“Hey,” I say when Gideon answers his phone.
“Why do you sound winded?”
“I’m power-walking around my neighborhood.”
“At night? I don’t like that. I don’t want you doing that.”
“Come on. I’ve lived in the city for years. Also, I’m calling because of this house. I’m literally staring at my dream house. It’s perfect. Let me send you a photo. If we ever get a house, I want it to be just like this.”
I hear Gideon’s phone ding, then he says, “It reminds me of Declan’s, but a little more modern.”
“I love it!”
“Can you please get back to your place?” he asks, his voice laced with concern.
“Okay. Okay. I’m going.”
