Sierra #2
It was too fucking early to be up, especially on a Friday, the last one before heading back to school.
I should be sleeping in as much as possible.
Soon it’ll be five days a week that I’ll have to be up at the crack of dawn.
To top it off, it was a new school and our senior year.
Dad is so excited about this opportunity to be a guidance counselor and head football coach, and the added benefit is his boyfriend John is from this town and has a home already here that he inherited from his grandfather.
It seemed like fate had stepped in and paved this path for us.
Dad had given us the choice to stay with Gramps and Grams to finish our senior year, but we wanted to be with him.
“Brax, time to get up. We’re supposed to meet the guys at the lake at eleven.” My twin brother, Colton, steps into the room. He has a towel wrapped tightly around his waist, so he must have just showered.
“Fine, I'll get up. I wonder if that girl I saw yesterday will be there?” The girl working at the store nearly talked my ear off about how I needed to stay away from her, but her voice was so irritating I tuned out over half of what she said, trying to get out of there as fast as I could.
“She was a smoke show, huh?” Colton asks, a grin on his face.
We have an attraction to the same type of girl and have been known to enjoy sharing them.
He opens the dresser drawer and pulls out a pair of swim trunks, dropping the towel to pull them on.
It still kills me how identical we are, right down to the odd red birthmark on our right hip.
“Maybe you can ask Wes about her when we meet them at the lake? If anybody knows who she is, it would be him.”
“Yeah, just you wait. Once you see her, you’re going to live with a permanent boner,” I joke, throwing the blanket off of me. “Toss me some trunks while you’re standing there.”
He reaches into the drawer and tosses a pair at me. “Get dressed, dude. I’m going to go wake up Zan and see if Dad or John have made breakfast yet.” When he opens the door, we both hear the sound of skin slapping and muffled groans.
“That would be no.” We both burst out laughing.
It takes a minute for me to catch my breath before I continue.
Colton's face quickly morphs from laughing to a look of disgust, and not because it’s two dudes; it’s our dad.
Who wants to hear, see, or imagine their parents screwing?
“I’ll get dressed quickly. You get Zan, and we can hit a drive-thru. ”
I quickly change into my swim trunks, snatch my wallet up, and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
Slipping my feet into my sliders, I grab three towels out of the hallway closet and run down the stairs.
By the sound of the moaning coming from the other room, they were getting close, and I in no way wanted to hear that shit.
Not even five minutes later, I’m just stepping outside when Colt and Zan are hurrying down the stairs behind me, heading straight for the door.
They aren’t paying attention and both end up crashing into me in a fit of laughter once we’re outside.
Thankfully, we manage to keep from falling to the ground.
“Oh, my god. I hope to hell I can still go at it like the two of them when I’m their age,” Zan says, doubling over, holding his stomach.
While Colt and I are obviously blood-related, Zan isn’t.
He’s of mixed descent and leans more toward the Hispanic side.
We just aren’t sure if it’s Puerto Rican, Dominican, or another.
He was left on the doorstep of a church.
Thankfully, sometime before Sunday services.
The report stated that he didn’t appear to be left in the elements for too long. Nor was he malnourished.
We were in and out of foster care together, my dad says, until we were about seven, and he fell in love with us.
He would come in and volunteer at the Big Brothers Big Sisters facility and would go on outings with us.
We didn’t know, until the day he showed up to pick the three of us up, that he’d been working on adopting us, and it finally went through.
It was the best thing to ever happen to us; we’d all become brothers.
“Shotgun!” Zan screams out, taking off, and running for the passenger side of the jeep. If you weren't the lucky person to be the driver, then yelling this was our way to determine who was the unfortunate soul to have cramped legs sitting in the back seat.
“Oh, you snooze, you lose, Colt.” I lift the keys, shaking them in my hands, as I jog backward over to the jeep.
“Assholes,” he mumbles under his breath.
“Hey, I just messaged Wes, and he’s going to meet us for breakfast. He needs to stop by the store for some ice and drinks before heading to the lake,” Zan hollers from the front seat.
We’d been here for a couple of weeks when we ran into him one day at the arcade and instantly hit it off, and he introduced us to his friends.
We were lucky that we were going to start the new school together in the same grade, but now having a friend base saved us from that tedious hardship of getting to know people.
Now, the only person I want to get to know is Sierra.
I don’t know what is about her that’s making me act like a lovesick puppy when I only talked to her for a few minutes.
Maybe it was the way her sister talked about her.
Ten minutes later, we’re pulling into the parking lot of a local burger joint.
Wes brought us here one time before and swore by their breakfast, so it wasn’t a shock to see him already in the parking lot, leaning against his green Camaro with yellow racing stripes down it.
As soon as we park beside him and I turn off the engine, the smell of bacon, eggs, and maple syrup hits my nose, making my stomach growl.
“Hey dude, can you help Brax out with this girl? He’s going crazy over her.” Colt asks, beating me to the punch.
“Yeah, man, she's that hot, huh? Do you have a name or am I going to have to figure it out by a description?” he asks as he walks over to our jeep.
“Actually, I got both. She’s got blondish hair about five foot five, banging ass body. I mean, her ass was killer. She was at the shoe store with her sister. Her name’s Sierra,” I tell him, my eyes getting all glazed over as I go on about her.
But then I notice Wes’s face, and the instant change from happy-go-lucky to pissed and repulsed.
“She’s a fucking slut. The best thing you can do is steer clear of her, especially if you don’t want some fucking disease riddling your dick.
Good thing your dad’s gay, so he won’t fall for her seductive charms.” His words are so vile, my stomach clenches because this can’t possibly be the same girl I met.
Fuck… What do I do now? I can see both my brothers staring at me. Not knowing anyone other than Wes and his friends and not wanting to rock the boat at the moment, I do the only thing I can think of.
“Oh, thanks, man. Wouldn’t want to screw up and make that mistake. Glad I asked.”
“You’re welcome. Trust me, you’d be dodging a bullet. I’m fucking starved. Let’s head inside.” He pats me on the shoulder and heads for the door. I glance at my brothers one more time before I follow him inside. They both have the same look. What the fuck just happened?
