Chapter 31

CAL

“Thank you for doing this on such short notice,” Asher Cross says, shaking each of our hands. “My sister loves you guys.”

“I’m just glad we could fit you into the tour schedule,” I tell him.

Asher laughs, and it’s that deep kind of chuckle that real men have. Not that I’m not a real man, but my laugh definitely doesn’t sound like that. The man is huge. He matches me in height, which few people do. His hair is light brown with that messy on purpose look to it. His eyes are gray and always seem to be assessing.

Everything about him looks expensive. He’s in jeans and a white button down that he’s rolled at the sleeves, but I’d bet my house that he didn’t buy any of it from Target. I can see why Harlow thinks he’s attractive.

I’m telling her he looks like a troll in person. Smells like one too.

“My assistant confirmed the set with yours. Once that’s done, you’re free to stay for the rest of the party or you can leave. It’s up to you,” Asher says, putting his hands in his pockets, making him look like a model. That’s annoying.

“I’m taking my girl out after. My dad has our daughter for the night,” I tell him. No idea why. Maybe I wanted him to know I have a girl and he can’t have her?

Belle snorts next to me. “Smooth,” she says under her breath.

Asher raises his brow. “I’d love to comp a room here for you.”

“Oh. That would be great, actually,” I say, feeling bad for acting like a jealous idiot.

Asher nods. “Stop at the desk on your way out. I’ll have everything set for you.”

“Thanks, man.”

Asher says his goodbyes. Something in his demeanor seems . . . sad?

Goes to show money doesn’t buy happiness, I guess.

“Nate, you good?” I ask our tour manager. He’s busy directing the crew that’s getting our equipment back on the truck. The show went well. It was really easy for what we made doing it. The ballroom of the hotel was packed with college-age kids in short dresses and tight shirts.

“I’m good, Cal,” Nate responds, not even bothering to look my way as he directs the guy holding an armful of cords.

I rush out of the room, which luckily had a stage and a small area behind it with a door that leads directly to the hallway. I didn’t want to fight my way through the crowd.

“Cal.”

I stop in my tracks. “Firecracker,” I say, running to her and scooping her into my arms. She laughs as she snuggles into my neck. “What are you doing here?”

“Jo texted me and told me to meet you in the lobby,” she says, pointing to the front desk.

“Remind me to thank her later,” I say against Harlow’s lips. A throat clears, and we break apart. I look over my shoulder to see the front desk attendant waiting for us.

“Sorry,” I say, not the least bit sorry. “Asher said he has a room reserved for me. Callahan Griffin.”

“Of course.” He types something into the computer and then grabs a set of key cards. “Here are the keys to the Honeymoon Suite.”

I give him a questioning look just as Asher walks by, winking at me.

Okay, maybe I actually like this guy.

“Take the elevator to the thirtieth floor. Your room is the last one on the left. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Griffin.”

“Thanks, uh,” I look at the man’s name tag. “Simon.”

Harlow is looking at me with confusion. I just shrug and pull her along, following the directions Simon gave me. Her laugh is infectious as she tries to keep up with me.

The elevator ride is the longest of my life. “Why the fuck are there so many floors?”

Harlow laughs and pushes her back into my front. We’re huddled into a corner waiting for the bachelorette party to get off. Of course, they’re on the twenty-first floor.

I watch the red numbers climb. We’re in the teens now.

Almost there.

Harlow pushes back into me, her ass grinding against my semi-hard dick.

“Don’t tease me,” I whisper into her ear, giving it a little nip.

“It’s not teasing, it’s foreplay,” she says with a smile so blinding I almost drop to my knees.

Fuck. I love her. I love every single thing about her. I love the way she teases me, the way she looks at me, the way she loves me.

The elevator door opens, letting the party off and leaving us alone.

“Do something wild with me?” I ask Harlow.

She looks at me, her head cocked to the side. “Okay.”

I hit the button for the lobby and wait patiently to take Harlow on the adventure of her life.
