Goon

I sat comfortably in the seating room of the owner’s suite and looked around the spotless bedroom.

Everything had a place, and the things that belonged in that place were there.

The platform bed was up against the wooden walls that housed art with a white woman crying.

It was a creepy ass picture to have above your bed, but stranger shit has happened.

Like that nigga beating his greasy dick to pictures of my wife.

I didn’t give a fuck if she wasn’t my wife when he decided to dip his fat ass hands into his extra stomach and fondle himself. The thought that she wasn’t protected had me about to break out in hives and empty this Glock.

To know that Sigel wasn’t even there to protect her, but to use her, then joined forces with her security added even more fuel to the fire.

The only reason Ollie didn’t have much information about Menace was because Menace didn’t deal with security.

Washington and Duke handled that, and you had to have some kind of ranking to even be invited to be around Menace.

Jett was allowed that privilege because he was related to Washington.

Apparently, Washington’s father was security for Menace’s father when he was alive. The loyalty was grandfathered in.

The beige and black color scheme they went with was marvelous. Everything flowed together, even in the dark. The glare from the resort style pool reflected through the windows.

Imagine waking up to this every morning. Having a view like this while knowing you were as crooked as the First Lady’s wig was something.

My hands remained folded, taking in every part of this room.

Low night tables were on both sides of the bed. One table had a shit ton of pills, paperwork, and eyeglasses scattered on it. The other had one of those cups that Boobie had to have, hand creams, and a shit ton of lip balms. How much lip balm did one woman need?

The late-night show played quietly on the TV in the background, which was never funny. I never understood why they paid those white men all that money for them to piss me off late at night, instead of making me laugh.

It was the dry humor that pissed me off the most about late-night television. I suppose that’s why they were on at night when the rest of the world was sleeping.

“Dorinda, baby, you gotta give me space,” I heard a muffled complaint from under the blanket, as it shifted some. “Hun, come on and give me a bit more space.”

His feet moved slightly while trying to become comfortable in the bed. A bed that had probably cost him lives. Meanwhile, he slept peacefully, sucking up all the air in the room.

“Sorry, Daddy… I wanna be by those saggy ass balls,” a fake voice taunted from under the blanket.

The lights snapped on quicker than a scammer falling when they spotted a puddle without a wet floor sign in a grocery store.

“The… the hell is going on?”

The blankets flipped back, and Menace leaned up with this sinister grin on his face, nearly causing the judge to have a damn heart attack.

He held his chest while staring at Menace, then his eyes wondered to the other side of him. Dorinda was laying on the opposite side of Menace with a smile under her neck.

“Wh…what did you do?”

Menace rubbed Dorinda’s hair, while her dead ass just laid there. Bitch should have been grateful he allowed her to remain in the same bed as them.

“She looks like an angel sleeping, right? Come closer… you see here, I took it from there, and right under her neck.” He pulled the skin back, while blood oozed from her neck.

Menace wore this lost look on his face, and the blood on his hands didn’t matter. This was a nigga who had a sanitizing mist when you entered his home. Here he was pulling a woman’s skin back to show her lover the way he slit her throat, while blood coated his fingers.

The judge held his mouth like he was going to be sick, as he discreetly tried to ease away from the bed and get to the top drawer of his nightstand.

I clicked on the lights that were next to where I was sitting. “Nah, you wouldn’t be grabbing something to hurt my brother-in-law, right?”

It was when the room was fully illuminated that he saw Core sitting in the chair across from mine. “Probably best we close the shades, nah mean,” Corleon chuckled, as he used the home software to close the automatic shades.

“Co…Corleon, what the hell is going on? We… we’re good,” he tried to talk a good game, all while knowing this was going to be the last conversation he would ever hold.

“We were good, Castello.” Corleon messed with his beard while he watched Menace braid this dead lady’s hair.

Castello jumped up from the bed, nearly toppling over. “Whatever you need, you know I have you. Let me get some money and square this away.”

He walked into the closet and then immediately slowly walked back out of it.

“How disgusting of you to throw money at us. You think we’re broke niggas that need the massa’s money?” Kora questioned, as she slowly walked out the closet.

Even though Castello towered over Kora, her presence alone had him shook.

