Chapter 28

"My head is spinning."

"Amelia, you only drank three cocktails," Danylo laughs and puts his hand on my back.

And although it should not have changed anything, but now I feel that I will definitely not fall. Danylo will definitely catch me.

"Did you enjoy the evening?"

"Oh, yes, really, especially the moment when KJ decided to stand on the bar and dance," I laugh.

"You haven't seen him sing in karaoke yet," Danylo squirms with laughter.

Danylo helps me get into the car and fastens the seat belt. His warm hands touch places on my body that are not covered by clothes, and I suck in as much air as possible.

"Thank you for this evening," I say quietly.

"Thank you, Amelia," he smiles back.

We are silent for a moment, but it does not seem like an awkward moment to us. I just enjoy the silence.

"Could you change your whole life for one person?" "Yes," I answer without thinking.

"For Denys?"

"Yes again. And you?"

"I think so," Danylo says quietly.

"For Zlata?"

"Not sure."

"What is happening between you two?"

"I don't know, Amelia. Her parents needed this wedding and my father too, of course. As soon as they found out about the pregnancy, there was no way to go back."

"And Zlata? How is she feeling?"

"She wanted it, especially since our parents are good business partners."

"So your marriage is just another contract you signed?"

"I love Zlata, but I'm not sure that it's the same as before."

I am silent. I don't want to involve myself in this. I don't want to be that girl who ruined someone's marriage.

Danylo notices that I have no intention of talking further and says:

"I'm sorry, Ami, there was no need to involve you in this."

I turn to him. It hurts me to see him like this. It's like he's completely and utterly destroyed from the inside, despite how perfect he looks on the outside.

"No, you have nothing to apologise for. I just don't know how I can help."

Danylo nods.

"Tomorrow is a day off, do you have plans to spend the day?"

"I wanted to go to Sebastian and do my homework." "Wonderful plans," Danylo smiles.

"What about you?"

"Zlata is going to a friend out of town for a few days, so I haven't decided yet."

"Again?" I ask in surprise.

"And so what?"

"I think you two need to talk."

"I trust her," Danylo says calmly, "she is pregnant, she has hormones and if she wants to have a little rest with her friends, then there are no problems with that." I nod.

"Sebastian and I wanted to go to the cinema tomorrow, you can join us," I suggest.

I don't want to imagine how Danylo spends his day off alone in the apartment.

"I don't want to bother you."

"Bother?" I laugh. "We’d only be glad to have your company, besides, you and Sebastian are also quite close." "Yes, I like your brother, he never shuts up." "Yeah, never," I agree.

"When are you going to see him? I can pick you up."

"No need, I plan to be at his place at ten o'clock."

I know how hard Danylo works and how much he needs sleep, so let him sleep better than driving me around the city.

"Got it."

Danylo drives me to the dorm and even walks me to my room. He says that it’s dangerous for a girl to walk alone in such places at night.

Well, yes, this is not a dormitory, but an asylum for psychopaths, the most dangerous place in Kyiv.

"Thank you for everything, I had a good time." "Thank you, too," Danylo smiles.

We don't hug, although I won't lie, I don't mind his hugs.

I close the door behind me and fall into a deep sleep, having previously set the alarm for nine o'clock.

***

I won't say that I woke up right away. To be honest, I changed the alarm three times. Not a good idea to wake up so early after the club.

I get out of bed, looking at the wall for a moment. My brain hasn't exactly turned on yet. I know I'm a terrible anti-coffee person, but I'm going to have to start drinking it at some point, especially if I end up being a doctor.

"I'll be at your place in fifteen minutes." A text wakes me up faster than an alarm.

Danylo.

He's coming for me. I go to the closet, take out my favourite green tracksuit, which I always wear when I go to see Sebastian.

Someone knocks on the door.

"Come in," I shout.

I look at Lily's empty bed, I'm already used to the fact that she doesn't often spend the night in the dormitory.

"Hey."

