Chapter 15

The monsoon rain over the Sewri Docks fell in a dark, unrelenting curtain. Cold ocean wind whipped across the rusted iron shipping containers, sending heavy sheets of water cascading off the roofs of the abandoned industrial complex.

At the end of the deserted jetty, standing in the shadows near the entrance of Sewri Warehouse Nine, was a single black armored SUV.

Inside the driver's seat sat Akhil Raheja.

The engine idled in a low, dangerous growl.

In the dim glow of the dashboard lights, Akhil’s face looked like it was sculpted out of cold marble.

His dark eyes were devoid of all fear, replaced by a lethal, razor-sharp focus that promised absolute devastation to anyone standing between him and Shruti.

Beside his SUV, parked fifty yards back in the dark alleys between the shipping crates, were two black tactical vans carrying Mark and twelve heavily armed Raheja security operatives.

Mark’s voice came urgently through Akhil’s earpiece.

"Mr. Raheja, my tactical team has surrounded the perimeter.

Thermal imaging shows six armed mercenaries inside, along with Reyansh Khanna.

Miss Malhotra is tied to a chair in the center of the concrete floor.

Khanna has a detonator switch in his hand. "

Akhil kept his hands steady on the leather steering wheel. "Are your snipers in position on the north water tower?"

"Negative, sir," Mark reported nervously.

"The monsoon rain is too heavy, and the fog off the ocean is blocking sightlines into the high windows.

If we breach the doors with a full assault team, Khanna will press that detonator or order his men to fire on Miss Malhotra before we can clear the floor. "

"I know," Akhil spoke, his deep voice terrifyingly calm. "Which is why you stay outside."

"Mr. Raheja, no!" Mark pleaded urgently. "You cannot walk in there alone! Khanna set this entire trap specifically to execute you!"

Akhil reached into his inner suit pocket, his fingers gently brushing against Shruti’s silver charm bracelet. The small brass compass and camera pendant felt warm against his skin, a grounding anchor in the middle of the storm.

"Khanna expects me to act like a desperate man," Akhil murmured, his voice cold as ice. "He expects me to panic. Hold your men at the perimeter gates, Mark. Do not breach until I give the command or until you hear continuous gunfire."

"Understood, Mr. Raheja," Mark submitted with a heavy, anxious breath. "Godspeed, sir."

Akhil unbuckled his seatbelt. He unholstered his primary tactical pistol, checked the loaded magazine with practiced precision, and chambered a round. He slid a second concealed blade into his boot strap and tucked the pistol into his waistband behind his back.

He opened the SUV door, stepped out into the pouring rain, and walked towards the rusted iron doors of Warehouse Nine.

Inside the cavernous warehouse, the air was freezing, smelling of damp rust and sea salt. The heavy rain slammed continuously against the corrugated iron roof, echoing like gunfire.

Shruti sat tied to the heavy wooden chair in the center of the concrete floor. The thick ropes cut painfully into her wrists and ankles, but she didn't care about the pain. Her heart was hammering against her ribs so violently she could barely breathe.

Standing twenty feet away, Reyansh Khanna was pacing back and forth, holding his scotch glass and a heavy black detonator switch. His six armed mercenaries stood positioned in a semicircle, their submachine guns raised, trained directly on the grand wooden entrance doors.

"Ten minutes," Reyansh sneered, checking his gold watch with a cold, mocking laugh. "Your billionaire savior is late, Miss Malhotra. Maybe he realized you aren't worth dying for."

Shruti raised her head, staring into Reyansh’s eyes with pure, unyielding defiance. "Akhil isn't like you, Khanna. He doesn't run away from a fight."

"He's a fool!" Reyansh snapped, his face contorting in sudden anger. "He thinks he owns this city! He thinks he can destroy my business permits in Italy and ruin my family name! Tonight, he pays for everything!"

Suddenly...

'CREEEAK!'

The massive, rusted iron sliding doors at the front of the warehouse slowly groaned open.

A heavy gust of cold ocean wind and rain slammed into the cavernous room, making the flickering halogen work lights sway wildly from the steel ceiling beams.

Every mercenary in the room instantly raised their weapons, their fingers tightening on their triggers.

Through the mist and falling rain, a tall, imposing figure stepped into the warehouse.

Akhil Raheja walked in alone.

Shruti’s breath caught in her throat. Her heart did a sudden, agonizing leap into her chest. "Akhil... no!" she sobbed, tears springing to her dark eyes. "Why did you come?! It's a trap!"

Akhil didn't look at Reyansh. He didn't look at the six armed mercenaries training guns on his chest.

