Chapter - 87
Everything was ready. I had planned Siya's birthday down to the smallest detail.
I wanted to give her what she had missed after Mumma and Papa.
I knew I couldn't give her seventeen years of happiness in one day, but I would try to make every moment count.
I wanted her to remember them with a smile today, not tears.
I had checked everything myself. Decorations, lights, gifts... every detail. Nothing could go wrong. Nothing would come between her happiness today.
I glanced at the clock. 11:55 PM. Perfect.
I walked to my room and saw my angel sleeping peacefully. My heart softened. She looked so innocent, so perfect. I sat on the bed beside her, brushing my hand gently through her hair.
"Siya... baby... wake up," I said softly.
She stirred, but held my hand. "I want to sleep more, Avi. Please... let me sleep."
If it were any other day, I would have let her rest. But today... today I had only twenty-four hours to fill seventeen years of lost happiness. I pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.
"Baby... wake up. I have a surprise for you."
Her eyes blinked open. She rubbed them and looked around, still sleepy. "Surprise? Where? Avi... where is the surprise?"
God... she was too cute. I wanted to kiss her so badly right then, but there was no time. I stood up, holding her hand.
"Come," I said, my voice firm but teasing. "I'll show you."
I led her to the terrace, her tiny hand in mine. I stopped for a moment and gently tied a blindfold over her eyes.
When we reached the spot, I whispered softly, "Get ready, Baby..."
Then, at the same time, I removed the blindfold and said, "Happy birthday, Rani Sa!"
Her eyes widened. She gasps, and I can see her lips forming a small, stunned smile.
This... this is her happiness. This smile. This moment... I'll protect it with my life.
The moment Avi opened my blindfold and whispered, "Happy Birthday, Rani sa," I froze. My eyes widened at the sight in front of me.
The terrace was glowing like a dream—flowers everywhere, fairy lights twinkling like stars, candles dancing softly in the wind. In the middle of the table stood a cake, and right beside it... a framed picture of Mom and Dad.
My chest tightened, and tears filled my eyes instantly. But today... they weren't sad tears. They were warm, happy tears. For the first time in so many years, my birthday felt like... mine.
I turned to Avi, my voice trembling.
"Avi... this... this is... oh my God... you did all this?"
He looked at me, his usual coldness gone, replaced by a softness that made my heart ache.
"Of course. You deserve all the happiness in the world, Siya... every birthday you missed, every wish you ever had. Tonight, every candle, every flower, every gift, every smile—it's all for you."
I shook my head, overwhelmed.
"Avi... I... I don't know what to say..."
He stepped closer, brushing away a tear from my cheek with his thumb.
"You don't have to say anything, baby. Just enjoy it. That's all I want."
Before I could even breathe properly, he held my hand and led me to the table where the cake was waiting. His grip was firm yet gentle, and I felt safe... as if nothing in the world could touch me as long as he was beside me.
Suddenly, more lights turned on. My heart jumped when I saw everyone—Dadi maa, Maa, Papa, Chachu, Chachi, Arjun Bhaiya—all smiling at me.
Together, they said, "Happy Birthday, Siya beta... happy birthday, bhabhi."
I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands. For a second, I didn't know whether to smile, cry, or just stand frozen.
I quickly wiped my tears and whispered softly, "Thank you... thank you so much, everyone..."
Dadi maa stepped forward with that loving smile of hers.
"Come, beta. Let's cut the cake."
I nodded shyly, stepping forward. My hands reached out for the knife, but before I could touch it, a voice came from behind.
"The celebration is incomplete without me!"
I turned quickly. My heart jumped.
"Anaya..."
She was standing there, eyes sparkling, and the next moment she ran towards me. She hugged me tightly.
"Happy birthday, bhabhi!" she said, her voice full of excitement.
I hugged her back, smiling through my tears. "Thank you, Anaya..."
With Avi by my side, I finally cut the cake. Everyone sang Happy Birthday for me... even Avi. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard his deep voice joining in with everyone else. I laughed softly, shaking my head. Who would've thought?
After the cake cutting, they all said they would give me my birthday gifts in the morning. We took so many pictures together. Everyone hugged me, blessed me, and wished me again before leaving one by one.
And through it all... my heart whispered the same thought again and again—
I never thought I would feel this much love in one night.
After everyone left, the terrace suddenly felt quiet... but my heart was still beating fast. I thought the night had ended, but Avi bent down and pulled out a box from under the table. It was a little big, wrapped so neatly. He placed it in front of me, his eyes watching mine.
"This is for you," he said. "Open it."
My heart skipped a beat. A gift? For me?
I slowly sat down and began untying the ribbon, my fingers shaking with excitement.
I had never really opened a birthday gift before.
Whenever I did get something, taiji always took it away.
