Chapter 16 Cheng Yizhong’s Warning
"Chen Yi! You're a young master! You can't be a bootlicker for some poor guy!"
Cheng Yizhong tried to shake me awake.
I suddenly understood. "You're right. I need to make him lick me."
"That's more like it. It's late. Want me to send you back?"
I shook my head. If Hanyang saw me arrive by car he would probably notice something wrong.
I took out a card from my pocket. "I still need to ask you to find someone to bring Hanyang's dad back to work for me."
By the time I finished buying the wheels for the dog's lower body it was completely dark.
I did not tell Hanyang. He would worry if he came home and we were gone.
Thinking of that, I walked faster.
Strangely, the small house that should have been lit was completely hidden in the night. I shone a flashlight and immediately saw Hanyang sitting at the door.
"What are you sitting here for? Get inside."
I tugged him but he did not move.
He fished a phone out of his pocket. Before I could feel happy I saw the photo taken through the door crack.
It showed Zhuo Qiang pouring me a drink.
"Chen Yi, were you playing with me?"
"Does toying with other people's feelings give you a sense of achievement?"
"When you saw me believing you so stupidly, did you find it funny?"
Hanyang's breathing was unsteady. His questions carried obvious crying, and his eyes were red.
He looked like a dog wronged with nowhere to vent.
My heart felt as if a knife had carved a gash. I reached out to grab him, but before I could explain, his gaze shifted and he suddenly pulled me forward.
A loud crash sounded beside my ear. From the corner of my eye I saw a wooden stick smash hard onto Hanyang's head. Bright blood snaked down from his dark messy hair, shocking to see.
"Hanyang!"
