DAX

Void dumped me on Eagle’s bed and started to unwrap the towel from my body. He peeled off my shirt, ripped the last of my underwear off, and started to dry me. When he got to my legs, he looked up at me with hunger in his eyes, knowing whose cum was still leaking out of me.

“Even he couldn’t fuck the temper out of you, I see,” Void mused. “Are you still hungry? You’ve hardly eaten all day.”

“Are you treating me like a toddler trying to find out what I need so I stop crying?” I asked, trying to hold back my laughter.

Void eyed me wearily before he nodded. “You’ve killed, had sex, had some food, and I know you won’t sleep, so I was trying to see what other options there were.”

“God, I fucking love you,” I blurted as I grabbed his face and yanked him down to kiss me.

While Void was one scary motherfucker, the beast who lived inside him purred for me.

He was right when he called us soul mates because I don’t think there was another person on this earth who could possibly be as perfect as he was.

If I were being honest, I would say that about all of them.

None of them were perfect, but together, they filled in where another lacked, and it took all seven of them to keep my insane ass alive.

Void’s large hands wrapped around my ribs, holding me still as we devoured each other.

Sure, we’d already had sex on the battlefield earlier today, but I’m not sure I’d ever get enough of these men.

Eventually, he pulled back with a quick sweet kiss on my lips before he resumed drying me off and cleaning up the mess Cognac left behind.

No one could ever argue these men weren’t secure in themselves when one was cleaning up another man’s cum from between my legs.

“Ice cream,” he announced.

“What?” I asked, not following his train of thought.

“You need ice cream and cuddles.”

His suggestion had me perking up. “Does Eagle allow ice cream in this house? I know how he feels about junk food and things that aren’t made from scratch.”

Void gave me a toothy grin. “Our beloved president has a large soft spot for frozen milk flavored with pecans.”

“Of course, he would like the grandpa flavor,” I muttered. “Got something else to offer?”

“My personal favorite would be death by chocolate, and I know for a fact there is a tub of it in the freezer,” he shared.

“Yup, you are absolutely getting a blow job later,” I assured him as I rolled off the bed and grabbed a pair of Eagle’s boxers.

If they were going to keep ripping my underwear, then I was going to start wearing theirs instead.

Slipping one of his T-shirts on, I was comforted by the smell of him still attached to it.

It was then I realized part of my agitation was the fact that he wasn’t here with us and that I had to leave him behind in Vegas.

“Can I have your cell to call Eagle?” I asked.

“Of course, you can, little demon,” he said, offering it to me. “Do you want me to stay, or would you rather talk to him alone?”

“I’ll come out after I’m done talking to him. We all know he’ll want a report from Picasso, the control freak that he is,” I answered.

Dropping a kiss on my head, he left me to curl up in Eagle’s chair, and I dialed his phone. I wasn’t sure he had it, but it was worth a shot. If he didn’t answer, then I would call Dani and have her hand it over.

“It’s about goddamn time you called, you ugly bastard.” Eagle snarled into the phone.

I couldn’t help but snort at that. “If that’s how you talk to him on the phone, it’s a wonder he calls you ever.”

“Little hellcat.” He purred into the phone. “Fuck, I miss you.”

“It’s only been a few hours since I saw you, and you’re not the one who believed you might be dead for half the day,” I shot back.

“Dax,” Eagle countered in a knowing voice. “What happened?”

“What didn’t happen,” I grumbled. “The guys are pissed at me, you’re in the hospital, the FBI is here passing judgment, and I just can’t deal with it all right now.”

“In other words, you hit your limit on shit you can handle all on your own,” Eagle stated, making me cringe at how right he was.

Kicking my feet over the armrest, I leaned into the back of the chair.

“I don’t like them mad at me, and I don’t know how to fix it.

Well, okay, Cognac basically told me how, but he makes it sound so simple.

You understand, as leaders, we do what is best for our people regardless of how they will feel about it later because they’re still alive to bitch about it. ”

“Well, I’ll be damned, is Two Tricks coming to me for advice on how to deal with people?” Eagle teased.

“No, your wife is,” I shot back, then paused, realizing that I actually liked saying that.

