Chapter 13

Chapter Thirteen

Kira

“You must be Lila,” the woman said as she stepped off the patio and walked down to where we stood by the car. “So glad you could come.”

“Thank you. It’s great to be here. I’ve heard so much about this place,” I told her.

Well, that was sort of a lie. Rex had referenced the nursery but hadn’t given me any details. Hopefully I didn’t seem too shocked now that I was finally seeing it all for myself.

“Did you have a nice trip in from New York?” Athena asked.

“Yes. The time difference is messing with me. It’s so early here but my internal clock is saying it’s much later in the evening.”

“If you want to turn in for the night, your room is all ready. Please, don’t let us stop you,” Athena said.

I was half tempted to take her up on the offer. That would get me out of any more awkwardness. But it was early, even by East Coast time. I’d be bored out of my mind if I just laid in a bedroom the rest of the evening.

“I’m good for now. But thank you. And thanks for letting me stay here.”

Though I remembered Rex’s offer of getting me a hotel room. Perhaps I’d keep that card in my back pocket just in case I needed to play it.

Eventually though, at some point tonight, I knew I’d have to tell Rex the truth about everything.

“Is this your first time at a nursery like this?” Trish asked me.

I nodded.

“You’re going to love it here! Auntie Athena has everything.

There’s a dress-up room, lots of toys, and even crafts.

And as you can see, the backyard is amazing!

” Her cheery disposition faded for a moment as she said, “Normally there are a lot of Littles here to play with. But right now, it’s just me. I’m sorry.”

I could tell she truly meant it, and my heart hurt for her. “No need to be sorry. I’d love to play with you!”

Lies were piling up and I was losing track of how many I was telling. But that wasn’t a lie. Trish seemed like a nice person. Besides, that backyard looked like it had a lot of fun equipment. I even spied a trampoline I hadn’t noticed at first glance.

One didn’t have to be a Little to enjoy doing stuff like that.

“Really?” she asked hopefully.

“Of course!”

Athena smiled. “First, do you want to change into Little clothes? Or do you want to stay just as you are? Totally your choice. Move at the pace you’re comfortable with, honey.”

I instantly liked the woman. It was obvious why the Littles thought of her as an Auntie.

“That’s what Rex told me too,” I replied.

“We just want to make sure you know that you’re in control,” Athena said. “Consent is everything. All the time.”

I agreed wholeheartedly with that. And the conversation had me feeling more at ease. Though I still didn’t know how I was going to explain to them that this actually wasn’t my kink.

The time for that would come later. I didn’t have the heart to disappoint Trish, though.

Besides, playing dress-up didn’t sound so bad. It was harmless enough. Doing so didn’t mean I had to wear a diaper or whatever. Just put on a silly dress or something and have fun.

Looking at Trish, I said, “Wanna help me pick out an outfit?”

The other woman was clearly excited. “You bet! Come on, they have everything you can think of here.”

Grabbing my hand, she led me toward the back door.

On our way in, I cast a glance over my shoulder and caught a quick glimpse of Rex watching us go.

Obviously, I didn’t know for certain what was going through his mind. But based on the look in his eyes, I guessed he was growing as fond of me as I was of him.

And that was a big, huge, giant problem.
