Chapter 30

Chapter Thirty

Kira

I was having a difficult time falling asleep.

Every time I closed my eyes, images of the park creeps chasing me kept filling my brain. It helped that Rex was close by. It was so late, he’d ended up crashing in one of Athena’s extra bedrooms.

Or at least the hour was the reason he gave.

I kind of thought he was staying because he was worried about me. Perhaps that was just wishful thinking, though.

It was after two that morning when I finally fell asleep. But instantly I was back with Trish, running through an old, spooky house. Only this time, it wasn’t just exposed wood propping up a fa?ade like the one I’d seen at the studio earlier.

The hallways stretched longer as we ran down them. The men behind us morphed into something bigger, taller, and even scarier—shadow-covered apparitions that reached long dark, swirling tentacles toward us.

Ahead, a door opened. The rotting corpse of an old woman appeared, laughing maniacally as she came toward us.

That’s when I mercifully woke up. Covered in sweat.

And… something else.

Oh no! It took me a moment to figure out what had happened, but I’d wet the bed! Crap! I must have been that scared.

Groaning, I got up, flipped on the lamp, and pulled the covers all the way back to confirm that there was in fact a giant wet spot on the sheet.

Thankfully, I found a waterproof mattress protector under the fitted sheet, so I hadn’t ruined anything.

Auntie Athena must have learned her lesson, housing so many Littles.

Quickly, I stripped the sheets and then went to get a pair of new panties from my suitcase. I took them into the bathroom, cleaned up, and was happy when I had dry underwear on once again.

Now I had to creep out of my room, try to find clean sheets, and make the bed so I could hopefully—and finally—get some good sleep.

I moved slowly down the hall, hoping my feet wouldn’t creak too loudly on the mansion’s old hardwood floor. Sticking to the posh runner, I was able to avoid making too much noise, but there were a few times I stopped completely after a creaking noise.

Passing the nursery room, I stopped and gritted my teeth.

It would be embarrassing to wear a diaper or pull-up, but… I didn’t want to wet the bed again either. And as scared as I was, it was highly likely I might! I mean, I’d never dreamed I would do it once. But odds seemed likely it could happen a second time.

So, I slowly pushed the half-open door all the way open and crept inside.

I then pushed the door mostly closed, but stopped short of actually clicking it in place, not wanting to make any noise.

Flipping on the lights, I surveyed the shelves of options.

Some diapers were plain white, some had cute designs, and others were just different colors like pink or blue. There were plastic-backed options, cloth-like exteriors, and pull-ups.

So many choices!

I drew a deep breath and tried to steady my nerves as I picked up a cute pink one. Gosh, it was so thick! It would certainly do the job. No reason to worry about ruining Athena’s bed with that one on.

Why was I drawn to this? It was just because I’d had an accident, surely. Or maybe seeing my new friends in Little Space had planted that seed in my mind.

Whatever the reason, I found myself taking it to the giant adult-sized changing table that was against one of the walls.

Trying to move slowly so I wouldn’t make too much noise, I slid my panties off and then unfolded the diaper and got it positioned atop the table.

Then, moving faster so I wouldn’t lose my nerve, I went up the stairs but stopped midway as the wood groaned a bit beneath my feet.

After a few seconds passed and no one came in, I figured I was safe to keep going.

But I apparently was not safe to walk up the few steps, because I lost my balance and thudded hard against the floor, landing with a moan as pain shot through my back.

The door swung open and Rex was kneeling by my side in a matter of seconds.

“Are you all right?”

“Yeah. Didn’t hurt myself bad. Just kind of jarring.” I sat up and felt a little more aching surge through me, but it faded pretty quickly.

“What were you doing?”

Okay, answering is going to hurt worse than falling off the changing table, I told myself.

“I was trying to put on a diaper.”

His eyes fell below my waist. “Which is why you’re half naked.”

Closing my eyes, I groaned but wasn’t sure why. It wasn’t anything he hadn’t seen before.

“Why? Were you just doing this to somehow appease us? Kira, you don’t have to be anyone you aren’t. Not for me or Athena or any of the other Littles.”

“I know that! It’s… well… Rex, I kinda, sorta… wet the bed.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah.”

“I see.”

We remained on the floor in silence a moment.

“I’m sorry that happened,” he said. “But there’s no reason to be embarrassed. Look where you’re at.” The wink that followed had me smiling.

“Here, do you want me to help you?”

I froze for a moment, but eventually said, “You mean, like put the diaper on me?”

Rex nodded.

Oh boy. Talk about conflicted. The prospect was humiliating but also… kind of thrilling? I didn’t quite understand why and would need to unpack that later.

But it would be practical. Putting a diaper on myself seemed like it would be hard.

And, again, it wasn’t like Rex would be seeing something he hadn’t seen before.

“Yes, please.” The words were muted and I was pretty sure he noticed my voice quiver, but oh well.

“Okay, come on. Let me help you.”

I was cradled in his arms before I realized it. He made it seem so effortless as he lifted me off the floor. Engulfed by his huge body, I felt so protected and hated it when he let me go, gently placing me on the table.

The diaper rustled as he smoothed it out some more. “You picked a thick one.”

Gee, that didn’t make it more humiliating or anything.

He was right, though.

“Go big or go home,” I said.

“Well, you sure went big. But it’ll do the job.”

The thick, soft cotton was comfortable—and oddly comforting—as it came through my legs and then pressed against me while he secured the four fastening tapes around my waist.

“We’re all finished,” he announced.

Part of me was disappointed. The experience had seemed very intimate. I felt closer to Rex.

Would it just make it harder when it came time to say goodbye? Because there was no way we had a future together. Not after my dishonesty.

I appreciated that he was still being nice to me, though.

“Would you like me to walk you back to bed?”

The words, “Yes, Sir,” almost escaped my lips, but I caught myself at the last moment. Somehow, though, that answer would have seemed appropriate.

But my reply was a simple, “Please.”

We arrived in the guest room and he saw that it was stripped. “You need sheets.”

“Oh yeah. That was going to be my next stop after the nursery.”

“Hang on.”

Rex disappeared but came back a moment later holding fresh linens. “This won’t take but a minute.”

I tried to help, but each time, he told me just to wait while he took care of everything.

“There we go. You ready?”

“Yes, Sir.”

Okay, that time I couldn’t help it. He didn’t seem to react strongly one way or another, but a feeling of contentment spread inside me as I climbed into bed.

“Sleep tight.”

“Thank you. Good night.”

“Good night.”

After he pulled the covers up, he turned and walked away, flipping the light off as he stopped in the doorway.

He didn’t leave.

A half a minute passed before he asked, “Kira, are you scared?”

At his question the dam broke and I started sobbing. The traumatic events of the night and all the fear I’d felt came rushing back, sitting on top of my body like a crushing stone.

And just like that, I was once again in Rex’s arm as he carried me to his room.

Straight to his bed.
