17. Jack

Jack

The second the door clicks behind us, my patience snaps.

I spin Izzy around, her back hitting it with a soft thud. My mouth crashes into hers, and it’s nothing like the careful distance I kept all night.

I’m desperate.

Izzy fists my tux’s jacket like she’s holding on for dear life, and when her tongue meets mine, I swear I could die right now, and it’d be enough.

The Chanel ribbon is still tied around the new clutch I bought her. One tug, and I’ve got it in my hand. She gasps when I catch her wrists, raising them above her head. The black silk looks delicate against her skin in a way that makes my chest ache.

“Jack…” Her voice is breathless, somewhere between warning and invitation.

“Tell me to stop.” I press my mouth to her jaw, teasing.

She licks her lips, eyes burning into mine, and whispers, “I don’t want you to.”

Fuck me.

My hand trembles as I tie her wrists loosely, then pin her to the door with my body.

My mouth trails down her throat, and when she arches against me, I scrape my teeth against her collarbone.

Her dress has a slit to her thigh, and I slide my hand up, slow, avoiding where she wants my touch the most.

“You’ve been waiting for this, haven’t you?” I murmur against her ear. Her moan shreds what little restraint I have left. But when I feel that she’s not wearing her panties, it’s like I’m checked hard into the boards.

“Took them off before dessert,” she whispers. “Just in case.”

I drop to my knees and push her legs apart. Her dress rides up, and I bury my face between her thighs. Her scent, her taste—it’s enough to ruin me. She jerks her hips, and I groan against her pussy, licking, sucking, teasing her clit until she’s writhing.

Izzy loops her hands behind my head, moaning my name, and when she shatters, I hold her through it, drinking down every broken sound she gives me.

I should stop here. I should.

But when she looks down at me, lips parted, eyes wide and glassy, I can’t.

I scoop Izzy up, carrying her to the bedroom, and set her on her feet next to the bed.

Izzy’s flushed, still catching her breath. My hands tremble as I brush her hair from her face. “I need…”

She waits, her eyes dropping to my mouth.

“Can’t do that… not right now.” I laugh, tipping my head to rest against her shoulder. I gently untie her hands and kiss the faint red lines left behind. Her fingers trace up my arm, then rake back through my hair. I hiss out a breath. “Shower. Let’s shower. I need a minute.”

She pulls back and tugs at the end of my bow tie. “You in a tux, Mr. Murphy, could be considered a crime.”

“You think I’m pretty?” I tease.

“Please, you know you’re pretty. Don’t let it go to your head. I’ve heard you can be real cocky.”

“Jesus,” I say, struggling to hold it together.

“Nope, changed my mind. Say cock one more time, and break’s over.

” I lean down and graze my teeth against the pulse point at the base of her neck until she shudders beneath me.

When I pull back, a bite mark is left behind, and a possessive flare sparks in my chest.

Mine, I think. She could be mine.

Izzy’s fingers work the buttons of my dress shirt as I tug at the hidden zipper at her side. The two of us struggle to undress one another, patience gone, as we stumble into my bathroom, all hands and giggles.

“Nice place you have.” She tosses aside my pants. “Nice shower. Fancy. Very big.”

The b pops from her red lips. I arch a brow. “Now who’s flirting with who?”

She was not talking about my shower, but the bulge in my underwear she’s pretending not to stare at.

My fingers curl slowly under the straps of her gown, then lift them off her shoulders. The red velvet pools at her feet, and Izzy stands in front of me in a nude strapless bra, her eyes wide as I take her in.

“Less sexy when I’m not wearing any underwear.” Izzy shifts, one hand moving to cover herself.

I only twirl my finger for her to spin, refusing to believe the beautiful woman in front of me isn’t sexy. She could wear a trash bag and make it look good. My fingers quickly unhook her bra, and I let it fall to the warm tile floor between us.

For a second, the only sound is her soft exhale as her shoulders drop.

“Seems unfair, I’m naked first.” She keeps her back to me.