But today... today was different. These gifts would stay with me. No one could snatch them away.
When I opened the box, I froze. Inside was a big baby pink teddy bear. My eyes instantly filled with tears. I picked up the little note kept with it.
Every little girl should have a teddy to hug at night. But now you have me, so you don't need it. Still... a six-year-old Siya needed one. So here I am, giving it to you now.
I bit my lip, hugging the teddy tightly. My chest felt heavy as memories flashed in my mind—my sixth birthday, sitting alone, wishing for someone to remember me. I whispered, my voice breaking, "I was so alone back then..."
Before I could say anything more, Avi wrapped his arms around me from behind, pulling me close against his chest. His voice was deep, steady, yet gentle.
"You are not alone now, baby. And you will never be. You'll always find me beside you."
I closed my eyes, letting the warmth of his embrace wash over me. For the first time in years, I believed those words.
Avi then lifted me up in his arms without a warning. "Avi..." I gasped, but he didn't listen. He carried me straight to our room, as if I weighed nothing, and gently made me sit on the bed. My teddy was still in my arms.
Then he brought out four more boxes, placing them in front of me one by one.
"Open them," he ordered softly.
I nodded, my hands trembling again. I opened the first box—and inside was a beautiful storybook collection. A note rested on top.
From now on, your story will always have a happy ending, because I'm in it with you.
I pressed the note to my chest, tears blurring my eyes. "Avi..." I whispered, but words refused to come.
The second box had a set of art supplies—paints, brushes, everything I ever wished for as a child. Another note.
Paint your world any way you want, and I'll make it real.
I looked at him, overwhelmed. "Do you really mean it?"
He smirked slightly, brushing his thumb across my cheek. "Have I ever said something I don't mean?"
I smiled weakly, nodding.
The third box made me pause. A delicate tiara shimmered inside. I touched it carefully, afraid it might break under my fingers. The note said—
You may be your parents' princess, but you are my queen.
My throat tightened again. I looked at Avi. He was just watching me silently, as if my every reaction mattered to him more than anything.
And then I opened the last box. Inside lay a pair of anklets... a payal. They sparkled softly under the room's light. My heart clenched before I even read the note.
When you were 10, maybe no one noticed your steps... but from now on, every step you take, I will hear it, I will feel it. You'll never walk alone again, Siya.
I couldn't stop the tears anymore. They rolled down freely, but for once, they weren't because of pain. They were because... someone saw me. Someone remembered every birthday, every year, every wish I had buried deep inside.
I hugged Avi tightly, burying my face in his chest. "Thank you... thank you for everything. I don't deserve this much, Avi."
He held me even tighter, his voice rough yet tender. "You deserve all this and more, Siya. You deserve the whole world. And I'll spend my whole life proving it."
And in that moment, I realized—
This was the first birthday of my life... where I felt complete.
I felt Avi's hand in my hair, warm and comforting, as his soft voice whispered, "Good morning, Angel."
For a moment, I just stayed there, eyes closed, savoring it. And then I remembered—today is my birthday. Slowly, I opened my eyes, and there he was, smiling down at me. My heart skipped a beat.
He leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss on my forehead. "Happy birthday, baby."
I didn't even think. I just hugged him tightly. My whole heart whispered a prayer of gratitude—Shivji, thank you... you gave me him as a gift. I don't need anything else today.
He pulled back slightly, smiling softly. "Here... your bed tea, baby."
I took the cup from him and sipped, feeling the warmth spread through me. We drank together quietly, just sitting there. The peace... it felt so perfect.
After tea, he said, "I've picked your outfit for today. Wear it. Come downstairs. Breakfast is almost ready. Everyone's waiting."
He kissed my forehead again and left the room. My cheeks burned as I watched him go.
I got out of bed and went to the closet. A neatly wrapped packet of clothes and jewelry was waiting for me. My hands trembled a little as I opened it.
After my shower, I wore the mauve-golden silk saree with a maroon border and the embroidered blouse. Gold bangles jingled softly on my wrists, and the matching necklace... I felt beautiful but also nervous, shy... like all eyes would be on me.
Then I noticed the boxes arranged beside the clothes. I opened them one by one.
The first and second box held a diary and a pen. I smiled softly. So I can write my thoughts... my dreams... maybe for the first time without hiding them.
The next had a music box. I wound it, and soft, gentle notes filled the room. My eyes glistened.
A sketchbook was next. My fingers lingered on the smooth pages, imagining the drawings I could make. Each gift felt like a piece of care, a piece of love.
And finally... a charm bracelet. I picked it up carefully, my fingers trembling. Tiny charms dangled—a delicate feather, an angel, a tiny payal, a miniature photo of my parents, and a little heart.
