151. And a Pull
And a Pull
At some point the fall
became a pull upwards.
It started at my waist,
as though the claws
of some great creature
had wrapped around me
and were drawing me up
to meet its eye.
My limbs were like a doll’s
floating uselessly
as the force pulled
until through the inky dark
I finally saw the light.
And then, just as abruptly
as I had fallen in,
I was out of the water,
tossed inelegantly
onto a rocky ground.
When my eyes cleared
I saw the light reflected first
and then as I turned…
