Chapter 2
two
Angel.
That’s the first word that pops into my head when the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen steps onto the stage.
Covertly, I try adjusting my position in my seat, hoping it will give my cock some relief from where it’s pressing painfully against my jeans. Sadly, it only makes it worse. So I stretch out my legs and cross them at the ankles, which helps release some of the pinch.
Jesus. I’m losing my mind. Can’t tear my eyes away.
I watch in awe as she grips the pole and climbs.
Long, toned legs wrap around the smooth metal, squeezing as she flips upside down. White-blonde hair cascades toward the floor, creating a halo effect around her face.
Even from here, I can see her ice-blue eyes scanning the crowd, and when they land on me, it’s like getting sucker-punched in the chest.
She’s stunning.
Fuck me.
I take a long drag of my beer, trying to cool the heat flooding my veins. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Not tonight.
Brex dragged me out for “a little fun” after a particularly grueling couple of weeks fighting fires up in Canada. I’d been reluctant, but now that I’ve seen her? I can’t imagine being anywhere else.
“Hey, sorry I took so long,” Brex says, sliding into the seat beside me. “Line for the restroom was insane...”
Eyes fixed on the stage, I barely acknowledge him with small nod. I can practically feel the exact moment Brex spots her too when his voice drops off and his body goes still.
Releasing a low whistle, he leans in. “Damn, man. You think she’d be down?”
Surprised, I huff out a breath. “Seriously? We just got here.”
“What?” He shrugs, that easy grin of his spreading across his face. “You know how we roll. And look at her. She’s fucking gorgeous.”
I shake my head and shove him away. But I can’t deny the image his words conjure. Tangled up, her body writhing between us. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve shared, but there’s something about this one that feels different. Dangerous, almost.
The angel on stage arches her back, spreading her legs in a perfect V that has the crowd going wild. Jeans even tighter now, I shift in my seat again. I’ve seen plenty of beautiful women in my life, but there’s something about this one that’s got me more than caught up.
“We don’t even know her name,” I mutter.
Brex laughs. “Like that’s ever stopped us before.”
My eyes narrow as I watch a guy approach her, cash in hand. Something ugly twists in my gut as she grabs her tits, blowing him a kiss when he tosses the bill on the stage, even though I know it’s just part of her job.
“Whoa, you should see the look on your face,” Brex chuckles, nudging my shoulder. “You’re practically growling, man. You want her all to yourself, don’t you?”
I don’t answer. I can’t. Because the truth is, I do want her—and not just for tonight. There’s something about her that calls to me, makes me want to know everything about her.
Also, I saw her first.
“You gonna go up there or what?”
“Nope.”
“Well, if you won’t, I sure as fuck will.”
Brex saunters up to the stage, his confident stride and easy smile drawing the attention of nearly everyone in the club. The angel tracks his approach for only a few moments before she slides down the pole.
When she drops to all fours, crawling across the stage toward him, my cock thickens even more painfully against my jeans.
Flashes of her in that same position—my hands gripping her hips, pistoning deep while Brex takes her mouth—are so vivid I have to shift in my seat, my breathing growing ragged.
“Fuck,” I mutter, taking another long pull of my beer.
I can’t hear what he’s saying from here, but I see the way she smiles at him, eyes darkening with interest.
Brex has always had that effect on women. With his easy charm and no-holds-barred confidence, he’s the reason why we’ve shared more than a few women over the years.
But watching him with her feels different. It’s not just the physical attraction—though that’s overwhelming enough—it’s something deeper. Something that makes me want to claim her as mine.
Studying her reaction, I clinch my jaw as Brex drags the bill down her side before tucking it into what’s left of her outfit. I should be up there with him, not sitting here like some nervous, lovesick sap.
Slowly she rises to stand before him, which puts her pussy right up in his face.
The moment her eyes lock with his, her expression shifts. Suddenly, she stands and turns, practically shoving her ass in Brex’s face before grabbing her cash and hurrying off stage.
A snort escapes when I see his look of surprise as he steps back, momentarily thrown off balance by her hasty exit.
“Looks like she got the better of you,” I snark when he returns to the table, still looking a bit dazed.
“Man, she sure is something else,” he replies, shaking his head with a grin. “One minute she’s looking at me like she wants to devour me, and the next—” He gestures vaguely toward the stage. “I don’t know what happened.”
“She probably realized you’re an idiot.” My eyes are already scanning the club, eager for her to reappear. “Did you get her name?”
“Nope. Didn’t get that far,” Brex admits. “But I’m not giving up that easily.”
The casual comment makes my stomach clench. I should tell him to back off, that I saw her first. But that’s not how we operate, and we both know it.
Neither of us do relationships, or each other.
“Gonna hit the head,” I say, rising to my feet. “These girls usually do more than one set, so she should be back.”
But an hour later, when she hasn’t come back out, we both begrudgingly get up and head back to the station.
Still, I can’t shake the feeling that this isn’t the last we’ll see of her. Deep down, I know that whoever she is—Anael or Lilith—will derail everything I’ve worked so hard to suppress.
