Chapter 101
After my shower, I go outside looking for Dani.
Of course, she’s already in the lake, I think to myself, seeing her on the swim platform maybe fifty feet from the pier.
I wave at Declan and Lauren as I pass them on the way to join her.
I shouldn’t feel relieved he’s finally slept with someone else, I think, seeing them cuddle on the chair.
Dani and I had a tense morning, and I want to clear the air. Diving in, I swim out and join her on the platform. I pin her down, dripping all over her.
“Get off me,” she playfully squeals, and I know she doesn’t actually want me to get off of her.
“I love you, Dani,” I say, gently kissing her.
“I know, Vasectomy,” she says, but with her sunglasses on, I can’t tell how she meant for that to come across. I take them off her face to look at her.
“You are my baby,” I say. “The only one I will ever want.”
“Can you get off me? Everyone’s outside.” This time, I know she’s serious. I sit in front of her, and we stare at each other for a few long, silent seconds.
“I want to go to this appointment.”
“I’m not stopping you,” I say, even though I want to, but I know I can’t force her into not wanting a child.
“I don’t want a kid for at least five years,” she says after a moment. “There’s so much I want to do before then.”
I believe her when she says that. Five years. That’s a long time. I might only have five years with her, but I’ll take five years over none.
“If you change your mind before then, please be honest with me about it.”
“I don’t lie anymore. Well, I’m trying really fucking hard not to lie anymore.”
I pin her on the platform, kissing her. She wraps her arms around me, and I squeeze her breasts.
“G,” she scolds.
“Everyone is fucking in this house,” I say, and she giggles. “I’m going to be sad if you lose weight,” I whisper. She scoffs, and I kiss down her neck and then kiss her cleavage. “I love how big they are now.”
She pulls me back up, and we kiss until she says, “Let’s swim.”