I turn to Danylo. He is wearing a black t-shirt that tightly hugs his toned muscles and blue jeans that emphasise everything that needs to be emphasised.

"Hey," I smile, "you shouldn't pick me up."

"It's not difficult for me," he interrupts me.

I nod.

"A green tracksuit?"

"Yes, and what? Do you not like it?"

"No," he says quickly, "I mean, yes, I like it, it's just that I'm not used to seeing you in something casual."

Yes, he is right. Usually, I wear smart clothes, except for the days when I want to stay inconspicuous and wear hoodies and jeans.

"Green is my favourite colour," I answer.

"Mine too, but I never wear green clothes, they don't suit me at all, unlike you."

Damn, I love and hate his dimples.

They make him too cute, and I don't like the fact that I think he's cute.

"Thank you," I smile.

"Ready?" asks Danylo and we leave my room.

He opens the car door for me, but this time I fasten my seat belt myself.

"It's quite cold today," he notices, and turns on the heater.

"Yes," I nod and hide my hands in my pockets. "Especially if you're wearing a T-shirt," I point to his clothes.

"I'm not cold, I'm worried about you." He says.

I don't answer anything. We need to stay as far away from such conversations as possible.

"You can connect and turn on music if you want." He suggests.

"You asked for it." I smile.

"Is all your music bad?"

"My playlist depends on my mood. It includes Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Eminem, Cardi B."

"Just don't say yet that you listen to Justin Bieber." "No," I laugh.

"Then turn it on," Danylo smiles, "it's interesting to hear what your mood you’re in today."

Not that this song matched my mood, but I turned on Taylor Swift's Don’t blame me.

"I like your mood, Ami," Danylo laughs.

"I just like this song."

"Especially, I like the verse my name is whatever you decide. And I'm just gonna call you mine."

"Oh, shut up. How many languages do you speak?"

"Amelia, my grandmother is a teacher of German and English, I had no choice but to communicate with her in these languages. At fifteen, for some reason, I decided that I needed to learn Spanish perfectly, besides, I constantly watch movies and series in the original.

"There’s so much I don’t know about you yet."

"It's easy to fix," he casts an involuntary glance at me, "ask anything that interests you."

"Favourite singer?"

"I don't have a favourite."

"Hmm," I wonder, "favourite sport?"

"Ice-hockey, I used to play, but I quit a few years ago."

I pause for a second to imagine him in a hockey uniform.

It would definitely suit him. He is tall, he has abs and strong arms. I'm sure he would be one of the hottest ice-hockey players that all the girls would die for.

"Favourite film genre?"

"Science fiction, I hate thrillers."

"Then you will like the film we are going to see today," I smile and Danylo's look at me again.

He is not allowed to look at me like that. It's just not allowed. You should be put in jail for eyes like that. He drives all the girls crazy.

"How many girls did you date?"

"I only had one serious relationship, before I met Zlata, after the accident I did not have the best period of my life, every day I slept with a new girl and did not see any problems in this at all. I was quite popular in our university in the first years, almost everyone wanted to be in my bed." "Well," I laugh.

"You just don't know how I am with girls," he winks at me.

No, Amelia.

Don't you dare.

Don't you dare imagine him naked.

Well, it's too late.

I definitely have a place in hell.

We finally pull up to Sebastian's house and I exhale. Actually, it's not that hot in the car, so I don't know why I was sweating. I open the apartment with my key and we go inside.

"Sebastian," I shout.

"Shit", is heard from the next room.

We look at each other with Danylo.

Sebastian runs out of the room in a pair of boxers, and I close my eyes.

"Get dressed," I shout.

He picks up the first thing he can find. It was a pillow.

My. Pillow.

This is almost the only thing I have left from Denys, he gave it to me when I turned thirteen. I didn't want to throw it away, so I left it here.

I will kill him.

"What is happening here?"

"Why didn't you warn that you were coming?" he says just as angrily.

"Me?" I gasped. "Look at your phone, idiot, I texted you yesterday."

