27. Dax #2
An agent held the front door open, and the moment a paramedic caught sight of us, they ran over.
Thankfully, it was a woman, so I handed Abby off to her.
“I have to finish up a few things, but I’ll come find you to check in on you, got it?
I’m not going to abandon you. I’ll make sure you get to where you need to be to get the help from what they did to you. ”
Abby’s eyes welled with tears as she nodded and let the paramedic take her to the ambulance.
One of the black SUVs had its doors open, and I spotted a jacket with FBI written on it so I grabbed it and slipped it on.
Clearly, I looked like hell, and it seemed wise to not remind the strong arm of the law that I’d just murdered a whole bunch of people in this building.
A group of agents with passed-out women came down the stairs, and I went back to the second floor.
This is where they were going to find everything they needed to lock these fuckers away for life.
Then once they did that, I could send out the word they needed to be taken care of, and they would never make it to the end of their sentence.
It was always good to keep friends who were doing a life sentence and didn’t matter if they got more time added.
I kept them comfortable and supplied with what they needed, and I got what I needed.
Pausing at the entrance, I held the door open for the agents leaving with passed-out women in their arms. When another group came out with the surviving Mad Dogs, I might have tripped and sent one of them tumbling down the stairs face first with his hands cuffed behind his back.
“Oops, sorry about that. Gotta watch where you’re going or who you fuck with. Wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you now, would we?” I said with a fake pout on my lips before turning on my sore heels and heading back into the abandoned building.
The woman—Egger, I think Cam called her—came charging up to me, her face clearly showing she was upset about something. “I should lock you up right here and now!”
My brows shot up in surprise. She was just figuring this out now. “Am I allowed to ask what exactly was the tipping point?”
“Oh, so gutting a body and leaving him all over the floor is normal? Or what about the other man you stabbed more than twenty times hard enough to have the blade get stuck in his chest? Not to mention all the other dead people bleeding out all over the place,” Egger spluttered, waving her arms. “In my eyes, you’re a killer, plain and simple, someone who has no regard for human life whatsoever. ”
“So… where does that leave the fact I did all this to make sure those women got out of here alive?” I countered, tipping my head to the side as she blinked at me. “Also fun fact, this whole place is rigged to blow up at any moment, but I did what I could to slow that down from happening.”
“What!” Egger screeched. “Why didn’t you say something sooner! We need to get everyone out of here and get the bomb squad in to make sure the place is safe before anyone else enters,” she ordered, calling out over the radio.
Rolling my eyes, I looked over at my guys who were walking back in after handing off the women they rescued.
“What crawled up her ass?” Cognac asked as he came up behind me, wrapping an arm around my shoulder while the other hung at his side.
Spinning in his hold, I grabbed his arm, and he jerked back with a hiss. “Fuck, loba, you gotta be gentle with me sometimes. I’m all for pain and pleasure, but there’s a limit, and I’m not getting any pleasure right now.”
Grabbing a knife from my hip, I cut away his sleeve and looked at his arm. The bullet had grazed him, cutting into the muscle but completely missed the bone which was good. “Seems like now might be the perfect time to head to the hospital since they want to clear the building.”
“Where do you think you’re going?!” Egger snapped, grabbing my arm.
Void growled, standing up to his full height as Wes and Sprocket backed him up, looking down at her with murder in their eyes.
“Egger, I really think it’s best to unhand Dax.
You see, her men don’t take kindly to anyone laying a hand on her in any manner that would be perceived as threatening, myself included.
So, let’s make it out of this without any more bloodshed,” Cam interjected, resting a hand on the woman’s shoulder.
My eyes narrowed at the contact, but when I met Cam’s gaze, his attention was already focused on me.
He didn’t give a shit about this woman but knew it would cause me more trouble if I killed her, so I let the contact slide.
“I’d listen to Cam. He’s the only one here right now who gives a shit whether you live or die. ”
With a gasp, she dropped her hand and let Cam pull her away from me before she turned to look at her fellow agent. “You said her men… all of them?”
“Yes, Dax has seven lovers. We share her and are absolutely devoted to her in all ways,” Cam explained.
“Now, we must go. One of her lovers is already in the hospital getting patched up, and it would seem some of us need attention as well.” With that being said, Cam brushed past her.
“I’ll drive. I know where they took him, and I’ve also given word to bring back all the bikes to the field office in town so we can gather them all from one place. ”
“Don’t get blown up,” I said, giving Egger a cheeky smile and wiggled my fingers in a friendly wave as we left, relishing the look of bewilderment on her face. That look will never get old.
