Zander #2

She turns her head toward me, a quizzical look on her face as she lets her pen drop to her notebook. “Okay, I’m all ears. What's your idea?”

“So it may seem a bit radical and farfetched…” She cuts me off, “Okay, you’ve made that clear.

We need to try to get as much done today, in the time I have.

I need to pick up my sister at two and it's ten thirty, so we really need to quit beating around the bush.” Note to self; remember to get straight to the point with her.

She takes her hand and brushes some hair that's fallen from her messy bun. I do a double take, thinking I’m seeing shit at first, but no, her neck is covered in glitter.

“I get it, I get it. Get to the point. Were you crafting last night?” You’d swear I had the shortest attention span known to man, the way my brain flips between subjects, but nope, blame it on the nerves.

“Should you be on some type of medication for ADHD? What are you talking about?” She looks confused as hell at my question.

And if I’m not wrong, there’s some definite sarcasm laced in her words.

“Look, if you’re not here to seriously work on this project, I’m going to go.

Should've guessed this was just another silly game to play on me. Especially with who your friends are.”

Fuck, fuck, fuck!!! This is not going how I planned.

“No. No, it’s not a game at all, just nerves, very bad nerves that have me rambling.

You’re just covered in glitter, so I figured you were doing some kind of crafting, and I was curious about it, that’s all.

But we can get right to work.” I reach across the table and grab my notebook, opening up to where I had jotted down some books and my idea.

“Shit. Umm… no… it’s just… umm lotion.” Why do I not believe that? “So, about this idea?” She reaches out, grasping the cup of coffee in her hand, and takes a swallow before immediately pulling it away. “Fuck, I’m sorry, that was yours.”

God, she’s fucking adorable. I can’t help but laugh, but when she looks at me, I know I need to explain. There’s no way I want her to be upset with me. “Nah, it was yours. That’s why I sat it there. For you, silly.”

“Ohh… thank you. That was very nice of you.” She lifts it again, taking a heartier swallow this time, and a small smile of enjoyment creeps onto her face.

“Okay, you’re probably going to think I’m crazy, but see, I love to read.

I downloaded these books to my Kindle that most would say are pretty out there, but I read these stories by self-published authors about one girl with a lot of men and they’re all okay with it.

” She gives me the ‘what the hell’ look, but the next words out of her mouth surprise the shit out of me.

“Reverse Harem, or as it’s being called now, Why Choose. I read those too. Currently, I’m reading something that has vibes like the show Criminal Minds. But what does that have to do with our project?”

Can she get any more perfect? Hell, I know I’m a goner now. Visions of us lounging around on the bed or some oversized bean bags reading a book fill my mind.

“Well, I was thinking we use those types of books versus the classics. Be different and stick out with the teacher. Hell, he might like them too, or at least find something to read to get the stick out of his ass,” I say with a smirk.

“And if he fails us for it? I need to pass, Zander. Honestly, I don’t think he’ll go for it.” She looks down as she picks up her pen and begins to doodle in her notebook.

“What if we start working on it, get a plan? Then on Monday, I’ll present it to Mr. Blake and get the go ahead.

Worst-case scenario, he says no, and we change directions and still have time to get it done.

Best-case scenario, he says yes, and we’ve got a good chunk completed and we’re ahead of the game. ”

She bites her lip nervously as she scribbles on the notepad, well more like draws. I’m not sure who the woman is, but she is gorgeous and has a striking resemblance to Sierra.

“Fine, but you talk to him on Monday. Like I told you before, I don’t have a lot of free time to work on this. So we should probably get to it.”

And get to it, we do. We spend the next hour debating over which author to choose, and once we finally pick one, we then spend another hour debating over which books to choose.

She has different contemporary stories as well as a paranormal series on the market.

However, we ultimately choose to use her contemporary series as they are more geared to reality than wolves are.

Before we know it, it’s almost one, and my stomach growls.

“Want to take a break and get something to eat? I’m starving and the doughnut I ate is long gone.

” She flashes me the cutest little smile and her dimples pop out, surprising me.

I hadn’t seen them before, but then again, she never smiles. That thought makes my heart hurt.

She looks up at the clock on the wall, then frantically shoves her books back into her bag. “Shit, I got to go.” She stands up and quickly pulls on her jacket.

“What’s wrong?” Did I do something? All I did was ask her if she was hungry.

“It’s already after one and I need to hurry if I’m going to make it to the bus stop. I told you I had to get my sister at two.”

She’s pulling the strap of her bag over her shoulder when I reach out and stop her.

“Let me take you. It’s still pouring, and it will save both of you from getting soaked.

We can all three go get something to eat, and then I’ll take you home.

Give us some time to talk and get to know each other.

” Then I add, “Plus, it keeps her out of the rain. You don’t want to risk her getting sick.

Do you?” I’m hoping that will convince her.

She just stares at me, her eyes wide. I can tell she’s thinking about it. But she quickly shakes her head and pulls out of my grasp. “No, it’s okay. Plus, I don’t have enough cash on me for us to eat.”

She doesn’t move to leave, though. Instead, she continues to stare, biting on that plump ass lip of hers that I’m craving to taste like she’s weighing her options.

“Are you sure it’s not an inconvenience to drive us?

You can just take me to pick her up and drop us off at my building.

And no food!” she adds at the end sternly.

I do an inner fist pump at the win. Now to convince her sister she’s hungry and get her on my side.
