-Eri Jones-
“Thanks so much for getting the stuff for my sister's wedding, she'd be so pleased.” Hane’s expression bloomed joy as she stared at the expensive clothes, make-up kit, jewelries and every other thing we'd bought.
“It was nothing.” I assured her, though feeling proud of myself for being able to do such.
Something I couldn't do a year back.
“You know, I'd love to see your sister before the wedding. What was her name again?”
Hane seemed lost in the expensive stuffs in front of her at the moment, but turned to me. “Huh?”
“Your sister. Her name?”
“Oh, you mean Kate.”
“Yeah, Kate.” It was after she said it that I remembered the name. “So when can I meet her?”
“Whenever you want.” She shrugged. “She's not the type to like publicity, she wants her wedding to be just family and friends. No drama or anything.”
“So does that mean I won't be able to see her?”
Another shrug as she stared at the diamond necklace I'd gotten Kate like it was the most beautiful thing ever.
“You can see her on the wedding day, but if you want to see her before that, I'm sure she'll be able to squeeze you into her busy schedule.”
Her hair escaped the ponytail, falling over her face, but she tucked it behind her ear. “I mean, she's bound to meet the person who graced her with such presence.”
Then her gaze returned to me. “Thanks again.”
“You're welcome, and help me let your sister know how happy I am for her about the wedding.”
She smiled. “She'll most definitely be happy.”
It was when a yawn escaped me that I realized it was way past my night time.
I stood up from the sofa. “I've got to go to bed.”
“Okay, goodnight.” She stood up too, clutching all the bags of what I'd bought for her and her sister.
“Goodnight.” With a small hug, I left her, sauntering to my room.
Weird to think I now stayed comfortably in the same room as Don.
As I got there, the door was opened so I walked in, closing it behind me.
As expected, he was sitting on the bed, a pillow on his lap with a laptop on the pillow.
My brows pulled in annoyance as I headed towards him. “Why are you still working? Didn't you get enough of that at work.”
He didn't seem to have noticed when I walked in at first, because he looked slightly startled to see me.
“I've just got some work to finish.”
“Can’t that wait till tomorrow?” I took the space on the bed beside him, resting my head on his shoulder.
“I'm almost done, I promise.”
“You're not fully well, you know?” My hand moved to his chest, where I trailed a finger down it's hardness.
He let out a soft groan. “I know, and as I said, I'm almost done, just a few more minutes and I'll get some sleep.”
“You know you're still recovering, can't you just take a break or something?”
He really overworked himself. That wasn't good.
“Again, I'm almost done I promise.”
The more words I planned on saying to convince him to heed, were interrupted from the pinging of my phone that I'd left in the pocket of my pants.
With a defeated sigh, I left his chest, pulling on my phone and no longer resting on his shoulder.
“One sec.”
It was a message.
One from an unknown number.
Hmm?
But when I clicked on it and read the message, my brows drew together.
I realized I had a notification. A message from an unknown number.
“What the—?” I had to reread the message in case there was a mistake.
But oh there wasn't.
Don turned to me, concern etched in his expression. “Is something wrong?”
“Yes.” Something was really wrong.
Rather than explaining, I handed the phone to him so he could read the message.
That was something he did out.
“Listen Eri, I want you to know Don's mine and I don't care what words he cooed you with, but know he's mine and fuck off from my property you bitch.”
Just hearing it out loud irritated me even further.
He groaned his annoyance, shaking his head while he squeezed his eyes shut as though trying to calm himself, before opening it.
But it didn't seem like he was half as agitated as I felt.
What on earth?!
“That girl is just crazy.” He sighed, facing his laptop and continuing whatever work he was doing on it.
What?!
At least he continued. “You know, she came to the office earlier today claiming to want to have me and stories like that.”
He let out a dry chortle. “She's so adamant on that. Her love is frustrating.”
“Love?” I took the phone from him, dropping it on the bed. “Don, this isn't love, this is obsession, don't you get?”
That made him turn to me with a raised brow. “Obsession, huh? I've never actually seen it that way but now that you've pointed it out, I guess you're right. It is obsession.”
Obviously.
No other excuse was sensible enough to explain her madness.
It was obvious she was so keen on getting him, she could do anything to make that possible.
Anything.
“So what are you going to do about it?”
pu at his nonchalance, as he just continued doing whatever shit he did on that laptop.
He shrugged. “Nothing much.”
My brows were furrowed at his nonchalance and how he didn't seem to see this the way I did.
Like, he literally just continued whatever shut he did on that stupid laptop.
“Nothing much?” I sighed, my blood filled with annoyance. “Why are you taking this so lightly? Who knows what she can do?”
Still, his head was buried to that laptop I wished I could smash to the ground.
“She's not posing any actual threat, she's just obsessed and she'll get over it.”
“People don't get over obsession that easily Don.” Was he senseless or what?
Either way, he was annoying the heck out of me.
I stood up, heading straight for the door.
“And where do you think you're going missy?”
“Anywhere I wouldn't have to see your face.”
I heard his movements, and when my hand reached for the door, he gently grabbed it, turning me to face him.
“Oh come on, she's seriously not worth us getting into a fight because.” He left my hand to wrap his around my waist.
I replied him with a scoff. “I don't get why you're taking this lightly.”
“Because I've known June for fifteen years and I know what she can and cannot do.” He planted a peck on my forehead.
“But obsession is obsession. It doesn't matter who has it. It's obsession.”
“Okay, what do you want me to do then? I'll do that as long as it doesn't make you leave the room in annoyance.”
“Ensure she doesn't have any means of meeting with us ever.”
“Yes my love.”
He leaned closer, pressing his lips against mine.
Okay, this might not be so bad after all.
