-Eri Jones-

Ever since the traumatizing experience with June, I'd not gone to work.

Partly because I was still recovering from it.

But mostly because no news on her whereabouts had been sent to us.

When the cops had searched her parents' place, she wasn't there.

Nor was she at her previous own.

She had ran into hiding, and so I needed to be safe, for now at least.

The door opened, followed by Don walking in with a small smile.

He hadn't gone to work today because I pleaded with him to spend it with him.

“What's up?” I asked, scrolling through my Instagram page, to check on new updates.

Apparently, the news about June hadn't escalated yet.

Don had told the police to do their search in secret so as not to tarnish the Silvers' image and affect their stocks.

That was very nice of him actually, because believe me when I say if it were in my hands, I wouldn't give a damn about their reputation as long as it snaps some senses in that head of June's.

But well, the man who headed towards the bed I sat on, taking the space beside me wasn't like that.

“I just got a call from the police.”

With that, I jerked my head to his direction, eyes wide in interest. “And?”

He sighed, pursing his lips. “Apparently, they haven't found her.”

My heart dropped at those words. “But—?”

“There's a high possibility she's ran back to Dubai though.”

A flicker of hope flowed through me. “She's in Dubai? How do they know?”

“A June Silver checked in for a first class plane to Dubai last night.”

The thought of her possibly being in Dubai made me feel a little more relieved. “But she can come back at any time. Like she did before.”

He nodded once. “The police are still continuing their search. They've also contacted the Dubai police force to start searching for her.”

A relieved smile appeared on my lips. “Does that mean she might no longer be in our lives?”

“Not yet, but soon.”

Thank goodness.

If that was true, then finally I could live like a normal human without thinking there was a psycho out there obsessing over my husband, enough to choke me.

Now I could enjoy my marriage.

The glee in me at that thought made me wrap both hands around his neck. “Why don't we celebrate that then, my love.”

He replied with a lopsided smile. “That sounds nice.” Then his hands found their way round my waist.

“I know right?” I shook my head a little dramatically, heaving my own sigh. “Now that she's gone, I'm sure everything will move from good to better.”

“Yeah,” she was happily pacing back and forth the room. “That girl needs therapy.

“An asylum will be better.” I added.

“She's a psychopath.”

And that was something I couldn't agree more about.

When I recalled, I shook my head. “It's just sad for her parents as she's their only child.”

Who on earth was going to take over their company now?

June certainly wasn't in the correct mental state to do that.

“The board might find someone to put there, but I guess that's just the end of the Silver family being the CEO to the Silvers.” Hane seemed to feel sympathy for them.

We stayed in silence for about a minute as though actually mourning their loss, before she spoke like she just recalled something.

“Oh yeah, before I forget, are you still coming to Kate’s wedding?”

“Duh… when is it again?”

“Saturday.” She stopped walking, turning to me with a huge grin.

“Saturday? As in, this Saturday?”

“Yeah.” Her smile faded a little as she frowned. “Didn’t I tell you before?”

“No,” I shook my head, “you definitely didn’t.”

She let out a small gasp. “Oh no! I’m so sorry! Does that mean you’re not coming?”

“Of course not, I’m still coming.”

Her head moved in a nod. “Okay, good.” Then hesitantly, she added, “I just wanted to mention… My sister's kind of shy. She’s super introverted and doesn’t really like big crowds or too much drama at her events.”

I blinked, processing that. “So… does that mean I shouldn’t come?”

Though I tried not to sound too disappointed, it probably came out that way.

At least, she quickly shook her head. “No! I mean, you should come! We’ve been planning this for a while, and Kate is really looking forward to meeting you.”

“Whew,” I exhaled, placing a hand on my chest. “I thought you were about to uninvite me.”

She giggled. “No way! I just meant… maybe let’s not make it a big deal that you’re a Jones. She wouldn’t want the whole wedding turning into a spectacle because of you.”

I nodded in understanding. “Got it. I’ll keep a low profile.”

“You don’t have to hide, just don’t be too obvious.”

“Yes, ma’am,” I joked, making her chortle.

“You’re the ma’am! I’m just your maid.”

That bought a frown to my lips. “Just my maid? Please, if you weren’t here, I’d be bored out of my mind in this huge house.”

Her smile widened. “Thanks… and really, I appreciate everything you’ve done for me.”

“Oh, don’t even mention it. I know how hard it is to work for a boss who makes your life miserable.”

As I said it, old memories rushed back— the days when I was barely scraping by, desperately trying to make ends meet for Suzy and me.

She looked at me with soft eyes. “Still, I’m grateful. You’re the best boss any girl could ask for.”

“Aww, my pleasure.”

With a wider grin, she suddenly pulled me into a tight hug. “That’s one of the reasons Kate already likes you. She’s dying to talk to you.”

I hugged her back, smiling. “I can’t wait to meet her too.”
