Chapter 11 - Riley #2

Her eyebrows went up. “Uhmm...okay...well...let me think. You probably know almost everything about me.” She ran her fingers over the grain on the table. “How about you start. Maybe it will give me an idea.”

“Okay, I was in the chess club in high school.”

Her eyes widened. “You were?”

I nodded. “Not my choice, of course. My dad made me join. I hated it, but went. I met some pretty neat people and learned a lot when I was in it.”

She smirked. “I have a hard time imagining that.”

“It’s true. Now you.”

“Okay, when I moved to the city, I was living in my car for a while.”

I felt my heart stop beating, and my jaw dropped. I stared at her, waiting for her to say it was a joke, but she didn’t. She sounded so casual about it. Like it was her telling me her favorite color was orange. “You're joking?”

She shook her head. “No, I was. I didn’t have money for a place to stay, so I just stayed in my car.”

“Why? Did your parents know about that?”

She shook her head. “No. I didn't tell anyone. I didn't want them to know.”

I frowned, feeling my stomach twisting up again. “Was it really that bad?” I knew she said I’d made her life a living hell, but…to leave and stay in her car?

She gave me a look. “Riley, you were one of my bullies. You and plenty of others didn’t make my life easy.

I always knew deep down I didn’t belong.

” She ran a hand through her hair. “The idea that I forced my magic down makes sense. Forcing my emotions and making myself feel small was the only way I knew how to survive.”

I felt sick.. I hated that I’d been part of the problem. I lead the group that made her life so difficult. And here I was once more screwing it all up for her.

I wet my lips. “I'm sorry about everything. I wish I had handled things a little differently.”

“It's okay.”

“It's not.” I offered her a tight smile. “And I'm sorry. I was an ass growing up.”

She gave me a gentle smile. “Well, thank you for the apology.”

We continued to chat, where Janella explained she tried to take piano lessons and failed because she had too small hands. She laughed when I told her I tried to take motorcycle lessons. I found myself leaning forward in my chair, eager to hear more about her.

We both liked the same music, which surprised me. She loved sad movies and couldn’t believe that I enjoyed documentaries. There was a lot that we didn’t know about each other. A lot we still had to learn.

After we finished eating, I packed away the leftovers. She sat at the island working on another glass of wine. She chuckled as she watched me. “I thought you said you didn't know how to cook.”

“I don't. The food was just warming in the oven when you got here.”

She giggled, and I could see the way her eyes shifted, unable to focus. I walked over, grabbing her glass. “And I think you're cut off.” Maybe drinking was a bad idea.

She grabbed at my shirt. “I'm not drunk if you think I am.”

I pulled her closer and could smell the wine on her breath. But her eyes suddenly sharpened, and I could smell that sweetness of her magic.

I reached up, cupping the back of her head, and leaned closer. I could hear her voice hitch as I pressed her body flat against mine. “You sure?”

She nodded. “Oh, I'm sure.”

I kissed her roughly. She moaned, and it echoed around the kitchen. I grabbed her hips, pulling her a few steps back, and placed her on the table. I could hear the dishes moving, and the sound of something spilled, but I ignored it.

She tasted like the wine and the sweetness. I cupped the back of her head, tilting it up. Her mouth popped further open, and I devoured her. Her moan grew louder as I tasted her, my tongue sliding over hers.

I grabbed her hips and stepped between them into her space. I grabbed her dress and hiked it up. Her skin felt smooth under my hand, and I tightened my hold, pressing her further onto the table.

Her legs hooked around my hips, and we broke the kiss. She was panting for air, her eyes looking hazy as she stared at me. I pulled my hand, rubbing my thumb over her lip. “You taste like the wine.”

She swallowed as I moved my hand down, sliding my thumb down her throat to her neck. I ran my thumb along her collarbone and towards the straps of her dress. I slid one down and unbuttoned one of the three buttons on her dress.

Her eyes remained locked on mine as I started the second, then the third. I let the dress fall lower, the fabric falling off her breast.

I inhaled as I took in the sight of her bare. Janella had a thin frame, but she had the perfect breasts to match her. They were perky, and her nipples were a dark pink. I dipped my head, sliding my tongue over them.

“Oh god,” her head tipped back, and her hips tightened against my hips. I smirked, seeing how sensitive she was.

I grabbed her breast, massaging as I sucked harder on her nipple. Her legs shook, and I could hear her panting.

I yanked at her dress, sliding my other hand between her legs. I found she’d already soaked her underwear. I could smell her, and fuck, it was giving me a hard-on.

I slid her underwear aside and slid two fingers into her. Janella’s hands grabbed at my back, her nails scratching down my back. It took everything in me not to move faster. I felt the way she tightened around my fingers, and I could only imagine how it would feel around my dick.

But if we really wanted this to work, I don’t think it was just about sex. I think she needed to feel the opposite of everything she’d been feeling for years. Last night when she came, she dropped all of her problems, and her mind was focused on one thing. It needed to be like that.
