Chapter Seven
Vivien
“You look wonderful,” I blurt out when Caleb steps into the bathroom as I finish up my makeup.
He’s in his nice blue suit that goes perfectly with his eyes, looking too sexy to be walking down the aisle with anyone else.
I’m a little bit jealous. Granted, it’s probably about twenty steps or so and it’ll be over before I know it, but it’s not the point.
A girl can’t help herself when she just finally got the man of her dreams after all this time.
“And you look insanely stunning. There are no words for how beautiful you are, Vivien,” Caleb states, staring at me with such conviction in his blue eyes that I don’t doubt a word he’s saying. “An absolute goddess.”
“Thank you.” Since all the bridesmaids are going to be in beachy pink, I opted for a pale blue chiffon dress with thin straps and some heavy silver costume jewelry to accent, with some matching strappy sandals.
My long red hair is braided and rolled into a round bun with loose, curled strands framing my face.
“I hate that I have to leave you even for just a short time.”
“It’s fine. We’ll see each other soon. After all, I’ll be down and watching.”
“You promise?” Does he really believe I won’t be there?
“Of course. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than with you, Caleb. Now, go on before Sam chickens out.” I try to shoo him out of the bathroom with my hands on his back, pushing him, but he doesn’t budge.
“Yeah, like that shit would ever happen.” Caleb laughs and turns for a kiss before he leaves the bathroom.
I step out to the bathroom door frame and say, “You’ve got a point. The man is obsessed when it comes to her.”
He takes his room key, phone, and wallet, tucking them into his pockets before heading toward the door. He’s just about there when he turns back. “I need another kiss.”
“Okay. This is the last one because I’ll have to reapply my lipstick with the way you’re at it.”
“Isn’t it an all-day kind of lipstick?” he asks, having picked it up earlier to check it out while I was getting ready. He’s a bit curious about all my things. Honestly, he hasn’t left my side much this morning, as if he’s afraid I’ll cut and run.
After everything, I suppose maybe I should, but he has no idea that my feelings are the same as his. I didn’t have some major declaration to share because I couldn’t just say it, but I surrendered my innocence, put my future in his hands, and I think that should say it all.
“Not with your efforts,” I answer, tapping my hand on his cheek.
“Touché, my dear. Touché.” He brings my palm to his lips and kisses it.
“You need to be leaving. The wedding starts soon, and you have to meet the groomsmen.”
“You aren’t going to leave, are you?”
“I knew it. No, Caleb. I’ll be waiting. Besides, I’d have to find a cab or something to get me all the way back to the mainland, and that’s a lot of hassle. If I was going to ditch you, I’d at least wait until we returned to Miami.”
“That’s going to get your ass tied to my bed when we get home.” He grabs my wrists and locks them behind my back as he pins me with his body against the bathroom sink. “Vivien,” Caleb sighs, voice cracking as his nose presses against my throat. “I can’t let you go. I need you.”
I feel his length against my pussy and I know he’s talking about more than sex, but he’s hitting my greedy, newly experienced bits at the right angle and I want more.
“I need you too,” I moan, rolling my head back, giving him more access to my neck.
He lifts me onto the granite vanity, shoving my dress up.
Quickly he frees his cock from his dress pants and lines his cock up with my hole, pushing my panties to the side, and then he roughly slams home.
“Is this what you need?” he asks, rocking into me, fucking me deep as he holds my wrists behind my back.
“Yes, Caleb. Don’t stop.”
“I’m not. You’re mine. I’m never letting you go. Do you understand that? You’re my obsession, my adoration. I live for you. I love you, Vivien.”
“I love you too, Caleb,” I cry out. My orgasm hits me hard.
My legs flex and I squeeze them around his waist as my body trembles.
He pumps quicker, and with a roar, he fills me with his seed.
We haven’t spoken about protection, but we’re both biologists.
There’s no doubt we’re taking a big risk of putting a baby inside of me.
He stays like that for a moment and then pulls out and adjusts my panties, patting them in place. “Need to keep my seed where it belongs. And yes, I’m trying to put a son inside of you. Even our own little mermaid would be perfect as well.”
“Why do you call me mermaid?”
“Well, because the first day you stepped into the lab you had on a top that said, ‘Born to be a Mermaid’ in bright pink mermaid scales. I knew from looking at you that it was true.”
“But I came to the lab in a dress shirt and slacks the day we met.”
“Yes, but you toured it the summer before the new semester started.” A gasp fell from my lips.
“I was leaving on another research assignment, and I hoped and dreaded that you picked our lab to do your intern…” I crushed my mouth to his, kissing him so deeply we nearly stumbled in the bathroom.
A light laugh falls from my lips as a hearty rumble comes from his chest. “I love you so much that I want a life and family with you.”
We kiss one more time before we break apart to get ready. He fixes his dress shirt and zippers his pants before he washes his hands. I sit on the countertop silently because I don’t know how to respond to the fact that he wants the same thing.
I’m about to speak, but I’m interrupted by someone knocking on our hotel room door. “See, I told you you’re running behind. They’re going to drag you out by your ear.”
“Making you scream my name is worth it.” He kisses me hard before pulling back to answer the continuous pounding.
“I’m coming. Hold your horses.”
I hop off the sink and wash my hands and try to make myself look presentable just in case the person comes into the room.
A minute later, Caleb comes into the bathroom. “Love, I have to go down now, but my mom’s here and she wants to apologize for yesterday.”
“Apologize?”
“Yes. Just listen and please don’t run. I told her to behave. You are the two most important women in my whole world.”
“Don’t worry about us. Go on. I’m sure we’ll be fine.”
He kisses me once more and I can feel the fear in his goodbye, but I won’t let her push us apart. I step out into the little sitting room, and she’s got a look of contrition on her face that takes me by surprise.
“Vivien, please have a seat.” I do, because frankly I need it.
Caleb made my legs a little weak. “First, I wanted to apologize for my behavior yesterday. It was wrong and not like me. I should have handled myself better, but after hearing you mention finding a replacement for my son at the spa, I freaked out.”
“Oh my goodness. I didn’t think….”
“Yes, that you were talking to anyone in the family. I learned from Caleb that it was all his stupid idea to make you his fake girlfriend.”
“I only heard about the wedding when he was on the phone with you and he mentioned having a girlfriend to bring. Honestly, when he asked me to do this, I thought I was getting tossed off the project.”
She smiles softly; eyes fill with embarrassment. “Yes. He told me he’s been a real piece of work when it comes to you. I’m surprised you even gave him the time of day.”
“It’s hard to admit that you love someone who’s an asshole to you, but knowing why he was a jerk makes it easier. Also, there were moments when I really did earn his ire, ruining things on the project because I was nervous in his presence.”
“Still, I was wrong to say you don’t belong here. It’s clear you both care for each other. I just don’t want to see my son hurt.”
“You won’t. I love him, and now he knows it. Hopefully the school doesn’t give him a hard time about us. I’d hate for him to lose any project because of me.”
“He’d give it all up for you.”
“That doesn’t mean he should have to. It’s not like he’s given me any special treatment. Everyone in the office knows that I’m the one person he’s been the most critical of and the one he’s nearly let go more times than anyone can count.”