“We can stop.”

“No.” Slowly, she turns, arms at her sides, but she won’t meet my eyes.

“Hey,” I whisper. “Afraid to see it?”

A soft laugh bursts out of her. “You would say something like that. No, I’m… I know I’m not what you’re used to. I’m not a model, and I sure as hell am not stick thin.”

“You’re perfect.”

“You don’t have to say things like that. This doesn’t count, remember?”

“And if I want it to?”

“Come over here” is all she says. There’s a small tremor in her voice as she reaches out, slips her fingers under the band of my underwear, and drags me close.

I shuffle forward. She might as well just take me for a walk.

I’ll follow her anywhere. She meets my eyes, then runs her hand once over my throbbing cock.

There’s already a bead of precum staining the front of my underwear.

My eyes shut on a sharp hiss when her hand slips beneath the fabric and grips me.

“Fuck, Iz.”

Her head falls against my chest, as her palm pumps up and down, until I can’t take it anymore, and step out of my underwear. I guide us both back into the walk-in glass shower and turn on the faucet.

“You said five,” she murmurs.

I spin her so her ass is pressed back against me, my hand between her legs. I draw slow circles as the warm water washes over us. When she trembles, I pull her tighter against me.

“I keep my promises, Izzy.”

She cries out, clutching onto me as she falls apart for a second time. “We weren’t supposed to…”

My hand traces up her body, over every curve, until I turn her in my arms and cup her face. “Rules are meant to be broken sometimes.”

Hell, I’ve already broken every one of mine for her.

Then she drops to her knees and peeks up at me. “I keep mine too.”

Sunlight hits me, warm across my face, and for one disorienting second, I’m sure I dreamed it.

Izzy Sinclair in my bed, her thigh slung over mine, her dark hair spilling across my pillow, here in my life in Boston. Not pretend.

Then she makes a soft, drowsy sound beside me, and my cock twitches like a traitor.

Definitely not a dream.

I ease out from under her, tug on some sweatpants, and carefully creep out so I don’t wake her. Somehow, I manage scrambled eggs that are only slightly rubbery, bagels burnt, and coffee that’s passable at best. We’ll stop at Dunks later to make up for it.

She’s blinking awake when I step into the bedroom, sheets pulled to her chest, hair a glorious disaster.

“Morning, Sinclair.” I set the tray across her lap with a flourish. “Breakfast in bed. A pro fake-boyfriend move.”

She squints. “You cooked?”

“Well, an attempt was made.”

Her smile is still slow and sleepy. She bites into a bagel, eyes fluttering shut.

“You’re staring,” she murmurs around her next bite.

“And?” I lean my thigh against the mattress.

She huffs a laugh and shifts, the blanket slipping just enough to remind me she’s very, very naked under there. Her mouth curves. “How’s my lipstick?”

I choke on my coffee. “Remarkably unsmudged, all things considered. We could try again.”

She leans back on the pillows, eyes glinting. “When’s practice?”

Fuck. I’m already hard again.

I set the mug aside, lift the tray off her lap, crawl over her until she’s laughing against my mouth. The food nearly topples, but she doesn’t care, and neither do I. My hand slides under the sheets, down her thigh, and when she gasps, I grin against her neck.

“This doesn’t count,” I murmur, tracing soft circles over her clit with my thumb.

She pants. “Doesn’t count?”

“We had to kiss to fool everyone. We’re just practicing now.” I trail my lips from her temple to her cheek, then her mouth, losing myself for a minute. “Need to make it convincing for next time. Any lawyer would back me up in court.”

Her laugh stutters into another breathless sound as I slide my fingers lower, testing how ready she is for me.

“Jack,” she warns, or tries to at least. My name melts into a moan when my fingers slip inside her.

She drags her nails down my spine, tilting her hips into my hand like she has something to prove. “You’re trouble.”

“And you,” I say, kissing her again, “are so fucking pretty when you fall apart for me. One more time before we have to leave.”