"Look at yours, you didn't text anything."

Well, I will definitely kill him now. He knew I was coming to take a bath, couldn't he finish with his whore earlier?

I go to the message and freeze. Yes, I did text him, but I did not send the text.

Danylo snorts with laughter. After him, Sebastian, and then me.

"Okay." I raise my hands up. "Next time." And I go to the exit. "But if my pillow will be so close to your dick again, I'll kill you."

"Got it." Sebastian throws the pillow aside and closes the door behind us.

"Just wonderful," I moan.

"Don't be upset, darley. " Danylo comes close to me. "Now we will come up with something."

Sebastian: The cinema is cancelled for today. I have some work to do. Love you.

"Asshole," I shout, because I know that Sebastian will hear, "he cancelled the cinema today."

The day started just terribly. I'm angry. And hungry. And I want to take a bath. Am I really asking for much?

We have showers in the dorm, but sometimes I miss lying in the bath for hours.

I feel tears coming to my eyes.

"Hey," Danylo wipes one of those tears that rolled down. "Well, what's going on, darling?" he hugs me.

"I am terribly hungry, dirty and upset."

"I want to notice that you smell nice," Danylo laughs, "and we will solve everything else now."

He steps back and asks me to follow him.

"Where are we going?" I ask when Danylo gets up.

"You will see now."

He is distracted by something on the phone for a second, but hides it from me. I go to the playlist and turn on a song by Lana Del Rey.

A smile appears on Danylo's face.

Three songs later, we find ourselves at the entrance to one of the most expensive hotels in Kyiv.

"Wait here," Danylo orders, and gets out of the car.

Although I wouldn't call it an order, it's more like a polite suggestion. He disappears behind a large glass door, and after a few seconds he returns from there with a wide smile on his face.

"Room four hundred and forty-two, hot water, bathtub, everything is there, until the end of the day it is paid, so let out as much water as you want. " He gave me the key to the room.

I’m silent. I look at him with my red eyes, and I don't know what to say. If it weren't for the ring on his finger, I would definitely have gone beyond the hug. And while it's wrong, it's terribly wrong to deceive him and myself. I know I don't have feelings for him, but that doesn't change the fact that I enjoy spending time with him.

"Thank you," I say with tears.

"Well, you are crying again, what is it now? " Danylo asks kindly.

"I am pleased with your act, and although you should not have done it, thank you."

"Stop crying darling, go enjoy a warm bath, and I'll be back in an hour, the movie is still waiting for us," he runs his hand along my cheekbone, and I lower my head down.

I can't look at him, especially when his face is so close to mine.

I get out of the car, enter the elevator and go up to the right floor.

I open the room door and gasp. Everything in this place speaks of sophistication and wealth. The room is spacious, it has everything you need and even more. I waste no time and immediately go into the bathroom. Huge mirror, shower, bathtub, two sinks and two toilets. This bathroom is even bigger than my dorm room.

I would live here.

Certainly.

I submerge myself in hot water and close my eyes.

Complete silence and peace. I missed it so much. There is nothing in my thoughts. Absolutely nothing. In front of my eyes is a white picture, on which I just concentrate and forget about everything.

Forty minutes later, I hear Danylo coming back and little by little I start to come to my senses.

I do my hair, put on light makeup and put my tracksuit on.

"Did you order me food?"

He never ceases to amaze me.

"You were brought up as a real gentleman," I smile.

"Did I already say that my grandmother raised me?"

"Just a thousand times."

I approach the table. Danylo even made green tea for me. He bought me croissants, cheesecake, an omelet and pancakes.

"I didn't know what exactly you would want from this," he excuses himself when he notices my surprised look.

"I don't care, I would eat everything right now."

"Well, then treat yourself."

"Thank you," I don't know how to put all the meaning and all the feelings I want to convey to him in one word, but I probably succeed when he smiles and nods.

He always knows what I'm thinking. Always feels me. Always makes me happy.
