eyes as her bottom lip trembled.
“I want you to get out of here. Ten thousand should be enough to help you get on your feet, and if you need more, call me and I’ll make sure you are settled.”
She burst into tears. “I-I can go home now. My mom is in Washington state. I can drive the girls there and we can start over.”
“Go. I want to make sure you are safe, so I’ll go with you to your house and watch as you drive. I know it will make the trip longer, but drive through Briarwood and go around Crestview. Let me know when you make it.”
“I can’t thank you enough, Haven. You are changing our lives.”
“This town destroyed it, so the least I can do is give you a chance to leave.”
I went with Martha to her place and helped her pack a few necessary items. With the money I gave her, she could hopefully start fresh and buy some new clothes for the girls and herself.
She was a nice woman stuck in a terrible situation, all because of this town.
If it was within my power, I would do any and everything to help the women in this town burned by bastards like Luke.
Half of that five grand actually came from Luke.
I stole it from my father and put it in the safe for this exact purpose.
If he was going to do shitty things in my town, I would make sure that someone benefited from the money. Martha could escape now.
When her car was packed with as much stuff as we could fit in, I followed them to the edge of town where Crestview met Briarwood and watched as she drove off.
She would be safe now, and her little girls could have a life where they weren’t in constant danger.
My father would be meeting with Luke soon and he would be kicking him out of Crestview.
I didn’t want Martha to be caught in the crossfire because of it.
When she was on the road, my phone rang. “What is it, Zade?”
“You need to get here, now.”
