Chapter 10

The aftermath of war was a different kind of violence. Less blood. More calculation.

Raghav spent the week following the attack methodically dismantling every threat, every loose end, every potential future problem.

The Kapoor syndicate was decimated. Their leadership eliminated, their territories absorbed into Singhania control, their remaining soldiers given a choice—swear fealty or flee the city. Most fled.

The family members who'd supported Ranveer faced swift judgment.

Meera and Priya were summoned to Vikram's study, where the entire senior family waited. Akriti stood beside Raghav, her presence a silent declaration of her new status.

"You knew," Vikram said, his voice heavy with disappointment. "About Ranveer's plans. His alliance with the Kapoors."

Meera's face was pale, her hands trembling. "I didn't—I never thought he'd actually—"

"You knew." This from Raghav, his tone flat and merciless. "Don't insult us with lies. You knew about the betrayal and you said nothing."

"He was my husband—"

"And this is my family. My empire. My wife you put at risk." His eyes were empty of warmth. "There are consequences for that."

"Raghav, please—" Priya stepped forward, tears streaming down her face. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything I said, everything I did—"

"You tormented my wife for three years," Raghav said coldly. "Made her life miserable. Called her worthless. Treated her like she was beneath you. And when war came, you stood with the traitors."

"I was scared—"

"You were cruel. There's a difference." He turned to Vikram. "Your decision, Father. But they don't stay under this roof."

Vikram's expression was granite. "You have twenty-four hours to pack your belongings. You'll be given a modest settlement—enough to live on, nothing more. You will leave Mumbai. You will not use the Singhania name. And you will never contact this family again."

"Vikram, please—" Meera sobbed. "Where will we go?"

"That's no longer our concern." His voice was final. "You made your choice when you stayed silent. Now live with the consequences."

They were escorted out by guards, their wails echoing through the mansion.

Akriti watched them go without sympathy. She'd learned that mercy had its place—but not for those who'd allied with people who tried to kill her husband.

"Too harsh?" Raghav asked quietly, his hand finding hers.

"No." Her voice was steady. "Necessary. They chose sides. They chose wrong."

His fingers tightened on hers, pride evident in his eyes.

Two other uncles who'd been part of Ranveer's faction met darker fates. Their bodies were found in the harbor a week later, concrete blocks tied to their ankles.

The message was clear: The Singhania empire was united under Raghav's rule. Dissent would not be tolerated. Betrayal would be met with death.

The security overhaul was extensive. The mansion became a fortress. New walls were erected, topped with sophisticated sensors. Guard rotations were tripled. Every entrance required biometric scanning. The grounds were monitored by thermal cameras and motion detectors.

"Paranoid?" Akriti asked one evening, watching Raghav review security protocols.

"Cautious." He pulled her onto his lap, his arms banding around her waist. "No one gets close to you again. Ever."

"I can take care of myself now. You saw."

"I did." His hand slid up her thigh, possessive. "You were magnificent. Fierce. Deadly when you needed to be. But that doesn't mean I won't protect you with everything I have."

She turned in his arms, straddling him, her hands framing his face. "We protect each other. That's how this works now."

"Yes." He pulled her down for a kiss. "Partners. In everything."

The public declaration came two weeks after the attack. Raghav called a meeting of all allied families—every crime syndicate, every power player, every business associate who mattered in Mumbai's underworld.

The grand ballroom of the Singhania mansion was packed. Hundreds of people, all watching, all assessing, all wondering what this new era would bring.

Raghav stood at the head of the room, commanding every eye. And beside him, seated in a chair that was clearly a position of power, was Akriti.

She wore a blood-red saree, the Singhania diamonds at her throat, her hair swept up in an elegant bun. She looked like a queen.

She was a queen.

"The attack on this family has been dealt with," Raghav announced, his voice carrying to every corner. "The Kapoors are finished. The traitors have been eliminated. The Singhania empire stands stronger than ever."

Murmurs of approval rippled through the crowd.

"But there are changes," he continued. "This empire will no longer operate the way it has. We're expanding legitimate business ventures. Investing in infrastructure. Building something that will last generations."

More murmurs, these uncertain.

"And leading this expansion," Raghav said, his hand falling on Akriti's shoulder, "will be my wife. Akriti Singhania."

The room went silent.

