Chapter 10 #2

"Outreach II is returning home. We have Earth in sight.

I'm bringing friends with me to help Earth overcome the intruders.

There are eleven ships approaching, ten of which you won't recognize.

Their outer shell is bronze in color, distinguishing them from other known alien ships.

Don't fire on them when they divide to cover our leaders' cities.

They alone can defeat our enemy. I trust them and so should you.

It was their world we crashed upon. They could have destroyed us, enslaved us, or imprisoned us.

Instead, they cared for our injured and repaired our ship.

They are voluntarily coming to help us at the risk of their own society.

Until now, they had remained undetected and would have liked to stay that way.

We shattered their peace and yet they are willing to not only forgive us, but save our planet.

These soldiers are the Talonians. Commander Hesher, would you care to join us? "

The video feed changed abruptly, shocking the humans watching. The command center of a different ship appeared with a large bearded man on screen. "Meet Hesher, commander of the Talonians," Lydia announced.

"You are human," the Alpha Station commander declared. "What nonsense is this?"

"I assure you; I am not human. Our planet is far from your solar system, uncharted by humans.

However, we do know of you, and you have seen one of us before.

He once lived among you, built an empire, and gave you weaponry unsurpassed by other worlds.

His company remains one of your greatest in weapons manufacturing and trade.

For the gifts that he brought back to us and for the friends we have made among the crew of the Outreach II, we offer our services in conquering your enemies.

We wish to negotiate an alliance with Earth," Hesher replied.

"What is he talking about, Captain Valor? He is confusing us," the President of the United States inquired.

"He is talking about me," Kelan answered, stepping into the light. "You know me. You were the Secretary of Defense at that time. It is wonderful to see you have earned the position of president."

"Kelan Rankin, we thought you had died. Please, explain what is going on. Things are getting more and more twisted in our minds. Have you made us a weapon that will work on these piles of gas that are trying to take over Earth? Why the spaceships and the pretending to be aliens? "

"No one is pretending. I am sorry for the previous subterfuge.

It was necessary to keep Talonia hidden and yet save it from our own enemies who had taken old Earth weapons in order to attack us.

I am only here because I was trusted among you and hope to garner your trust for Hesher and his soldiers.

A weapon to destroy your attackers cannot be manufactured.

If it could, I would have made it and sent it back with Lydia," Kelan explained.

"So, you claim to be an alien? Are we supposed to just accept that statement without proof?"

"Everyone on board my ship can attest to the fact that they are speaking the truth.

We have been on their planet. We have met their king and his heir to the throne.

We have recordings of the solar system that contains Talonia.

Their ships are further proof. The technology on them surpasses ours.

The communication I am using is their design.

Ours couldn't be fixed. Look closely at Hesher's eyes.

They are not human. If you stare into Kelan's, you will see something behind the emerald green.

I have no reason to lie, and neither do they," Lydia declared.

"You have to understand how difficult this is to comprehend.

You expect us to take in the fact that an alien worked with us without our knowledge, gave us weaponry, and then disappeared.

Now, he's returning with his compatriots to save us from other aliens whom his people have no animosity towards and without a weapon that can defeat them.

It sounds like a science fiction novel," the president confided.

"What kind of alliance are you seeking in return for your aid?" the French president asked, ignoring the skepticism of his U.S. equal.

"Friendship, loyalty, trade, and the ability to remain unharmed by any of Earth's nations is our primary goal.

We would give you the same. Earth would never be attacked by us.

We would welcome your ships to Talonia when they need respite or a place to make repairs as they travel farther into space.

We would share our technology. We would defend your world and ask that you defend ours if needed.

Our governments would cooperate, yet remain separate, ruling in their own manner.

We can negotiate the exact points of the alliance after your enemies are vanquished," Hesher explained.

"How can you aid in defeating them if you have no new weapons to offer? We have the numbers it takes, just not the right weapon."

"Kelan did not say we had no weapon. He said it could not be manufactured.

You need fire, but its usual chemical makeup does not contain the correct element.

We have been listening to the discussions at Rankin World Defense, and we now know what is needed.

We are the weapon. We will spread ourselves over the Earth and reclaim it for mankind.

It is our gift to prove we are your allies," Hesher replied.

"You're the weapons? What exactly are you?"

Reluctantly, Hesher gave them the truth, "We are weredragons, and our fire contains the element you are seeking.

It will burn hot enough with the required chemical element to destroy the gas the aliens are made of.

They cannot hide from us. We can find them easily as their scent is vastly different than yours. "
