9. Heavenleigh
Heavenleigh
An all-too-familiar sound pulled me from the most restful sleep of my life. Without opening my eyes, I reached out in search of my phone. When I didn’t immediately touch it, I decided it didn’t matter enough and rolled over, already drifting back to sleep.
Only to roll into a warm, hard body. Eyes snapping open, I looked up into the russet eyes I’d fallen in love with.
Everything from the day before rushed into my head, seeming more like something I’d dreamed instead of reality.
Jake gave me a sleepy smile, his arm snaking around my waist and tucking me closer. “Five more minutes.”
“Mm,” I hummed in agreement, burying my face in his chest. We both needed sleep, something neither of us had gotten much of the night before.
I’d lost count of how many times I’d come.
The man was insatiable, staying inside me even when I’d fallen asleep on him multiple times following the best orgasms of my life.
I’d only had sex with two other men in my life, and honestly, neither of them had been very memorable. Getting off with either of them had been a chore. At one point, I’d thought something was wrong with me. Obviously, that wasn’t the case.
My phone started ringing again. Reluctantly, I lifted my head. We’d showered together sometime during the night, and he’d placed both our phones on the bedside table to charge.
Rolling over, I reached for mine, biting back a hiss as a wave of discomfort exploded between my legs. Ohh, so that was how it felt the next day after getting thoroughly fucked. I could get used to that.
A tiny smile tilted my lips as I grabbed my phone. Only for it to drop when I saw who was calling. Clutching it to my chest, I sat up. “Jake, I need you to be absolutely quiet. Please don’t make a single sound.”
He narrowed his eyes on me. “Why?”
“It’s my mom. Just, please. Don’t say anything. Got it?” He was slow to nod, but thankfully, he did.
Taking a deep breath, I swiped my thumb over the screen and pressed it to my ear. “Hey, Mom.”
“Hey, baby. How is your Friday going?”
It took me a few seconds to remember there was a three-hour time difference between Hawaii and California this time of year. If I were home, I would have already been at the gallery or in my art studio.
“Busy,” I responded. Not exactly a lie, just not the kind of busy she would expect from me. “What’s up?”
Please let everything be okay.
“Everything is great, sweetheart. I just wanted to check in—and also let you know your sister is coming home for a few days. I’m hoping to have a family dinner on Monday since it might be a few more weeks before everyone is home again.
Does that work for you? I know you have that new showcase at the gallery coming up. ”
“Monday is fine, Mom.”
There was a pause on her end, and I closed my eyes, knowing something in my voice must have given me away.
Jake shifted beside me, the rustling sounding overly loud to my ears.
Scooting closer, he pressed a kiss to my bare shoulder.
I shot him a glare that earned me a smirk.
He trailed his fingers up and down my spine, causing my traitorous body to respond.
Less than twenty-four hours and he’d turned me into a greedy slut.
“Are you feeling okay, Heavenleigh?” Mom asked, her voice laced with suspicion.
I elbowed Jake in the chest, trying to put distance between us before he started making me pant. Or whine. Neither were sounds I wanted my mother to hear. “Never better. Just busy, like I said.”
Jake coughed, not too loud, but he was right beside me. Mom gasped. “Are you with someone?”
“That was just Curtis. He has an allergy thing going on.” Jake made a displeased noise when I said the other man’s name, which, of course, my mom heard. I shoved him away, my scowl promising him unimaginable suffering in the near future.
“Curtis couldn’t cough that deep if the poor man had pneumonia. Try again, and this time, I expect the truth.”
Squeezing the bridge of my nose, I gave her a very abbreviated answer. “I met someone.” She squeaked, and I rushed to explain. “It’s very new, Mom. We’re figuring it out.”
“Okay, okay. I’ll let you get back to whatever you were busy doing.” She paused again. “We will discuss this more on Monday.”
“Sure, see you then.” I hung up before she could change her mind and smacked Jake’s arm. “You did that on purpose.”
“Who the fuck is Curtis?” His jealousy dripped from each word like venom.
“Someone I work with at the gallery.” His jaw flexed, and I rolled my eyes, more turned on than I wanted to admit by his show of jealousy. “He’s also married to a kind man named Gable. They have a three-year-old son they adopted from Thailand.”
Grasping my wrist, he tugged me over him then rolled us until I was beneath him. I didn’t have time to think before he was inside me. Tender, overworked muscles protested the abrupt invasion, yet I was already gushing for it.
“You didn’t tell your mom about me,” he growled, his russet eyes wild. With his scruffy beard and messy dark-blond hair, he looked like a version of the Beast.
Gasping, I clutched at his shoulders, my body rocking up to meet each of his thrusts. “I met you yesterday. Universe or not, I think we both need at least a few days before we start shoving our parents at each other.”
“Fuck, I hate that you’re right.” His pace increased. “It shouldn’t even matter. I’m going to put off introducing you to my mother for as long as possible. For your sake and no one else’s.”
“Thank you,” I half laughed, half moaned.
Meeting his parents, especially his mother, was not on my bucket list. Yara had given me plenty of glimpses into what a raging bitch the woman was during our college years.
Although we’d never been formally introduced in person, Miranda Wilson vehemently hated me.
She hadn’t taken the time to learn a single fact about me, only made assumptions.
The woman was an entitled snob, but I didn’t hold that against Yara. I wouldn’t hold it against Jake either.
Whatever this was, wherever the universe guided us, I wanted to be with Jake.
“You’re mine, bunny. I want everyone to know it.”
Hearing the possessive rumble in his voice caused my core to clench around his massive cock.
I was close, the burn of discomfort in my aching muscles adding an extra layer to the euphoria, to the point it was overwhelming.
My brain didn’t know which of my senses to focus on.
Each touch was pleasure mixed with a sting of pain.
The scent of sex was thick in the air. His taste still lingered on my tongue.
Our heavy breathing, every minuscule sound that left us, echoed in my ears.
It was too much, yet not enough, and somehow the perfect combination all at once.
“Ven!” he roared, coming so hard his body began to tremble above me. I locked my legs around his hips, riding the crest as rope after rope of his release filled me.
Sweat coating us, both of us gasping as we attempted to regain our breath, he rolled us so he was on his back and I was draped over him. Closing my eyes, I smiled against his shoulder.
Maybe it was the plethora of orgasms that had fried my brain, but I was boneless, aching, dripping with his come.
And completely in love with this man.