“Jud…Judge Case,” he stammered, shocked to see her standing in his bedroom.

“Very nice to see you, Justice Castello. Small world… didn’t realize when I was invited to your luncheon that you were in my brother’s back pocket.

I tend to stay out of that side of business.

” She picked in her nails. “Not surprised you are into buying pussy when your soon to be ex-wife looks like a garlic knot.”

I couldn’t tell if Castello agreed with her or was offended. If somebody insulted Zoya, I’d be ready to put a nigga’s head through the window. Shit, I was making juice in her pantry with that orange when Sigel called himself coming out the mouth about her weight.

“We treated you like family,” Menace’s low voice carried through the room.

He was now sitting Indian style in the middle of the bed. He was staring down at his hands but managed to look up the same time that Castello looked at him, meeting his gaze.

He smirked.

We all knew that by the time we left Castello’s house, he would be dead. You didn’t get to play both sides and live to talk about it.

Especially not fucking with the Caselli family.

“Castello, we treated you like gold. Flew you private to every gala we held. Made sure you never had to ask twice about needing someone sent to you. Dorinda was one of our girls and you fell in love with her. Which was against the rules, but we’re nice people…

very understanding.” Core leaned forward.

“We knew her pussy wasn’t going to stop you from sampling more. ”

“The divorce is wiping me clean, and I cannot afford to spend like I was before. She has so many forensic accountants in my accounts that I cannot slip up or explain the large amounts of money.”

“Damn.”

“What happened?” I asked Corleon.

“I’m sorry that he just called you a stupid nigga boy who can’t count, Corleon,” Kora sincerely apologized like those words had left Castello’s mouth.

He sighed. “The fact that you thought some weak ass forensic accountant could figure out the system I set in place for Case House clients is insulting.”

“He worked hard on that system, too,” Menace added.

“Appreciate that, Mens… you know I get frustrated because ass fucks underestimate me and the work I put in!” he roared and tossed the lamp that was on the table at Castello, busting him in the face.

Castello let out a loud yelp, as the bronze lamp hit him in his face, and caused blood to sprout from his face like a damn juice box.

I could tell from the sound the lamp made when it hit him that it hurt. The lamp fell to the floor, pieces flying from it, as Castello’s hands rushed to his face, filled with his own blood.

“Pl… please, I know you worked hard. Case House is family. I send you Christmas cards for crying out loud,” Castello still tried to stick with that loyalty over everything story.

Kora leaned in the doorway with her arms folded, as she looked at Castello. “Bench trial. You weren’t a Justice back then, Calloway.”

“Ca…Castello,” he corrected her.

From the way he looked as he corrected Kora, I could tell he knew he was cooked.

She was so calm and stoic as she spoke, but the fire and pain in her eyes told me that the emotions were swirling inside of her. She’d rather die before she allowed anyone in this room to experience her falling apart.

Reminded me of my baby.

The correction of his name wasn’t important at the moment.

She had held onto his name, powerless because there wasn’t anything that she could do.

Like she told me, the hardest thing she had to do was witness the love of her life sit behind that wall and serve time knowing the system fucked him over.

“It was out of my hands, Judge Case.” He hung his head, allowing the rest of the lie to linger throughout the room.

Between the knot, the blood and the start of the bruising on his pale face, his ass probably had a concussion. I looked at Corleon’s arm because the way he launched that lamp, his ass should have been playing professional football.

“Funny. The case was out of your hands, but not the three million that was wired into your account. Not the word you gave that you would assure he would walk out that courthouse a free man.”

He stood up so fast that he had no choice but to sit right back down quickly.

Blood was probably rushing to his damn head with how hard Corleon tossed that lamp.

All this shit was coming at him at the same time.

I felt like my eyes were playing games on me because his knot seemed to be growing by the second.

“Somebody wanna fill me in… a nigga a little lost over here,” I cleared my throat, needing them to explain whatever they were into. They were going to be my in-law’s, so I needed a quick crash course on all of this.

Even if you wanted, you couldn’t dismiss the pain and hurt in Kora’s eyes as she watched Castello. He winced in pain, knowing that the chaos and grimy shit he had done over the years had finally caught up to him.
