Chapter 23

It’s been five days since I had Dani in my mouth.

I’ve been craving her. It’s distracting me.

I should be reading about properties, not daydreaming about sucking her clit.

Staring at my computer screen, uninspired, my mind keeps replaying all our little trysts so far.

Stealing a kiss from her in Adam’s bathroom—that’s a memory I’m always going to hold on to.

I stand, raising my desk, needing to get rid of this manic energy.

Gideon Stone

I want to cook for you. Dinner tonight?

She immediately responds.

Dani Sommer

What’s on the menu?

Is there innuendo in that text, or am I overthinking it? I can’t respond “everything” because I’m serious about waiting until the third date. Once we start, I don’t think we’ll be able to stop. At least, I won’t be able to.

Gideon Stone

Have you ever had homemade matzo ball soup?

Dani Sommer

Just googled. Never even heard of that. Looks yummy.

Gideon Stone

Have you been following the rules?

I’m curious if she has made herself come since we last saw each other and hope there hasn’t been anyone else either.

Dani Sommer

Did I really agree to that?

A brat. She’s perfect.

Gideon Stone

RivEt, unit 903. 7:00 p.m.

Dani Sommer

I didn’t agree to dinner yet.

I bite my lip, considering how to respond.

Gideon Stone

See you then.

Dani Sommer

You don’t have to be so bossy.

Gideon Stone

You like it.

Dani Sommer

Maybe.

I chuckle, replaying how it felt kissing her and touching her. Social events on weeknights are rare for me, especially on a Tuesday, but I need to see Dani again. I need to kiss her again. I don’t know what the dating experts say about cooking on the second date, but it feels right.

“Jessica,” I call out, and my assistant stands in my doorway. “I’m going to email you a recipe. Can you get all of the ingredients?”
