Chapter 77
RAFE TRU
Afew hours later, the front door slams open, instantly putting me on alert.
“Rafe Robert Tru,” Chason bellows.
“In here,” I call from the kitchen, surprised his emotions didn’t scream through our bond. Nyx has not been helpful in deciding what to make for dinner.
He stalks in, shaking legal documents I recognize from the bank. “Is there something you want to tell me?”
Our earlier conversation replays in my head, and I left something big out. “I may have spoken to local law enforcement about employment opportunities. I’m never willingly leaving you again.” Taking the offending documents from his hand, I set them on the counter.
“Wait. What?” Chason shakes his head. “One mind-blowing revelation at a time. Ask how I middle-named you?” His head angles down so I can’t get to his lips.
“I’m assuming you read it on the paperwork.” I gather him in my arms and exhale the relief of being near him.
“The paperwork to a fortune,” he shouts. “I just paid off the second mortgage on this house and have college debt. You can’t put me—”
I lift him off his feet, smashing our lips together. “What’s mine is yours,” I say against his mouth.
“Rafe, it’s too much. I’m not with you for money,” he cries.
Nyx yawns and leaves the room with her standard you’re-a-dumbass expression aimed at Chason.
“That’s good, since most of it is tied up in investments and not easily converted to cash. Besides, you had no idea.” I cuddle him, and he relaxes.
“I’ll drag your credit rating down into the sewer,” he blusters.
A laugh bursts from my chest, and I swing him around. “Do you really think that matters to me? I give exactly zero shits.” I support him under his ass and his legs hug my waist.
“Nobody gives zero shits about money.” He buries his face in my neck, tickling my stubble with his hair.
“True,” I concede. “But once you have enough for everything you need, it seems like more is excess. My pack doesn’t financially need it, and this is for us.”
“I didn’t know being a shifter could make you rich. My magic hasn’t produced wealth.” He rests his head on my shoulder to look at me.
“You share your magic instead of charging for it.” I set him on the counter and crowd between his legs. “As a stranger, you offered to scry for my sister, and payment was never negotiated. So, I assume you don’t charge anyone.”
“Ugh, is this what life will be like all the time? You’ll know everything about me, and there’ll be no surprises?” he huffs.
“I’ll give you a surprise.” I pick him up and carry him upstairs.
“Was that our first fight? Does this count as makeup sex?” Chason rids himself of his scrub top and flings it on the floor.
“Moonbeam, it can be anything you want.” I save time by stripping his pants off as I drop him on the bed.
“I like it when you call me that, lovebug.” He reaches for the lube.
“I’ll let that slide.” I grip his knees and push them apart. He’s hard and dripping for me.
“Less talking, more sliding,” he commands and coats my fingers so I can open him up. “Much better,” he says with a sly grin. “Good boy.”
I groan. “Call me that again, and I won’t be responsible for the ravishing you’ll get.”
“Ravishing? Am I a nineteenth-century damsel?” He bites his bottom lip as he undoes and tugs my pants down.
“I’m sorry. Should I say ‘fuck your ass so hard you won’t sit for a week’ instead?”
“Either. Both. Now.” He tips back on the bed, bringing me with him.
“I know we fucked this morning but I’ll explode if I don’t get inside you.” I scissor my fingers to stretch him properly.
“Me and the wolf might need to update the plan,” he says, arching up to meet my hand.
“What plan?” I suck a nipple into my mouth, tasting his sweet flesh.
“The plan where I’m always naked and within arm’s reach. I should have a plug in so no prep needed. Throw me in the dirt and fuck my brains out.”
A lustful growl vibrates between us. “Don’t think I won’t do it.” I push his knees to his chest and line myself up. “You, me, nature, and I’d breed you till dawn.”
“Mother-moon, if you could get me pregnant right now, I’d gladly have your child.” He shimmies to grab my ass and force me in deeper and faster. “Yessss,” he moans.
The heat of his body surrounds me, and our bond strengthens as I infuse all my love so he doesn’t have to wonder. So he’s as sure of me as I am of him.
“Rafe, please,” he begs. “Claim me, bite me, knot me, make me yours.”
I’m about to argue, but my love for him doubles, then quadruples and keeps multiplying as his love joins mine.
“I didn’t believe I’d know. But I do. I have to be yours. Now.”
“Moonbeam, you already are, but I’ll make it official when you come.” The way his ass flutters around me brings me straight to the edge.
I lied when I said I fucked him this morning. I made love to him, and it won’t ever be just sex between us. The physical pleasure pales in comparison to our emotional connection.
“You’ll never be alone again,” I promise as his body shakes with the effort to hold back.
“I’m so desperate, but I don’t want this to end.” Chason’s warm honey eyes are so beautiful, I could drown in them and not notice.
“We have the rest of our lives. Stroke yourself.” I lick the juncture of his shoulder and chest. “And I’ll mark you here.” My fangs descend, waiting for my mate.
“Rafe Fucking Robert Tru,” he screams my name as my teeth sink into him. The flicker of worry passes as I dismiss the fear that I’ve hurt him. Our bond opens as big as the night sky, and I’m bombarded with his love.
It binds us together in ancient, sacred magic. Our scents mix, leaving no doubt that he’s my mate and I’m his. Together we’re a combination of sweet citrus, earthy spice, and golden sunsets.
Perfection.
I lap at his skin, tending to the wound, but a wave of possessiveness prevents me from healing it. Chason moans, yanking my hair, exploring our mental connection, and using it as if we’ve been in sync for decades.
He pleads for my cum, and I fill him, my knot locking us in place. A deep sense of satisfaction, that has nothing to do with sex, settles into my being. He stretches impossibly wider for my knot, coming again, and I rub our torsos together, wanting his cum all over me.
“You are, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to me. I will spend the rest of my life groveling for your forgiveness for leaving you.” If I could go back and kick my own ass I would.
He’s worth everything. Any pain will be outmatched by this moment and the thousands more we’ll have together.
Chason clings to me, giddy and high and happier than he’s ever been. “I love you,” he whispers with a slight hesitation.
“I love you more than anything, forever.” Fated mating bonds grow stronger over time, but few shifters find their chosen one. It’s hard to feel deserving of Chason and our permanent connection.
“I’m going to spend the rest of my life proving my good boy deserves this.” He giggles and can’t stop. “I could tell you like being called a good boy, but dayyyummm, you luuuv it.”
“I do,” I grin like a fool in love. “I really do.”