“Yup, I’m gonna need to make that happen really quick because fuck, do I love the sound of that coming out of your mouth, little hellcat,” Eagle commented to himself.

“Enzo,” I warned.

“Hey, now, no name calling,” Eagle shot back. “Tell me everything from the moment you got taken, and I’ll see what advice I can offer when it comes to the guys.”

So that’s exactly what I did, explaining how I took out Mastiff, the drugged girls, then the bomb.

“Back up one sec,” Eagle cut in. “Did you just say that you took an ax to an electrical panel wiring?”

Rubbing my forehead, knowing this was gonna go downhill, I nodded as I answered, “Yeah, that’s what I did.”

“Of course you did. Then what?” Eagle acknowledged and moved on.

Next, I covered the guys and the FBI showing up, dealing with the women, going to see him, and taking the helicopter to the compound.

He was oddly quiet after I shared my epic takedown of the machine gun on the back of the truck, not at all as impressed as I was.

Then there was the live-action laser tag with Void.

I shared about Pinky being a mole but left out the fact his nephew was part of this too.

That was Picasso’s deal once we got Eagle back home.

“Now the FBI is here to deal with the litter of dead bodies. I suggested we just burn the bastards, but Cam said that would cause more problems,” I finished with a sigh. “So what do I do? How do I make them stop being mad at me?”

“You’re absolutely not going to like it,” he responded.

Sitting up, I swung my feet forward and leaned my elbows on my knees. “Just tell me.”

“Part of why you’re feeling the way you are right now is because I’m here in a hospital after you thought I was dead.

My guess is you want to be near me as much as I want to have you wrapped up in my arms,” he explained.

“This is how the guys feel right now with how many death-defying moments you’ve had.

All they want is to keep you in their sights so they know, without a doubt, you’re alright.

Give them a day or two to calm down. I’m sure the grounding won’t stick.

They know you’ll never let that stand, but giving into it even for a short while will show how much you care and respect their feelings. ”

I groaned. “God, everyone is getting all Dr. Phil on me tonight. I get what you’re saying, though. Today has been a lot for us all, and the day just won’t end.”

“Promise me you will get some sleep. The doctors said if I’m as stable as I have been, they’ll let me go home since we have Dani looking after me,” Eagle informed me. “You should see that woman in action. She is kinda scary when she gets all boss-ass nurse on your ass.”

“Tell me about it. That’s why I hired her,” I agreed. “I’m assuming you want to talk to Picasso?”

“Nah, you gave me the four-one-one, and my pain meds just kicked in, so I’m gonna be useless in about five minutes. Get some sleep, hellcat. You’ve done good, and I love you,” Eagle reassured.

“Love you too,” I whispered back before hanging up.

Running my hands through my hair, I got to my feet, and prepared to deal with whatever was still going on with the FBI.

When I went back out to the kitchen, there was no one there.

The plates were left on the counters where they were eating, so I assumed they’d be coming back.

I heard voices on the porch, so I opened the front door to find them all at the foot of the stairs pointing out an area on a map for the agents.

“We’ll have a team head out there with flood lights now and start tagging bodies. I don’t want to leave them for the animals or the heat of the day to start them rotting,” Agent Egger said, her face scrunched in disgust.

Cognac used a red marker to draw around an area.

“The land mines are here, here, and over here. They knew just where to hit us because it’s not a large gap, but we needed a space to be able to evacuate if other options were cut off.

Just take care of the bodies and let us move everything else.

A bunch of them ended up in the minefield. ”

“Are all you people out of your mind?” another agent asked. “Why would you even need to have a minefield in the first place?”

I snorted. “Really, that is a stupid question since you’re cleaning up the attack we’d been prepared for. Being on the defensive means careful planning to ensure when shit goes down, you're not caught unaware. Or did they not teach you that sort of thing at Quantico?”

“Little demon, you can come out here if you’re going to play nice. If not, go back inside,” Void warned, giving me a look that told me he wasn’t playing around.

Remembering Eagle’s advice, I sighed and went back into the house to let the others deal with things. If they felt it was best for me to stay out of the situation, then I’d just find some other way to occupy myself.

“Honey child, what’s got you all glum?” Dante asked, coming down the stairs and adjusting his teal-colored suit.