A note was attached: "Every charm is a piece of your story, Siya... and the most important one has your parents' love at its heart. Wear it, and remember... you're my angel, always."
I pressed the bracelet to my chest, tears filling my eyes. Every little piece... it's for me. All of it... for me.
My day had just started, and already my heart felt so full. I thought of all the birthdays I had missed, all the gifts I never got, all the little wishes I had whispered quietly to myself. And here he was—giving them to me now, making up for everything.
I hugged the bracelet tightly, feeling his love and my parents' love wrapped into one. My chest ached with happiness. My eyes closed, and I whispered softly to myself, I... I am truly loved. And today... today is perfect.
Breakfast today was different... special. Avi sat with us, joining in our chatter and laughter. I couldn't help but notice how he made all my favorite food—my heart felt so full seeing him care so much. Every bite, every smile, felt like a little blessing.
After breakfast, Avi held my hand, and we went to the temple. Together, we did the pooja, taking blessings from Shivji. I felt calm and safe with him beside me. When he distributed the sweets, I couldn't help but smile. Seeing him care for everyone like this... it made my heart swell even more.
Next, he took me to the HOPE Orphanage. As soon as we arrived, everyone came running, wishing me a happy birthday Rani sa.
Their smiles, their cheers... I felt so much love at once.
Avi asked the staff to distribute gifts to everyone, and I watched as Pari shyly took sweets from me this time.
It was small, but it felt like a big step.
After spending some time with everyone, one of his men handed him a packet.
He gave it to me and said, "Change in the office washroom.
" I was a little nervous, but I didn't question him.
I took it and changed into a flowy floral maxi dress with delicate shoulder straps and a fitted bodice. When I came out, Avi's eyes lit up.
"You look... breathtaking," he said softly, making my cheeks flush.
He led me to a restaurant that was decorated beautifully for lunch.
Flowers, lights, soft music... it felt like a dream.
We ate together, laughed, danced a little, and then he handed me two small boxes.
Inside were a necklace and earrings, each with a note.
My fingers trembled as I read them, feeling every word deeply.
After lunch, he took me to my parents' house.
It looked... cleaner, brighter, yet still the same garden I remembered from my childhood.
Memories of my parents came rushing back, and I shared them with Avi, my voice soft and a little shaky.
He listened quietly, holding my hand, letting me relive every precious moment.
Then he handed me three more boxes. I opened them one by one, my heart beating fast. The last box... a travel journal. I opened the note inside:
"For all the places we'll go together, Siya. Every memory we create, every adventure we take—let this be the beginning of them all."
I held the journal close to my chest, tears pricking my eyes. Every adventure... every memory... with him.
Avi cupped my face gently, his thumb brushing my cheek. "Every step of the way, baby. I'll be there. Always."
I rested my head on his chest, closing my eyes. My heart felt so full, so warm... I had never felt this kind of love before. And even though I was shy, even though I sometimes overthink everything... with him, everything felt simple. Perfect. Safe. Complete.
This birthday... today... it's everything I ever wished for and more.
Then his phone rang. I heard him speak for a moment, and in just two minutes, a beautician arrived. Avi gently cupped my face and said, "Baby, get ready in the outfit I picked for you.I'll be waiting."
I nodded, my heart beating a little faster. I went to my room with them and got ready. The golden embroidered saree with the matching blouse felt... magical against my skin, and the statement gold jewelry made me feel elegant yet like myself. When they left, I took a deep breath and stepped out.
Avi was standing there, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. He didn't say anything at first, just looked... and my heart thudded in my chest. Then he broke into a small smile and whispered, "You look... perfect, Siya."
Before I could reply, he leaned forward and kissed my forehead softly. "Absolutely perfect and mine," he added.
He held my hand and led me to the car. On the seat, there was a small box. My hands trembled slightly as I opened it. Inside was a handmade photo album.
My eyes widened as I turned the pages. There were pictures of me with my parents... memories frozen in time... and then pictures of Avi and me together. My chest tightened. The note inside made my eyes water:
"For the memories you had... and the memories we're going to make together. Every step of the way, I'm with you, Siya."
I hugged the album to my chest, feeling my heart overflow.
Before I could finish looking at it, the car arrived at the Rathore Palace.
But it was completely different from the one we left this morning.
Lights, flowers, delicate decorations...
it looked dreamy, like something out of a fairytale.
My eyes widened, and I whispered, "Avi. .. it's... it's beautiful..."
He smiled softly, squeezing my hand gently. "Just for you, baby. My queen's first real birthday celebration. Every little thing... for you."
I felt my heart pounding, overwhelmed by love, gratitude, and a little disbelief. I had never imagined a day like this... a day where I felt truly seen, truly loved... truly happy.
All my birthdays, all the years I missed—it's here now. Perfect.
