Chapter Ten
Caleb
“Caleb, this came for you,” Vivien says, walking in with a package.
“Oh, good. Let me have it,” I insisted, knowing exactly what it should be. I smile as she approaches. Before she hands it over the name catches her eye and she stops in her tracks.
“Wait…it’s from Cora? Like Cora the bridesmaid, Cora?” There’s that possessive side I love from my girl.
“Yes. She and her assistant were photographing the wedding—if you remember.” I tap her nose and then tear open the envelope in front of her, reading the note aloud: Caleb, I hope these are exactly what you are looking for.
I shake them out for her and sit down on the sofa, pulling her down by my side. We flip through the small book. The first picture is of our kiss in the lobby. “I didn’t know she managed to get this one. I hadn’t asked her for the favor yet.”
“What do you mean?”
“The night at the club, I asked Cora if she could get a lot of shots of you for me personally.”
“You did?”
“Vivien, I love you. I knew it then, and I was afraid that we wouldn’t have a life together, so I hoped to have some memories.”
“Oh my goodness, that’s so sweet, Caleb.
I love you too, and these are perfect.” She throws her arms around me and kisses me hard.
Laughing happily, I pull her close and kiss her back.
Once we break apart, she focuses on the pictures, flipping through them page by page, full of images of her in perfect, innocent expressions.
I love the ones of us dancing together at the reception like we’re in our own little world.
“Cora and her assistant did an amazing job.”
“They most certainly did.”
“Are you still jealous?”
“It’s possessive, and the answer is no.” She sticks her tongue out at me before turning her attention back to the photos. While she’s busy admiring them, I drop down on one knee and finish off the surprise with the other one I’ve been waiting to give her.
“Vivien, I loved you before I knew how to come to terms with it. I’m obsessed with you to the point of madness, and I need you in my life for the rest of my days. Will you do me the honor of marrying me?”
“My mother always wanted me to marry a doctor.”
“I like your mother already.”
“I didn’t say yes.”
“Too bad. I wasn’t really taking no for an answer anyway.” I slide the diamond ring onto her finger and bring us both to our feet as I kiss her nice and slow. “Marry me.”
“Yes,” she answers breathily between kisses.
“Soon,” I reply, wanting her to understand this is happening quickly. My mind already has half the ideas laid out and the plans drawn up. Soon she’ll be my wife and she can’t leave me.
“Yes.” Fuck, my cock thickens under my clothes and I need to get her naked.
“Tomorrow?” I’ll take what I can get as I scoop her up and carry her to our bedroom.
“Maybe.”
“I guess you’ll need some convincing.”
“You could try.”
“I’ll never stop trying to get between your legs, my mermaid,” I growl, slipping my fingers between her legs to tease her. Soon we’re enjoying our love over and over.
