Chapter Four
Weariness weighed on JJ. He had only grabbed quick naps before and after his appointment yesterday.
Today would be the same. He had to go to the hospital to do some pre-op shit.
It was sad that one reason JJ looked so forward to this surgery was so he could have some time off to sleep.
He was so freaking tired. JJ never used his sick days or vacation time since he had nowhere to go.
Now he wondered if Henry would let him tack some of that built-up time to the end of medical leave so he could rest. Unfortunately, he knew he would need those days for the long road ahead.
Leary talked as if this whole process would be a lot.
If JJ wanted to sleep again once they got started, he would need some nights off.
He couldn’t stop thinking about Leary offering to let him walk him inside last night.
JJ wanted to cry over having to turn him down.
Between dinner and the park, JJ had the best time he’d ever had.
While Leary worried about JJ’s age, Leary let JJ feel young for once.
JJ couldn’t take it anymore. He knew Leary was busy, but he still texted him.
JJ: How is your day going?
There. Leary could answer that whenever he had a free moment.
Leary: It’s going fine. How about you?
Since he still had a few minutes before his appointment, JJ took advantage.
JJ: It’s okay. I have that pre-op thing. They said something about a 3D graph or something like that over the phone. All their big words went over my head.
He almost wanted to take the text back. Leary was so freaking smart. JJ hated to sound dumb, but really. He hadn’t gone to school after the tenth grade. All JJ’s smarts were street smarts.
Leary: That’s okay. I’ll be with you every step of the way. It’s an overwhelming process and things are moving way faster than usual. You’ll be confused sometimes, but you’ve got this.
JJ felt a little better. He still felt out of his depth, though.
Leary was so much more of everything than he was.
Add in the whole Little thing and JJ was doubly confused.
He didn’t know anything about the whole daddy side of things, and he wasn’t about to ask.
JJ would definitely do whatever it took to satisfy Leary.
He just didn’t feel any of this was in his wheelhouse, and Leary likely wouldn’t simply say what he wanted.
Leary blushed too much for that. He got the feeling they would be floundering a lot.
Part of him thought he should back away and let Leary find someone who knew what he needed and was on the same level as him. Leary was special. JJ was no one.
Leary: I’ll be off by four thirty today. Would you like to come over and watch a movie?
Hell yeah. There went his sleep. He didn’t care. Some things were worth the exhaustion.
JJ: I can be there by five, but I have to be at work again by eleven.
Leary: That’s okay. We can order takeout. I hope you don’t plan on working tomorrow night. They’ll probably want you at the hospital by at least five thirty.
JJ: No. Henry said I could have tomorrow off and then be off as long as I need.
He didn’t mention the family was headed to the Hawaii compound, so he wouldn’t really be needed for a few months. As much as he adored Leary, that was Bosi business. JJ couldn’t speak on that.
Leary: That’s great! Who do you have lined up to bring you and take care of you afterward?
Shit. He needed someone to take him and care for him afterward. JJ didn’t have anyone.
Leary: Tell me tonight. My appointments are backing up. See you at five.
Well, fuck. Now he had to figure out how to get around this whole not having anyone situation. Nothing was ever simple in his life. It was exhausting. His life was always one bullshit fire after another. Maybe Leary could help him figure this out tonight. He couldn’t deal with this right now.
After his shower, Leary put on his one-piece pajamas. Five minutes later, he second-guessed himself. JJ hadn’t shown any interest in him at The PlayPen. The doorbell rang before he had time to truly panic and change. Still, he answered the door, holding his breath.
A huge grin lit JJ’s face as soon as he saw Leary. That was addicting. JJ didn’t even say hello. He took a step forward and kissed Leary. He kept it short but only backed off a couple of inches.
“You look adorable.”
Leary took a step back and looked down at himself. “Really? I was worried you’d ask me to change.”
JJ scowled. “I’d never ask you to change.”
Discomfort struck from nowhere. People scowling at him was familiar territory.
JJ’s expression transformed. He visibly closed off. That wall was up again—the one he hid behind. “Why do you look like… never mind. How was your day?”
Great. They had taken a giant step backward. He felt that in the air. Leary motioned toward the couch.
JJ followed his silent offer to sit.
The moment he was seated, Leary straddled him and took the kiss he needed.
The instant JJ’s mask had fallen into place—it hit Leary.
Leary’s discomfort gave JJ the wrong impression.
He didn’t know what JJ’s thoughts were. Whether he thought he scared Leary or what, Leary had to fix it.
Being brave was how he had caught JJ’s attention to begin with.
If Leary knew how to do one thing, it was to fake it until he made it. He wasn’t weak.
As always, they got carried away. All that existed when they kissed was each other.
In an impressive show of strength, JJ stood, keeping his hold on Leary.
He took Leary down on the couch. His sexy body covered Leary.
Leary was embarrassingly aroused. But he would be damned if he ruined this.
JJ moved restlessly against him, making the situation worse.
“Everything about you turns me on.” JJ made the claim between kisses.
Leary was certain JJ could make him come using only his words. “Same.”
The zipper on his PJs slid down.
Leary whimpered.
JJ pulled away and stared at the inches of new skin bared with each tooth that separated. “I don’t know how to be a daddy.” His gaze lifted and collided with Leary’s. “But I know how to fuck you to make you fly.”
“Holy shit.” There was no stopping the whispered words that sounded like a benediction.
While still holding Leary’s gaze and with his weight braced on one hip, JJ fully unzipped the outfit.
His hand dove inside Leary’s underwear. Leary knew his hand had been smeared with pre-cum.
Losing his dominant hand didn’t stop JJ’s talent.
He stroked Leary while still not looking away.
No embarrassment reared its head. He wanted JJ too much.
No one in their right mind would be ashamed of that.
Leary’s entire body simmered. He bit his bottom lip to stop all the noises he wanted to make.
JJ stopped.
A whine escaped Leary.
“Don’t hold back. I want to hear how you sound when I’m tugging on your cock.”
Holy fucking hell. Leary wasn’t going to survive this. This was some intense shit he had never experienced. But Leary did as told and released his bottom lip.
“Good boy.” JJ went back to stroking him.
For real, Leary wasn’t looking for a daddy, but that good boy had nearly sent him over the edge.
JJ was always intense, but this was different.
Every ounce of whatever hid behind JJ’s eyes was focused solely on him.
JJ held him hostage with his stare. Sounds he didn’t know he could make came from deep inside Leary’s chest. He couldn’t have stopped if he tried.
Leary shamelessly humped JJ’s palm. His hips kept chasing after him, and Leary couldn’t breathe. Pressure built.
“That’s it. I want your cum. Give it to me.”
Leary was beyond hearing or understanding a single thing. His entire focus was locked on the building pressure. His muscles clenched. He went wild beneath JJ. So much so, he knew he would blush hot later. His entire body convulsed hard, and cum hit his stomach.
JJ slithered down his body and licked him clean before ensuring even his dick didn’t leave a drop behind.
Leary watched without blinking. How in the world had this ended up being his life? This sort of thing didn’t happen to people like him. Not a single bad boy had ever looked Leary’s way. Now Leary couldn’t see anything else but JJ.
JJ’s chin lifted. His eyes were bright with happiness and arousal. He practically glowed. “What’s for dinner? I’m starving.”
Laughter burst from Leary and then didn’t stop. He had never been so ecstatic in all his life. JJ really made everything look beautiful. He had never wanted to stay in the world as badly as he did now. Leary saw a happy future for once in his life. He couldn’t let this stop.
