When I called Enzo yesterday, he sounded angry and
impatient. Probably because I have been so distracted and distant
lately. I ’ m prepared for any outcome of this meeting. He ’ s already
pissed off, and I can say with certainty that replacing him as my
partner will infuriate him, especially doing so with the daughter
he ’ s kept sheltered for so long. That ’ s not going to stop me from
doing it, though. I ’ d do anything for that girl, and she’s earned this
position.
I put on a black suit and red tie, my new favorite
combination. Angelina wears the short black dress she wore the
night I first laid eyes on her. It might be my favorite, but then again,
I say that about everything she wears.
“ I ’ m not so sure your father will like that, but I sure as hell
do, ” I say.
