Epilogue
The gym was already lit up when Raven and Dan arrived.
In the sparring ring, Havoc was going hot and heavy after a guy Raven hadn’t seen before.
She and Dan stood outside the ring and watched.
They were both very good, but Havoc had a smoother approach and carriage.
The other man was taller than Havoc and had reach on him, which he used to his advantage.
Phantom walked up and stood next to her. “Ah, the cousin’s back.”
“Cousin?” She asked without looking at him.
“Yeah, that’s Havoc’s cousin. He works in domestic operations. Lead investigator or some such thing.”
“Yeah?” Demon asked as he came ringside with them. “Investigator, huh?”
“Good guy. Just not sure how much he knows about us.” Phantom shrugged. “So be careful with what you say.”
Raven watched the man Havoc was fighting. “They’ve been trained by the same person.”
“Fury,” Rook said.
She turned and looked at him. “How long have you been standing there?”
“Long time. You were distracted by your man Danno here.”
“Don’t let him lie to you. He came up at the same time as Phantom.” Dan said, still watching the fight in the ring.
Havoc’s cousin landed a kick that sent Havoc to the ground, but he was up a heartbeat later. “Where did you learn that one?” Havoc said as he shook it off and they moved around the ring.
“Aunt Jade.” The man laughed.
Havoc stopped and dropped his arms. “Are you kidding me?”
“Nope. She damn near kicked my ass last month. I had to play dirty. She still took it out of me, though.”
Havoc glanced to the side of the ring. “Everyone, this is my cousin Marcus. Marcus, this is… everyone, and fuck no, I’m not introducing you.”
Marcus smiled and lifted a hand in acknowledgment to them. “Thanks for the workout, I needed to get out of my head. I have a case that is driving me insane.”
“What kind of case?” Blake asked as he removed his wraps on his hands.
“Serial killer…or at least I think it is, but I need to be able to tie them together. As of right now, I have a list of women who are dead, and body positioning is common, but nothing else.”
“Is that a thing? The body positioning?” Raven asked.
The guy nodded. “It seems to be, which is a pain in the ass in multiple ways.” He was unwinding his tape from his hands, too.
“Well, if anyone can find that son of a bitch, it’s you,” Havoc said and cuffed his cousin on the shoulder. “Come out to the cabin and see Elise and me.”
“You got it,” Marcus held up a hand toward them and got out of the ring, heading to the locker room.
Havoc slipped through the ropes and dropped down in front of them. “I’m not going against Raven or Dan first. Someone else needs to wear them out before I get in the ring again. Marcus may be domestic ops, but he knows how to fight.”
Phantom grabbed the ropes on the ring. “Danno, that’s you and me. You have to show me that flow and throw thing again.”
“He’s going to show you by throwing you,” Rook said from ringside.
“Well, how else does a person learn?” Raven asked. She looked around at her team. They were family. She watched as Dan entered the ring. Family. Chosen and fought for. This was what mattered most.
