CHAPTER 9

HEAVEN SENT

Angelina

The good news is that I found a guy who looks wealthy

enough to be worth my time. The bad news is that I am not attracted

to him and am disinterested in this boring conversation. I let him

buy me a drink, leading him on until I can steal his wallet. I look for

my friends but have no luck spotting them. The crowd is so big it’s

nearly impossible. Every time I look into his eyes I want to vomit.

Every part of him gives me the ick, from his unkempt, greasy

brown hair and scrawny build to his taste in alcohol, which is a

martini. What kind of a guy drinks a martini? I am so turned off by

him that it ’ s not even funny. My mouth hurts from fake smiling so

much. I thank him for my drink and am about to take a sip but stop

when something coming up to us catches my eye. Is that? Oh shit.

I look at him and ask with a hint of panic in my voice.

“ Nico, what are you doing here? ”
