Six Weeks Later
Between moving into the new apartment, furnishing it, working, and spending time with Gideon, it feels like I barely have room to breathe.
I can’t believe May is almost over. We’ve only seen each other five times since I first toured my new Wicker Park apartment. It’s actually a blessing he’s so busy.
Thank God I’ve been responsible, saving a ton of money since the start of the year because furniture is expensive. It has really taken a toll on my savings.
Adam has respected my space, and I have no idea what he ended up doing with the furniture or apartment, but that’s not my problem.
Feeling overwhelmed by my never-ending to-do list, I take a shower to calm my mind.
A devious thought percolates. I want to surprise Gideon and thank him for everything the past few weeks, especially for his handyman …

“Can I ask you a favor?”

“Could you block off an hour of Gideon’s time this afternoon and make it look like an important meeting?”
“Only because he has been in a better mood since he started spending time with you.”
“Thank you! And I’ll take all the blame if anything goes wrong.”
“I can block off two to three p.m. today.”
That’s sooner than I would have hoped, but I’m excited to live this little fantasy.