Akriti stood, meeting hundreds of eyes without flinching. "The Singhania empire has thrived on strength and fear. But we're adding something new—compassion with purpose. We'll be expanding charitable works. Education programs. Women's shelters. Economic development in underserved communities."

"Charity?" someone called out skeptically.

"Investment," Akriti corrected. "In people. In loyalty. In building a foundation that can't be shaken. The women I've helped at my shelter—they're grateful. Their families are grateful. That gratitude becomes loyalty. And loyalty is more valuable than fear."

Raghav's eyes burned with pride as she spoke. This was his wife—brilliant, strategic, compassionate without being weak.

"Anyone who disrespects her, disrespects me," he said, his voice dropping to something dangerous. "Anyone who questions her authority questions mine. And we all know how I deal with people who question me."

The threat was unmistakable.

Heads nodded. People bowed. The message was received.

Akriti Singhania was no longer the forgotten wife.

She was the power behind the throne.

That night, after the guests had left, after the last ally had sworn fealty, after the mansion had quieted—Raghav carried Akriti to their bedroom with barely restrained urgency.

"You were incredible tonight," he growled against her neck, kicking the door closed. "Commanding. Powerful. So fucking beautiful I could barely breathe."

"Raghav—"

"Do you know what it did to me?" He set her down, immediately attacking the pins in her hair. "Watching you stand there, owning the room, making grown men bow to you?"

Her hair tumbled down her back as he freed it. "What did it do to you?"

"Made me hard as fucking steel." He spun her around, unzipping her blouse with impatient fingers. "Made me want to claim you in front of all of them. Show them exactly who you belong to."

The blouse fell away. Then her petticoat. Then every scrap of fabric until she stood naked before him.

His eyes devoured her, dark with hunger. "On the bed. Now."

She obeyed, her body already responding to the command in his voice. He stripped with efficient violence, clothes scattering across the floor.

When he climbed onto the bed, there was something feral in his expression. Something unleashed.

"I almost lost you," he said, his hands running over her body—possessive, claiming, checking for injuries that had long since healed. "During the attack. When that bullet passed so close to your head. I almost lost you."

"But you didn't—"

"I could have." His voice broke slightly. "And it would have destroyed me. Do you understand? If they'd taken you from me, I would have burned the entire fucking world down."

"Raghav—"

"Never." He gripped her hips, his fingers digging in hard enough to bruise. "You're never leaving me. Never getting taken from me. You're mine. Forever."

"Yes." She pulled him down, kissing him desperately. "I'm yours. Always yours."

He entered her in one brutal thrust, swallowing her cry with his mouth. There was nothing gentle about this coupling. It was primal. Desperate. A claiming as old as time itself.

He took her hard and fast, each thrust driven by relief and fear and overwhelming love. She met him stroke for stroke, her nails raking down his back, leaving long red marks.

"Mine," he growled, his teeth sinking into her shoulder.

The pain mixed with pleasure, making her cry out. "Yours! God, yes, yours!"

He marked her—teeth and tongue and sucking kisses that would leave bruises for days. Her neck, her breasts, her thighs. Every visible inch of skin bore evidence of his possession.

"This body belongs to me," he said, his hand wrapping around her throat—not squeezing, just holding, claiming. "Every part of it. Your mouth, your breasts, your perfect cunt—all mine."

"Only you," she gasped. "Only ever you."

"That's right." He changed angles, hitting that spot deep inside that made her see stars. "No one else will ever touch you. Ever see you like this. Ever make you feel what I make you feel."

"Never—oh God, right there—"

"Here?" He thrust harder, grinding against that perfect spot. "You like that?"

"Yes! Please, Raghav, please—"

"Please what? Tell me what you need."

"More. Harder. Everything." She was begging now, shameless. "I need everything you have."

His control snapped.

He flipped her onto her stomach, pulled her hips up, and entered her from behind in one powerful thrust. The new angle let him go even deeper, and she screamed into the pillow.

"That's it," he encouraged, his hand tangling in her hair, pulling her head back. "Let me hear you. Let the whole mansion know who fucks you this good."

His other hand slid around to her clit, circling relentlessly. The dual stimulation was overwhelming. Pleasure built at the base of her spine, coiling tighter and tighter.

"Come for me," he ordered. "Come on my cock. Show me this pussy belongs to me."

The crude words pushed her over. She came with a scream, her body convulsing, clenching around him so hard it bordered on pain.
