-Rose Dern-

Working with Darien had been the best decision I'd ever made. He was—of course— the sweetest man I'd ever met.

He barely overworks me. His pay is attractive.

But the most attractive part of working with him is him.

Ohhh, that handsome body he possesses.

Those strong and broad chest of his that I sometimes wonder how my fingers would feel running down it.

His obvious six packs makes me wish he could just walk in the office one day, taking off his shirt and showing it all to me.

I could literally drool at those dark and beautiful lips of his.

It always made me wonder how it'd taste on mine.

His perfectly brushed curly hair that steals my attention once in a while.

To make things worse, I think he notices.

And of course what lay belo—

The ringing of my phone interrupted my thoughts which was probably good.

I mean what the hell are you doing Rose.

Lusting over your boss? For shame Rose. For shame.

I reached for the phone where it lay on the table in front of the sofa I sat on watching a movie.

It was the weekend, so I had nothing better to do than just sit in front of the TV, though I'd rather prefer sitting at work and admiring the dashing face of my boss while he concentrates on whatever work he did.

Geez, the effect he had on me.

When I noticed Don's name flashing on the screen, my brows was pulled in surprise.

Why was he calling? He never called. Could something bad have happened? Eri?

I answered the call, thinking maybe my body was being a little too alert.

“Hello, Suzy?” Don's voice was filled with a mixture of concern, fear, alertness, regrets and any other bad thing one could think about.

That only made me more alert and worried.

“No Don, it's Rose.” At this point, I didn't even care that he hadn't saved my number (normally I would because I hated it when someone I've met more than three times didn't save my number).

“Is everything okay?” I sat up straight, ignoring the fact that the bowl of chips that lay on my leg fell, all the chips spilling to the ground.

He made a sound I couldn't make out. “Is Eri with you?”

That just made me more worried as I jumped to my feet, heart racing a million times faster. “No, why?”

Questions raced in my head.

Like could she be in trouble? Had something bad happened to her?

And why the heck was she not home with Don?!

He muttered some cuss words under his breath, and when I caught them, my heart rate increased.

“What the fuck happened!” The yelling seemed like a means to reduce the rate at which my heart threatened to explode.

But obviously, that didn't work.

Suzy scurried from wherever she was (I didn't care to know that), looking confused at my expression.

“What happened?” She asked, placing a hand on mine.

Her confused expression turned to worry when she probably noticed my shaky hands and slow breath.

Not my Eri.

No.

“Are you sure she's not with you?” He sounded very worried.

“Gosh, what the heck happened?!” I asked again. Louder this time.

“It's just—” he was hesitant to talk. Why? What did he do?

“Eri left the house in anger and now she's nowhere to be found.”

Fuck. “Why the fuck did she leave!”

Suzy was scared, I could see it. She was shaking and her mind was probably traveling places.

This was not the type of thing she needed.

She was just recovering from cancer and didn't need stress.

But at this point, I was too lost of breath to even help someone else catch theirs.

“When did she leave?”

“Yesterday night.” Yesterday night?!

I hung up, dialling Eri's number immediately and also ignoring Suzy's worried questions about ‘what happened’ and ‘is Eri alright'

After a few rings, I was sent to voicemail.

“Fuck.” I tried again and again and again but to no avail.

“What on earth is happening?” Suzy panicked.

“Eri's been gone since yesterday night.” That made her face turn completely pale.

“What?” Sweat broke on her forehead, trickling down, and breathing seemed to be a problem.

Shit.

“Listen, it's gonna be okay.” I tried assuring, but that was kind of hard when even I wasn't sure.

“Willi!” I called for the only maid's name I knew, and she immediately rushed to the parlor, staring at Suzy in panic.i

“Take her to her room and try calm her down.” I ordered gently.

“Okay ma'am.” She sauntered towards Suzy, taking her by her shoulders and leading the very shaky Suzy to her room.

I'd check on her later, but right now, my mind raced to find Eri.

Where on earth could she have gone? That moron didn't use her senses.

Where does she even know in this gigantic city?

If she was mad, couldn't she have come visit me! Does it look like I'd throw her out!

I dialled her number again, but this time when I was sent to voicemail, I decided to actually leave something.

“Eri, where the fuck are you now?! If you don't call me back, I will make sure you never know how to sit with that ass of yours.”

Gosh, when will this girl learn that she has people worrying about her.

I ran my hand through my hair, unsure how Suzy and I would cope if anything bad was to happen to Eri.

Is she safe? Did she get involved in an accident?

Where could she have gone to? And what could have caused her to leave the house so late at night?

Did Don do something? Did she perhaps catch him cheating on her?

That thought escaped a gasp from me.

It was possible.

He seemed to have blamed himself when he'd called.

If he'd cheated on her, then he should fuck off. Eri should not endanger herself because of some son of a bitch.

“Eri, where are you?” I whispered in more of a frustrated groan.

Maybe she went back home.

That was a good possibility.

There was no other place she could go to than where she'd stayed with her mom and dad.

I scurried out of the house, rushing to a car while a bodyguard quickly ambled to open the door for me, closing it once I was in.

The driver seemed a little startled, but composed himself. “Where to ma'am?”

To Eri's house.