His dark, intense eyes locked directly onto Shruti.

He saw the red slap mark on her golden cheek, the ropes cutting into her delicate wrists, and the fear in her eyes. A dark, terrifying aura erupted from his broad frame, a lethal, volcanic rage so intense that even the hardened mercenaries took an instinctive step backward.

Akhil’s gaze softened for a fraction of a second as he looked at Shruti.

"I told you, Shorty," Akhil spoke, his deep, velvety voice echoing clearly through the cavernous warehouse, completely unbothered by the weapons pointed at him. "I will always find you."

Shruti’s chest heaved with furious, heartbroken sobs. After everything she had said to him that afternoon, after breaking his heart and telling him to leave her life, he had still walked directly into a death trap just to reach her side.

"How romantic!" Reyansh’s mocking voice cut through the air as he stepped forward, his eyes burning with malicious triumph. "The great Akhil Raheja... walking into a slaughterhouse like a lamb!"

Akhil slowly turned his head to look at Reyansh. His expression was stone-cold, completely devoid of fear.

"Let her go, Reyansh," Akhil commanded, his deep voice carrying a razor-sharp weight. "Your war is with me. She has nothing to do with this."

"She has 'everything' to do with this!" Reyansh snarled, holding up the black detonator switch. "She's a witness to my corporate extortion! She's the reason my Italian deals crumbled! And most importantly... she's the only thing in this world that you care about!"

Reyansh gestured sharply with his hand to his head mercenary. "Drop your weapon, Raheja! On your knees! Or I order my men to put a bullet through her head right now!"

Akhil didn't flinch. Slowly, deliberately, he reached behind his back, pulled out his tactical pistol by the barrel, and tossed it onto the wet concrete floor. The heavy steel gun clattered loudly, sliding away into a puddle.

"Now get on your knees!" Reyansh demanded arrogantly, stepping closer, feeling absolute power over his rival.

Akhil stood at his full, imposing height of six feet two inches, his broad shoulders squared, his dark eyes fixed on Reyansh with cold contempt.

"I don't kneel to cowards, Reyansh," Akhil stated smoothly.

Reyansh’s face turned beet red with furious humiliation. His jaw twitched wildly as he pointed a finger at Akhil.

"Kill him!" Reyansh screamed to his mercenaries. "Shoot him!"

What happened next occurred with such blinding, terrifying speed that it defied human reaction time.

Before the lead mercenary could pull his trigger, Akhil moved like a predator unleashed.

He didn't run away, he lunged directly 'into' the danger line.

Closing the distance in a split second, Akhil grabbed the barrel of the lead mercenary’s submachine gun, forcing the weapon upward just as a burst of automatic gunfire shattered the ceiling iron.

'RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT!'

Sparks flew from the high roof beams as Akhil drove a devastating, bone-crushing palm strike straight into the mercenary’s nose.

'CRACK!'

The man’s head snapped back, blood spraying onto the wet floor as he collapsed like a sack of stones.

Without missing a single beat, Akhil grabbed the falling submachine gun, spun around on his heels, and used the heavy steel stock to slam into the jaw of the second mercenary who was rushing him with a tactical knife.

The second man went flying sideways, crashing hard into a stack of wooden pallets.

"Shoot him! Shoot him!" Reyansh shrieked in absolute panic, backing away towards the rear shipping crates.

The remaining four mercenaries opened fire simultaneously.

'BANG! BANG! BANG!'

Akhil grabbed the unconscious body of the lead mercenary, using the man’s heavy body armor as a human shield against the incoming hail of bullets. Bullets ripped through the dark raincoats, sparks bouncing off the concrete floor.

Akhil threw the heavy body directly into the legs of two approaching thugs, knocking both men off balance onto the slippery floor.

He lunged forward, grabbing the third thug by his tactical vest, executing a flawless military shoulder throw that slammed the two-hundred-pound man head-first onto the hard concrete, knocking him instantly cold.

Shruti watched the chaos in absolute, breathless awe.

Akhil was a force of nature, a dark, unstoppable storm.

Every strike he delivered was executed with terrifying precision, power, and speed.

He moved through six armed, elite mercenaries not like a businessman, but like a lethal warrior who was burning down heaven and hell to protect the woman he loved.

However, the fight was taking a heavy toll.

As Akhil disarmed the fourth mercenary, twisting the man's arm until his shoulder dislocated with a sickening pop, the fifth mercenary, a massive, scarred man wearing brass knuckles, lunged out from behind a central steel pillar.

'THUD!'

The heavy brass knuckles struck Akhil squarely across his left jaw line.
