Chapter 13

Rake (Silo)

When we moved my stuff to Nana’s cabin, I installed the scrambler I’d gotten for the hidden camera even though I-Tee had been scrambling it from his end.

Norah had a couple things to arrange, so I offered to take the dogs out. Grabbing a tumbler of water, I sit on the porch steps leaning against railing and watch their antics.

The dogs are a perfect add-on for the cabin security.

I met them a couple years ago when they were still pups, but they seemed to remember.

Different litters, same dad. Both rescued as pups from a rescue shelter where they’d been caged together.

Part German Shepard part Malinois. Some are skeptical of the mix because they tend to be highly intelligent, intense and high energy.

Amélie’s never had a problem. She say’s inadequate trainers are the problem, not the dogs.

Amélie’s spent her life around dogs helping her father and then on her own. If she says a dog is solid, they are. Main thing to know is working dogs need to work.

Dinner was great. Patch and I get along and you can’t help but love Amélie. Wish her husband and son could have come. I promise myself we’ll go for a visit soon.

I think it did Norah good to be around another woman. She’s had a lot of hard hits in the last few weeks. I really liked how she kept touching me and how our legs touched under the table in the booth.

Most of the team at our main compound are partnered up and we’ve had an influx of babies. Here at Love Beach the guys have been falling fast and hard, too.

Then Diesel brings his niece, now daughter, into the picture. I was part of the detail watching over her. Damned if the little bug didn’t wrap her arms around my leg and say, ‘up up’. Once I lifted her, she owned me. I go all gooey around her.

I’d do anything for her. The guys laughed when they caught us playing dolls. I never had that kind of unconditional trust before. The men I serve with are a different story. Our bond is forged in life and death. Not feelings, like a child or woman gives.

Until now. Until Norah. She accepted my past and moved on, too.

It hits me. This is love. I love Norah. I can no longer imagine the life I led before. Now all I see is the cabin, the dogs, two rockers on the porch and maybe our own little ones. I want it. I want it all. The house, the wife, the babies. I want Norah.

The screen door creaks behind me, and she joins me on the step. Both dogs look over but it’s Vader who lopes to her to get an ear scratch first. I take her other hand in mine. I’ve got first dibs, buddy.

“It’s a beautiful night, isn’t it. I love when I can see the stars so clearly in the sky,” she says.

“I turn to her. You’re beautiful.”

In the moonlight I see her eyes go wide, then she smiles. “Thank you. You’re kind of a hunk yourself.”

“Norah, I... I want this. I want to see if we can be a thing. I know it’s quic...”

“Yes! Yes, so do I. We don’t have to rush more than what you’re comfortable with, but I’m happy you’re staying here.”

A chuckle escapes. “I thought the ‘rushing’ was supposed to be my line.”

She smiles, and shrugs.

“Are you wearing the silent dog whistle that Amélie gave you?”

She lifts the chain hanging around her neck and shows me.

“I need you to promise to always wear it. Wrap it in plastic wrap when you get in the shower. The dogs will hear it, attackers won’t. I’m not sure what’s going on and until we do, I need you to be safe.”

“I promise, but I need the same from you. No unnecessary chances. Okay?”

“Yes.” I stand and whistle. Shiva comes running. Inside both dogs curl up on the new dog beds strategically placed so that one can watch the door unseen, while the other is close to intervene on Norah’s behalf.

We stand on opposite sides of the bed looking at each other. She slowly undoes the buttons on her dress and lets it fall to the floor. I tug my T-shirt over my head, tossing it aside.

She unclasps her bra and it joins the dress. I push my cargo pants and briefs to the floor.

She pushes off her underwear and crawls onto the bed like a cat making her way to me.

I’m frozen in place. When she reaches me, she licks the head of my cock before wrapping one sweet hand around my girth.

A hiss of pleasure escapes me. While she circles the head with her tongue, I gently cup the back of her neck.

Her mouth feels so good, so good, so right. I fight not to explode.

“You,” I hiss, “said you weren’t...” She sucks hard. “Oh fuck—experienced,” I gasp out.

“Hummmm... romance novels,” she says around my cock.

“Shit.” She takes me deeper, her lips clamped hard on me. “Need to read more.”

Her chuckle vibrates up my cock. “Fuck, I’m coming, babe.”

She doesn’t stop or hesitate, drinking me down like a cold brew. Once I catch my breath, I tumble us both to the bed. “My god ,woman. You’re gonna kill me. I’m an old man.”

Slapping my shoulder, she meets my gaze. “You are not old. You are seasoned like a fine wine. We are not discussing age again. You know how I feel.”

Head on my shoulder, she kisses my chest. “So you don’t want me to do that again?”

“That is not what I said. Honestly, this may need to be a nightly ritual. Shit, if anything is gonna keep me young, it’s you.”

I can feel her smile, and shift so she’s under me, our hips aligned, my weight on my forearms. I palm one side of her face. You’re... I... I love you, Norah. I know it’s too soon, but I need you to know. I know you aren’t ready. But you’re it for me. I love you more than breath itself.”

“Please tell me you aren’t one of those chauvinistic men who don’t think women know their own minds?” He shakes his head. “Good. Because I fell in love with you when I first opened the door to you.”

“Are you sure you don’t need a little more convincing?” I bump my already hard dick against her clit.

“Humm, you’re right. I’m not totally sure about you.” She meets my gaze and laughs. I’m so hooked.
